I discovered Dr. McNeil's office from a search on Microsoft CoPilot. I asked for the dentist on Maui HI with the best customer reviews. He stood out and now I understand why. It's my turn to sing his praises. First, his office staff are personable, friendly, and professional. They follow through when they tell you something will get done, and their communication skills are top notch. Dr. McNeil and his assistant are true professionals, have a very calming bedside manner and work well together. Before getting any work done he gave me a thorough evaluation, including x-rays. He then explained what he felt needed to be repaired. Each appointment went very well and the work he completed is EXCELLENT. Chris McNeil is a great dentist. I knew him as my customer from when I had my business, and felt he was a very cool guy. Around the time I needed a dentist I ran into him. He told me where his office is and it is very close to my home and work. He is also from the same area I used to live in Northern California. I went to my first appointment with him years ago and was very impressed. Great chair side manner and very helpful. Always working with me to get the job done in the best way possible. They have always been able to fit me in, even when I had a front cap fall off. While there, he has always been very helpful and efficient with the time. Colleen and the rest of the staff are great. Anytime I have needed to cancel an appointment, she has worked with me to get me in according to my schedule. The rest of the staff are always friendly and competent. I feel better now that I have a dentist I can trust, thanks to Chris McNeil and his staff...possibly the coolest dentist ever!! read more

I have a part time home on Maui, and as others have said he is a good Dentist, but front office is rude and engages in deceptive billing practices. He claims he cannot fire the rude reception person as she came with the business he purchased. 3rd strike was last month during a visit - I would not recommend until he cleans house. read more

Chris is a knowledgeable dentist in a nice office in Wailuku. But his office's billing policy is very disturbing. When I saw him last year he recommended an expensive procedure which I did not do. Subsequently my dentist on the mainland, who I have trusted for about 20 years, said I did not need the procedure. This year I went back to Chris as I did not know another dentist on Maui. He charged me $160.00 for re-gluing a crown. No problem for me. But a few days later it fell out again for no apparent reason. Again his office billed me $160,00 which I paid. $320.00 to re-glue a crown. Never again! read more

I've known Chris for many years as I inherited him when my last dentist sold his practice to him. He's a decent dentist, not a great one, and does not think outside the box. Recently when I had a crown that developed some decay, he recommended a very expensive procedure to fix it, which would have cost $7,000 to $10,0000. We conferred with my husband, who is a retired dentist. My husband suggested a much simpler procedure, which is what we did, and cost only $250!! My daughter also goes to him and twice he insisted she had problems that she did not, and wanted to fix them. He recently purchased 2 homes on Maui for his 2 grown sons; obviously he has to pay for those SOMEHOW!!! I used to recommend him to ALL MY FRIENDS but no more. Great dentist! I was recommend by a friend, to Dr. McNeil's office after I saw a dentist in Kihei and wanted a 2nd opinion. I sent him my x-rays, he responded promptly and I made an appt. He was very nice and thorough with the checkup and it turned out he didn't recommend most the other procedures the Kihei dentist listed that I fix! I was concerned bc the Kihei dentist said the procedures I needed would cost $2500 (and recommended expensive fluoride treatments). I never had so many issues with my previous dentist in CA. Dr. McNeil said I just needed to replace some old silver fillings and he put on new modern caps. Everything went smoothly and I was very happy with the process and results. Cost was very reasonable for $500. Im very happy I came into his office and our family will see him from now on! Chris is amazing , I switched dentist cause this guy is great , he tries to really help you out and tries to save you money . I've had implants done in Thailand and South America , he did not judge me and he researched the foreign implants . To accommodate the finishing work. Takes me an hour to get to him , it's well worth to have someone you can trust , Best dentist I ever had , I would strongly recommend dr McNeil . It's also cool that he surfs !! read more

Dr. McNeil is the best dentist I have ever had. He is efficient, competent, gentle and friendly. Does not do anything unnecessary. I have recommended him to many of my friends. His front office receptionist has become rude in the past years. She has not followed up on authorizations. In the rare event an appointment must be cancelled, she needs to refrain from interrogating the client. At other times she is her former friendly self. It is still worth dealing with her to see Dr. McNeil and his hygienists. They are exceptional. read more

My fear of dentists and dental procedures were so great that I was no longer able to smile. I called MANY dental offices before speaking with Coleen at McNeil Christopher DDS. Her gentleness with my situation made me choose this office. If it wasn't for her working with my insurance company, my procedures would've been put off for months! My dentist, Dr.Wong and his assistance Esmy did such a Wonderful job not only on my dental work but with easing my discomfort. I use to avoid smiling and would look downward to speak, in order to hide my teeth. Now I can't stop smiling not even when I got pulled over for speeding from a police officer 3 days ago. Literally! Rude front office, dont listen and no Manners!! I informed Coleen twice insurance coverage wouldnt start until 2-1-18 and asked them to just take a quick look... $135.00 for 15 minutes. Really helpful when you have told them you are disabled and on limited income!! read more
