Got some work done on my '18 rcsb GMC. I had some bad mufflers when I bought the truck and knew it…read moreneeded replacing. On May 13th 2022. Left said truck above to get a complete new set up put on. New mufflers, new pipes, new tips at 8:30 a.m until 4 pm. Guys tells me $750 cash or $835 debit card. I say cool cash will work. Picked it up around 3:30pm that day. Fast forward 06/02 and I hit a pot hole and minor rattling. After a while the rattling got louder and specifically on the exhaust. That evening I checked and the bracket holding the mufflers together was broken/snapped. I was like man it happens. Brushed it off. Continued to inspect it and felt airflow on the back muffler above the piping. Sure enough the welds were done by a high school kid which is the only thing that makes sense. I was ok. Maybe they just didn't inspect after completion and let it go. I inspect the other pipe and they didn't even weld it at all at the top portion. I was beyond angry and frustrated that this "reputatable" shop has taken advantage of my business and sent me on my way with shotty welds. If the bracket never broke, I would have never discovered it. We had an agreement if I take cash he will knock of the taxes and he will honor their work if anything happens. On 06/03 I take my truck to this shop to inspect them himself as this should not be phone conversation. I get off the truck and ask him if he remembers me as I was not provided a receipt at the time of completed transaction. He says no. What can I do for you? I explain to him what happened and he tells me to wait in his lobby. I attempt to show him my photos of the work instead he wants to see it, so it goes on the lift. He inspects it and says what do you want me to do? I tell him and he says we will honor it but we don't know who did it!? I tell him you did the work it was 3 weeks ago today. No we wouldn't have done that work. I inform him what I paid and a few conversation points at the time of purchase and then he remembers. So I wait and inspect the work while its being done because now my impression of his facility has been shot. I ask the tech. Are you "patching" or putting new fittings and before he answers the owner says "sir stop talking to the techs, there is a waiting room inside, if not I will drop your truck." I say wow are you serious I am asking what work is being done as the welds were not completed at the time of purchase. He continued to threaten I will drop your truck. I'm going to drop your truck. So instead of making a situation worse. I walk away and let him finish. After job is done he is reversing my truck and gets out and says " we're square." Its fixed. I tell him I dont know what's fixed. He said well sometimes when the coupling and the pipe fit snug they just don't weld the top of the pipe. I was confused and then reminded him that no air should be seeping out at any point in time. After I said that. His response was "I don't want your business, your bad business take this mkr to Schaffers or another Flannagins." The point of the review is to remind people to double check what you are paying for. Some people have offs days, barely learning or simply messed up. But when a well known business does shotty work, don't acknowledge the customer as he has already paid, or listening to what he is having problems with is BS. I had to set time from my work day to leave it, inspect it, and hopefully not go back for a 3rd time later. Ownership did not say we apologize for the work, we acknowledge where we cut corners or anything. But I honestly think these welds are horrendous. Thanks for reading.
