Just discovered this little gem on Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg, PA. We live dining out and exploring new cuisine. Gabby, the lone, server, managed to hustle up and down the floor to engage with every table. I like variety and so, ordered the Polish Sampler with a tasting of popular Polish specialty . How is this place not packed, it does look like fine dining from the door but prices are reasonable. The restaurant is small but deep, so plenty of space but could be loud. The Hungarian style potato cake and beef goulash was awesome with crispy potato cake filled with beef goulash, the gravy wish so good I did not even need the meat. The table water had lemon slices and mint and was very good. I would skip the iced tea and stick with water. Overall very good food. Encourage you to try this place and support local. read more

We had lunch at Chris Restaurant and enjoyed our meal. Plus one star for having dog-friendly seating outside. My fella enjoyed the stroganoff (BIG portion) and I had the vegetarian sampler. I enjoyed the sampler but should have had the pierogies boiled and not fried, and it was a little much with the fried potato pancakes. I also had the borscht. Service was friendly. read more

Instead of our usual stop at a chain restaurant, we decided to go local and visit Stroudsburg. What a quaint Main Street! We found Chris restaurant serving Polish cuisine. There is street parking available. Not sure if there are municipal lots. We each ordered a different dish: Polish Platter, Vegetarian Platter and Grilled Bass. They were all very good. The decor is cozy. There is sidewalk seating and window seating. There is a bar but currently it is BYOB. Service is friendly and attentive. There is an extensive menu. Decent portions. We didn't order dessert because we were full. Close to I-80 and easy to get back on. Definitely recommend! read more

I have missed Ukrainian meals from my Mom, but Chris and company made me feel like I was home again. The ambiance is cool and welcoming and the service is wonderful. I tried the Polish platter of kielbasa, pierogis, sauerkraut, and stuffed cabbage. This was exceptional thanks to an excellent mix of flavors. I have not had such amazing kielbasa that was meaty and not greasy. And the unsweetened iced tea I drank was the best I have ever had - truly. As a Polish person new to the neighborhood, I had to see how authentic the Polish soup was here and it did not disappoint. This is like babcia's (grandma's) zurek (white borscht) and rosol (chicken noodle soup). My daughter and I only had the zupki (soups), but the rest of the menu looks super hearty and homemade. We had great service from Aneta and it was very warm and cozy inside, even sitting in the window table. They have great beverages like Polish juices as well as hot coffee specialties like capuccinos. Ok two weeks ago we stop for a late lunch early dinner. I've lived in Stroudsburg for over 20 years and it's touch go here with eating out which is a shame.! we decided to go to Chris for the first time we heard it was a new Polish place We were the only ones there because we were early. They had it decorated so beautifully for valentines !and I'm sorry to say I didn't get the hostess name. She was very well manner attentive and knew the menu well OK let's start with the food. We decided to try a couple of things we started with the stuffed cabbage, which was amazing ! one of the best I've had in a long time and I'm not Polish. Then I had the tripe soup ! It's not for everyone, but if I go somewhere and they have it on the menu, I always try it ! It was a bit salty, but I was still able to eat it. Then we had the Hungarian style potato pancake platter with Beef goulash. And the Polish sausage platter me and my husband split it because we wanted to try more than one plate for dessert which I normally don't eat. They bake on premises the had regatta pistachio cake. Amazing.!! It's a must try !! so will I go back here again? Yes, absolutely anybody in Stroudsburg or passing through Stroudsburg should try this place. read more

Hand's down the best meal we've had while visiting this week! I enjoyed the White Borscht soup. FULL of flavour. Served with a very generous portion of kielbasa, boiled eggs and rye bread. Absolute heaven!!! Haven't had it in ages and was so happy that Chris' didn't disappoint! Also had a small order of fried pierogis (4.) My husband had the broiled polish sausage that came with two sides. He had the garlic Parmesan potato wedges. SO DELIGHTFUL!!! Garnished with fresh dill. His second side was creamed spinach. Again, DELICIOUS!!! Waitress was attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. What a gem in Stroudsburg! read more

The atmosphere is just fine. The food was very tasty on the downside. We were four people and one of our dishes was lukewarm. The service was terrible. We waited at least 15 minutes to get a menu and another 10 minutes to put our order in and then like I said, when we got the food, it wasn't even hot and we never saw a waiter or waitress after that. We actually got up went over to the bar to ask for a check for the third time like I said, the food was good, but I don't know if I'd ever return. read more

We went to this restaurant for the first time last week. It was recommended to us by my cousin. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The ambience was wonderful. The huge red poppies painted on the back wall were special to see. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. It was so fresh and beautifully served. It was reasonably priced as well. We started with the mushroom barley soup, which was very flavorful. This was followed by a small serving of potato pancake. Very tasty and not greasy. We had the fried bass which a very delicate breaded coating. The cucumber side tasted just like my grandmother would make. The roasted vegetables had a lovely flavor and were done to perfection, crisp, yet tender. I can't say enough about how we enjoyed this restaurant. We will definitely return. read more

What a fantastic new restaurant in Stroudsburg! We had such a wonderful time enjoying everything on the menu. Connected with the FAMILY OWNED and FAMILY RUN staff over our heritage--celebrated with complementary lemoncello shots. You must check out this local cultural oasis given the chance. I took my mother out for her 99th birthday. We saw a review about Chris' and decided to travel the 40 plus miles to try it. We were very pleased we did. The food was delicious, wait staff was great, friendly and took care of us. My mother was even treated to a shor in honor of her birthday. Ambiance--good for table conversation, quiet background music, exotic locations on tv screens. Service-- welcoming and friendly when first arrived, rest of time attentive to us. Food--where they do exceptional! four meals, shrimp, potato pancakes with goulash, pierogies and a variety of cheese blintzes. First off the pierogies although usually plain and not plated in an appealing manner, these looked appetizing and tasted superb! the potato pancakes with goulash was a step out of our normal yet also exceptional! The shrimp dinner was perfectly presented and cooked. Next came the cheese blintzes, Nutella with cheese, plum with cheese and peach with cheese. All were very good by least favorite was the plum. Peach and Nutella blintzes tied for first in our votes.
