Found this place while looking for good keilbasi and it did not disappoint! I got several different kinds which were all delicious! And thankfully they spoke English unlike some other places we have been to. (Ok to not speak English but the food should at least be labeled in English so I know what I'm ordering!) I basically like the store. Experienced something disturbing and illegal. When my purchase was rung up , the prices were different from sticker prices. Apparently they added on an interest charge which I did not notice until after I left the store. No mention of the fact from cashier and if I would have not asked for a receipt I would have not noticed. Charging a debit card is illegal, only credit cards can be charged. When I swiped my card, she pushed credit......sleazy. The cashier should not be able to choose credit on MY debit card. Then she asked if I wanted a receipt. Never any mention that they would charge extra. they need to read up on this before they continue with this illegal charge. Also, they cannot charge more than they are charged by their credit company, but many establishments are now hitting customers with the extra fee. they can be reported and I am seriously thinking about it. Went to this place to get Easter babka bread and other items. The babka bread and poppyseed cake was very good. The stuffed cabbage was undercooked - watch out. also, anything you buy in the HOT buffet area they tax you on. I thought food was not taxable. Can they do this ? read more

Nice clean deli. Potato pancakes were amazing, tasted just like a flat awesome tater tot. We also had the cherrywood smoked kielbasa, great Smokey flavor. I hate to say but the bacon perogi was ok. read more

This is a fair location and fair polish deli in a pinch. Many homemade polish items and overseas must haves. Maybe i am too used to delis in north east NJ and greenpoint Brooklyn ny for authentic on site smoked hams and kielbasa and kieszka. They dont do it on site and they didnt even have kiezka. Gonna go to a butcher to see if they have that. read more

Halinka is a great store. I cook Polish food so I don't buy their ready to eat hot items, but tried few and they were great. I usually buy sausage, canadian bacon and ham with no preservatives, breads, desserts, marinated wild mushrooms and other canned veggies. Polish hams and sausages are so much better than cold cuts you buy in grocery store. Once you try them you will be back. We visit Halinka weekly and buy a lot of imported Polish food even mineral water. The employees are very friendly and happy to provide advice to customers who are not so familiar with Polish food. What is important as well - especially right now-the store is very clean. read more

This is what is great about small family business. This is a great market with a deli and hot food choices. Food always tastes fresh. Polish authenticity ranks high as imported market goods are imported from Poland however, You don't have to be polish to like this place. A seating area would make the experience more accessible for some. It's more grab and go kinda place. read more

Stopped in for lunch and tried the Polish Sampler # 2: a stuffed cabbage, 2 kielbasa pieces, 3 pierogies and 4 potato pancakes. All very tasty and reasonably priced. For under $10 (+ bottled water) it was easily the best lunch I had all week. read more

What I ate: Walnut cake. It had a creamy texture and the predominant flavor was walnut not sugar or frosting like with other baked goods. It didn't taste too sweet either, it's something that would compliment tea very well. The cakes there range from Polish specialties like walnut cake or apple cake, to overall crowd pleasers like cheesecake. I went back a second time when the hot food was still being served and had a mixed plate of perogis, sausage, potato pancakes, some sort of cabbage leaf stuffed with sour pickled vegetables. I also had a mint apple soft-drink I purchased from the grocery section. The food tasted wasn't outstanding in terms of taste, but its more along the lines of something I could see myself eating regularly..its like comfort food. Service: I was helped by a blonder slightly elderly woman who was as boss as the cake I ate. She read my puzzled yet excited face like a book and offered to answer any questions I had about the food. Misc: I saw many awesome things walking around the store: hot foods like soups, pierogis, kielbasa and many other appetizing things, snacks like candy and chocolate, sauces, teas, foreign soft drinks and pickled vegetables. They also have a nicely furnished dining area in the back. There is a lot of natural light cause of all the windows, which help makes it feel comfortable. It's also quiet as it's decenrly separated from the storefront, there so its a great place to talk casually with friends while you eat. This place is a hidden gem!! Discovered it and have been here many times since. As authentic as you can get. All take out. We started off with a small portion of potato pancakes and then each had a build your own platter with pierogis, stuffed cabbage, and kielbasa. Wish they had a mushroom sauce for the stuffed cabbage but no big deal. They have a bonus of many freezers stocked with a plethora of different pierogis that once boiled melt in your mouth. Even some with fruit inside. They also have a number of different frozen soups and stews. Exceptional! I always make sure to bring the frozen products home for quick meals during a busy week. Had an appointment in the area and found this on yelp, I am married to a Polish person so we were very excited to see something closer to us than Linden. Even though we stopped in 30 minutes before they closed they were absolutely helpful, very friendly and let us take our time. We were like kids in a candy store, they had everything we needed/wanted from the white soup mixes, pickles, rye bread and liver pate with very decent prices. Kielbasa, sliced ham to the cheese from the deli section was fresh and delicious - my kids took it straight out of the bag and ate it as soon as we got home. We even picked up the combo meals, don't tell my mother in law but their pierogi and potato pancakes (even if they were a little on the cold side) was delicious....and I have been to Poland and had them fresh from the farm to table. Definitely will be back, just wish they had one night of later hours since it is hard for us to get to that area before 7pm. read more

Stopped in for quick lunch. No seating, so it was to go. Ordered Polish Sampler for $7.95, which included kielbasa, a sauerkraut stew, pierogies, and stuffed cabbage. The food was delicious. Can't recommend it highly enough. New lunch spot every couple weeks. They have a steam table of prepared dishes that will take you to a typical Polish kitchen. All the food is fresh, authentic and flavorful. I love this place. read more

So glad that I discovered this shop. Halinka's is a rare little gem for those who appreciate authentic Polish food. Their pierogies are delicious and come in different varieties: potato, cheese, onion, sauerkraut, even fruit-flavored. They have cookies (chrusciki!), cakes, pastries as well as a large selection of grocery items straight from Poland. I've tried something which is similar to my mom's haluski (she was Slovak): noodles with cabbage & bacon. Not bad. I look forward to trying their other deli items. read more

Halinka's pierogis are wonderful (almost as good as my sister-in-law's homemade ones), and I love their potato pancakes. I'd like to see more vegetarian options, but that's true of most places I visit. I love the atmosphere in Halinka's. Polish products are everywhere on the shelves, and last time I was there, there were three or four women speaking Polish to Polish women behind the counter. I felt as though I'd stepped out of Hillsborough and into Europe. It was great. I love their food, service is friendly and helpful, and it's a great place to visit. read more

I love when new and interesting businesses pop up. This place is really Polish and they seem to really know what they are doing. The pierogies are out of this world good. Probably the best I have ever had. My mom and I were trying to decide on which pastries to pick out and the person checking out our order was very helpful in describing the different types offered. There was one that I had which was really terrible but the other one I had made up for it and was delicious. Everything is in Polish and can be very confusing, but the two men behind the counter was really nice and helpful. read more

Good quality cold cuts, many polish (imported form Poland) items and home cooked meals and deserts - of course Polish cuisine. I buy often from them. My favorites are natural ham, Kabanos, Polish style cottage cheese and Black Currant juice. read more

The staff is willing to explain what everything is. I tried the walnut cake, with a coffee drizzle on top - a big rectangle of seemingly wine-soaked sponge cake with layers of whipped cream. Lovely, and more flavorful than I usually find whipped-cream-based cakes to be, not exceptionally sweet. The hunter's stew one week had sliced meat, the next, chunked, and more kielbasa the second time, with red and green peppers and a smoky tomato-y sauce, and I enjoyed the stew both times. I loved the Polish pancakes, a sort of a cross between a French crepe and an Ethiopian injera, both the savory filled with sauerkraut and dusted with sauteed breadcrumbs and the sweet filled with sweetened white cheese. read more
