Went to Forks last year and the food was excellent. Returned this year expecting the same great food but what we got was extremely over salted food. Calamari and tomato sauce on the food was blasted in salt. Also the roasted pepper bisque soup was blasted in salt. The chef should reevaluate his salt measuring skills. I also received a cold tuna steak like it was sitting on the counter for 10 minutes before it was served. For the amount of money this place charges they need to do much better. We will not return. On the plus side the server and atmosphere was very nice. Bottom line if you want some food with your salt, this is the place for you. read more

What a pleasant and comfortable environment! Great place to enjoy dinner especially since the servers are so friendly and the interior so cozy. The portions here are hearty and the prices are great. They really feed you! I'd dined in years ago during a bachelorette weekend in the poconos and remembered the place very fondly. I was so excited to return all these years later and find the place nearly unchanged. For my latest experience I enjoyed the chicken cordon bleu sandwich with a mountain of fries. My mom enjoyed her lobster ravioli and clam chowder. With portions this generous, we had plenty of leftovers to take to the hotel. Even though we were full, we still found room for some homemade dessert. After deliberation we decided on the upside down banana cream pie. Unexpected flavor that was so pleasant! I had a 7pm reservation and had appetizer,soup, entree and dessert and was done by 7:50. No one asked how our entrees were or checked on us. I prefer my courses timed and not delivered as fast food. Young kids running through all the doors screaming and playing. Where were the staff and their parents? 150.00 for 2 people before tip and rushed through dinner when the place was pretty empty. We held my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary dinner here. It was a small family celebration. We returned them to the Poconos as they honeymooned there 50 years ago. We were looking for an appropriate restaurant and boy did this place deliver. Our server was charming, referring to them as the bride and groom. We all agreed our drinks were excellent. I live in a big east coast city and know quality drinks. The grilled pineapple margarita was high end and really well done. Kudos to the bartender! We all enjoyed our food. The coconut shrimp were crispy and flavorful. The chicken parm was juicy and the sauce had a good tartness you would find in a classic red sauce joint. The pulled pork nachos had a lovely Smokey flavor and the filet was cooked a perfect medium rare. Plus, it wasn't ridiculously expensive! If we ever come back we would return in a heartbeat to this restaurant and recommend to anyone visiting the Poconos. You all are a class act! read more

Great place to eat. Was in the Tobyhana area, on a midweek ski trip. The filet center cut was awesome... along with carrots and salad. Our waitress was very helpful in making suggestions.... An inviting restaurant with candlelit tables. We had a reservation at 8:00 PM but they were able to seat us earlier by 7:30 PM. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Food was great and they serve generous portions. Once you place your order they will start with warm bread and butter. Bread was perfect, crusty on the outside, soft and warm inside. We ordered Sweet & hot sausages over linguini ($18.95) and Shellfish hot Tuscan oil ($26.95). Their entrees come with either soup or salad. Soup was so comforting; it was pumpkin soup that night and it was creamy, rich and delicious ! Salad was pretty good too. Great pasta, sausages were cooked perfectly. However, some mussels were unopened. We were impressed with the portions and had leftovers for lunch the next day. Wine was pricey; their house red was $10. Our go to restaurant in the area - the service at Forks is always spectacular and the food is delicious. Their desserts are insane - my kids beg us to go every time we are in town just on the off chance one of their favorites is on offer! It is a great spot to sit and eat outside in the summer or cozy up inside by the fire in winter. Appetizers were all outstanding- we had the calamari, mushroom ravioli, and soft shell crab. Loved all of them. Bread for the table was warm and crispy. Tomato soup was so silky and everyone loved it. Caesar salad was also really great, but croutons on top were stale. Dinner is where it wasn't so great. Some of the dishes were REALLY good- the salmon and filet. The shrimp scampi was very disappointing. No flavor at all, this was my dish so I was pretty disappointed with it. The pork chop, while juicy, really didn't have much flavor and the plantains that came with it weren't great either. Tuscan hot oil pasta tasted like jarred sauce rather than homemade. I think their appetizers is where they really shined and some of the dinners were good, but other dinners weren't and so we were disappointed with that. Worth a try and hopefully some of their other meals are better! read more

While we stayed at Skytop Lodge we were desperate for a good worthwhile meal. We found Forks on Yelp and were amazed by our experience! The atmosphere is homey, cozy and warm. A fireplace or wood burning stove to add to the comfort depending on the dining area. Our waitress was delightful and friendly felt as if she was an old friend. The food was top notch, soup or salad and fresh HOT bread to start with your meal. I got the chicken pot pie and my husband got the Smokin' Chipotle stew both of which were the definition of comfort food. We cannot speak highly enough of this gem. We will be back! read more

We wanted something other than the same old menu at Skytop. We kept reading great reviews about the Forks, so we decided to come here instead. Upon sitting down,we admired the beautiful deck. A glance into the dining room revealed beautiful woodwork and paintings (would have bought one of the oil paintings if we have more room at home for it!) Everything looks great until... ...we met our grumpy waitress. She was grumpy from the start. The worse of all, the 2 other waitresses for the tables around us were all wonderful, smiling and joking with their tables. But we have our grumpy one. (The youngest of all.) She did her bare minimum throughout the night, but that's it. Stomping her feet around the deck the entire night as if we were in her way. When we finished our salad, our dirty plates sat for quite a while even though she passes us by several times without acknowledging us. Finally she had to take them away because our food were here. My husband, kid, and I tried to be nice by smiling to her everytime. But yet, we were just an annoynce to her. Worst is that we kept seeing how the other waitresses treated our neighboring tables so nice, why couldn't we have them? When we were paying our bills, my hubby and I were debating how much to tip. We usually tip 20% but would go to 30% if we get great service. My hubby says 15%, and I said no, $5. When she came back with the credit card receipt, she just tossed the pad down without saying a word. Not gently placed it down, it was a toss down as if we didn't even deserve a smile. My hubby decided to give her 10%, even thought I insisted $2. When we were leaving, we gave the other 10% directly to the bartender, knowing that the bartender deserves the tip better. Unfortunately, I don't care how good the food was, I am not going to remember it. We paid over $100 for our meal, and I am pissed at having a less than experience. If I come back, I want the other 2 waitresses. read more

Would give more like 4.5 This place was so nice the outside seating was comfortable and the landscaping made it feel nice and intimate. The inside was nice as well and really had a nice country feel. We started with the pesto dip which was absolutely amazing, as was the fresh bread. My wife had the bacon filet, which was a great piece of meet but was slightly overcooked. Her Cesar salad was okay but just sort of middle of the road, as was my New England clam chowder. I had the apple pork chops. They were good but a little too peppery. Wonderful re-find! Great Ambiance and quiet so that we could all talk and be heard! We visit the area several times each year with family. Have eaten at most of the areas restaurants. However, last night 6 of us went to The Forks for my sisters anniversary. Several of us had steaks and the others veal. Very comfortable setting with a country atmosphere. A juke box playing music with one of its regulars playing along with his harmonica. It was great. What a a absolutely delightful experience. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service (Lauren) was attentive and very gracious. Though we have visited the area for a long time this was our first visit to The Forks. This surely won't be our last. Already we are talking about going back. Great job you hidden gem. read more

Nice little place in an historic building. We ate here while staying at Skytop. Menu was limited, but we all had a seafood pasta dish for dinner, which was decent though not great. A lot of unopened clams, so either an issue with the freshness or the cooking. The bigger issue was that the service was absolutely horrible. The waitress seemed annoyed by our very presence and did little more than take our order and deliver food to our table (unhappily). Maybe they don't like non-locals, I don't know, though the rest of the wait staff seemed to be friendly. She could have just been having a bad day, but it ruined our experience. read more

My fiance and I are regulars at this hidden Gem. We try a different dish every time we go and have been more than pleased! I cannot say enough good things about the staff. We always have the same waitress and she is absolutely wonderful and the cooks are amazing. The bar always has a different cocktail special, usually a martini, and I get whichever one it is. Never ever disappointed. It is a very cozy and welcoming establishment. We have taken our 4 year old daughter there and they are very accomodating to her. She loves going with us!
