We found Chris by a referral from a friend back in late August. He did a huge back yard junk removal and did an excellent job. The job wasn't finished and so we were going to plan another day to take care of that, and he never contacted us back after several attempts to reach him, we finally exhausted our efforts. Which is why I'm not giving 5 stars. The only thing we could think of was that perhaps our initial hauling job caused him to not want to return (shrugs), even though we would have gladly paid extra because we were so pleased with everything the first go round. What a bummer. Outside of the unprofessional way of not getting back to us and ignoring us, if he get's back to you, then I have no doubt in my mind he will be awesome for the job! read more

I was doing some minor decluttering and decided to try Yelp's "request a quote" service. Basically you describe what needs to be hauled away, upload pictures if you like, and then select which companies for bidding. Yelp also provides local recommendations. I got back four responses between 5 minutes to a day, and the prices I got ranged from "X" to nearly "2X!" It does pay to shop around. Chris, The Dude came in tied with the lowest bid, so I chose him to take away a old, scratched-up leather loveseat, an old wooden coffee table, and an heavy steel safe. He communicated throughout Yelp Messenger and even showed up way ahead of schedule, which suits me fine. He worked alone and was friendly, efficient, and quick. I have a pretty narrow entry hallway so it took some maneuvering to get that couch out. Definitely recommend the Dude for helping out with junk hauling and decluttering. read more

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! We first hired Chris when we had to have a very old and unwanted piano removed from our basement. It was like pulling a camel through the eye of a needle.....seemingly impossible (the piano could not fit through any of our doorways)! A challenge? Yes. An impossibility? We thought so, but NOT for Chris! He did an amazing job dismantling the piano so that it was fully removable. Watching him and his ability were awing! We just moved and had a bunch of junk to get rid of... a stackable washer/dryer, an old fridge, large cardboard boxes and styrofoam from new furniture, as well as some demolition materials like wood, stucco, and such. On a trip to Ace Hardware, we asked if they knew anyone who hauls, but they didn't have any recommendations. When we left, it wasn't even 5 minutes later and we see a "Chris the Dude" hauling truck in front of us! So I snapped a photo so I could remember the information when I got home. This past Monday (it was 4th of July), I emailed him to ask his availability, and within a few hours he emailed me back saying he could do it the next day and asked for photos of what we had. I sent a few pictures over to him, and he gave us a price. He showed up only a little later than expected, but he and his partner got everything packed up and hauled away quick. Chris, The Dude helped me take care of a problem last weekend. He was flexible and agreed to come to my house on a Sunday to haul away my broken down hot tub. When I saw his trailer, I thought it was too small, thinking he was taking everything in one piece. Instead, he took out a Sawz-all, installed a new blade and proceeded to cut the hot tub into pieces. He fit all of the debris into this trailer, cleaned up the work area and hauled it away. I believe in being accurate when I rate a company so we consumers have a reliable way of making decisions, and I'm confident this five star rating is well deserved! I'm happy to say that I couldn't have made a better decision about who to hire to remove a huge pile of decking debris from my yard! Chris told me he'd be at my house at 11:00 am, and he arrived exactly on time. The added bonus for me, was that he also texted me when he was leaving his yard to give me a heads up. He and Brendon worked steadily and quietly, and it was heart warming to see them interact. They seemed to enjoy working together which made it a pleasure having them here. My parents finally got a new set of couches but we were having the darnedest time trying to find what to do w/ the old ones. The frames were still sturdy but they needed reupholstering....which unfortunately meant ZERO charities had interest .......our only option was the dump After my dad unknowingly made an appt w/ a place that was a complete rip off, I demanded he cancel that appt & took charge of the situation I spent *hours* calling around & getting equally obscene quotes....man is life different in the East Bay. Not only does he do dump runs but he also took a couch of mine to a colleague of mine. I would definitely recommend him for any dump runs, moves, furniture pickups, etc. Although I haven't used him for towing cars - I know that's part of something he can do.
