The power of Yelp continues. So a friend of mine had to move recently and although most moves means cleaning out the house, this was no project for a human. We are speaking of ten years worth of junk and items that basically no longer served any purpose other than accumulate dust and carpet beetle larvae. Society, let this serve as an example. By hoarding and being lazy means those ten years of lacking priorities and initiatives will come back to haunt oneself, either in the pocketbook or by becoming the pariah of your neighbors once the source of junk hoarding has been made public! Located East Bay hauling after contacting a few of my Yelp contacts here and inquiring about the level of service and cost. Every one of my contacts reported back that the service was efficient and quick. I prefer to utilize local businesses in this respect so after a few messages via Yelp, scheduled him in for an early session. First off, the man is efficient. My friend had several ugly bookcases as well as a junky BBQ grill that Nick leveled into flat pieces in under ten minutes with a sledgehammer. I donned workgloves and assisted in picking up particle wood shelving from Ikea twin beds and drawers, a heavy 7x7 POS sofa, 2 lamps, mattresses, posters, picture frames, desk chairs, and other items that a divorced male single parent accumulate when not prioritizing. IE., socializing over cleaning before the ink barely dries on the judgement papers. Nick managed to coordinate and pack onto his truck everything and tied down and ready to go in less than an hour. If my friend had done this himself, it would have taken him at least 3 hours. This level of service and efficiency is unbelievable. Please pay attention to the rates on his website regarding the additional fees for mattresses and tires, but the rate per hour is so reasonable, especially since our meeting was a one-man job. I had no problems pitching in bringing stuff out to the curb. My friend ended up contracting Nick 3 times for haul away and each time, he was timely and efficient. Nick moved my "new" 1950s O'Keefe and Merrit stove (ITS VERY HEAVY, Oh probably 500 lbs of cast iron and chromed out steel.). Not only did he move it through a tight doorway, with less than 1/2 inch to spare, but he also took the time to carefully protect it for the bumpy freeway drive. I could see he was treating my prized possession with the same care and concern I would have, which is the highest complement I can give. As he and his assistant moved it into, and out of his truck, I was glad he had that great Tommy lift and all his "moving" accessories. Having the right tools can make the difference between your valuables arriving in perfect order, and is a good sign that Nick takes his job seriously. (Anyone claiming they can move a O&M Stove without the right tools is a fool.) Nick was perfectly on time for our appointment. The move went very efficiently and I'm completely satisfied.
