It was on a Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when most repair shops are closed. My wife looked online and found great reviews for Eugene's. She called him and we took the vehicle to his shop (only a few miles away). When we arrived, I told him where we were headed and he told me to take my family (5 kids and wife) back into town (an area called "South of the Border"), where there were shops that were air-conditioned and bring the vehicle back. I did and brought the vehicle back. He and his assistant, Orlando, found that it was a bad rear wheel bearing and brake pads. Unfortunately, the wheel bearing was seized on since the vehicle is a 2004 and the original part. It took power tools, hand tools, elbow grease, a torch, and finally a push/press device to remove the wheel bearing...after 3 hours of trying. I was impressed! I watched these guys work; never frustrated, just kept looking for a solution. What's more is they were supposed to be CLOSED. If you look at their hours online, they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. These guys worked on our vehicle all afternoon, with Eugene even going to the local parts store to grab the wheel bearing and pads. He did not overcharge (and certainly could have) for the work and not being opened...or he could have simply said that he was not open that day. Eugene is what I call a good ol' boy. He is truly a good man who enjoys helping people, and he told me that he has helped many people from all over the U.S. If you are in the area of Rowland and in need of emergency car service, give Eugene's a call. After a few attempts to call AAA, who btw, could tow us to the nearest Auto Repair shop and drop us off. I googled car repair shops near where we were, and Billy came to us within 10 minutes!! Billy diagnosed the problem in like 10 minutes. All of the lug nuts on our tires were loose and 2 were missing with damage in what appeared to be done on purpose. We had been traveling, and we assume someone tried to steal our wheels. We could have been killed! Billy was able to tighten everything and assured us we could make it 200 miles away to Savannah, our destination. He said to stop after 30 minutes and check to make sure the lugs were still tight, which we did. He even called us 2x along the way to make sure all was good. Billy was very knowledgeable and quite frankly was our "Angel" last night. If you're ever in his area, don't hesitate to call him. He was incredible. Knowing that the Black's Tire and Auto Service (BTS) in Dillon was only 2 miles away, I called and spoke to Amelia Avant. When I told her my issue, she told me to bring it in. Upon arrival, Mike Marinzulich met me outside and immediately took my vehicle in for diagnosis. Keep in my I had my wife, and my 5 and 2 year old daughters with me...and the team at BTS was so accommodating and friendly. Within 20 minutes I was able to personally speak to the mechanic who gave me a thorough description of issues. Didn't stop there! While I thought our day trip was done, Amelia and Mike secured a loaner vehicle for my family to continue our day trip while they handled my vehicle. I brought a CRV to Rowell's last year and they told me the The timing belt was broken and the…read moreengine was not worth fixing. I got another engine and they put it in and there were problems with one of the valves. So I took the original head to have it rebuilt, however, the Head repair shop said there was nothing wrong with it. In other words the original engine was in good shape it just needed a timing belt. I rebuilt the head anyway and had Rowell's thoroughly check out the vehicle to make sure everything was in good shape and fix anything that wasn't. Nine months later, the vehicle throws a rod. After I had spent $3000 nine months earlier, the vehicle needs a new engine. On top of that I had to rush off to Florida to help take care of my 95-year-old dying mother. I am almost 70 years old and on Social Security. So I have no money to fix the vehicle. Then, the service manager tells me that someone is interested in buying it. I call them up and they say they will give me $500. I agree. Then I get a call a month later from Rowell's saying the car is still there. Evidently The buyer was sick. So I asked a friend to get it. Then rowell's sends me a $900 invoice for 30 days storage fee. 100 ft.² of pavement for $900 a month. My friends and I pay $800 a month for a 3500 square-foot house on 100,000 ft.² of land. I said I did not think that was fair and they said that's how they make their money This is the way they do business at Rowell's Garage.
