I can't say enough good things about Christ the Cornerstone Academy. From the very first day I toured the school, Ms. Tammy was so welcoming and immediately made me feel at home -- I knew right away this was a special place. My daughter started in the 2-year-old classroom with Ms. Susan, and the experience was beyond anything I expected. Within her first week, she had potty trained herself -- something I still can't quite believe. I had braced myself for the horror stories I'd heard from friends and family, and instead Ms. Susan made it effortless. As a parent, I was apprehensive about leaving my child in someone else's care, but from day one I felt completely comfortable and confident that she was well taken care of. Every single teacher at CTCA exceeded our expectations. Each one brought their own unique strengths to the classroom, and our kids were genuinely loved and had good morals instilled in them along the way. I especially want to thank Ms. Becca. I was torn between the free TK option and investing in my daughter's education here, and I am so grateful I chose to keep her at this school. Ms. Becca sent her into Kindergarten with confidence, strong social skills, and -- most importantly -- a real academic foundation. To this day, my daughter still talks about things she learned in Ms. Becca's class, and she is currently performing above grade level in her academics. That speaks for itself. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the music program -- it's the best. Ms. Carrel made music and singing so fun and engaging that my daughter absolutely loves to sing now. It's become one of her favorite things, and watching that love for music grow has been such a joy. We now have a little boy, and I cannot wait for him to start at CTCA and have the same experience his sister did. I love this school so much that I've been recommending it to everyone I know. My oldest daughter started at 2.5 yo and she really loved it here. She felt like she really belonged and insisted that we keep her here even though there was another preschool closer to home. She is now 6 and remembers what her teachers (especially Ms. Becca) have taught her. She is comfortable with drawing and writing in kindergarten thanks to her well developed fine motor and gross motor skills during her time at this preschool. When she became a kindergartener in the public school system, she helped her friends with opening lunchboxes, was confident in using the restroom and setting appropriate boundaries in friendships. Our second daughter is now in Ms. Becca's class at this preschool and she couldn't be more excited. She had wonderful and caring teachers ( Ms. Mariah and Ms. Winnie) who helped her become comfortable with school. We are grateful to have found this school and to have stayed here over the years. We started at CTC after Mira Mesa Christian Preschool abruptly shutdown two years ago. The closure turned out to be a blessing a disguise. We love Christ The Cornerstone. CTC is small but mighty. My little girls have developed a beautiful love for the Lord. My oldest, 6, is thriving in Kindergarten and my youngest, almost 4, is really enjoying her class and school friends. I highly recommend CTC for parents looking for a Christ-centered and reasonably priced alternative to public school. The elementary school emphasizes values that are extremely important to our family. It also prioritizes learning and does so in an environment where the kids get extra attention. My kindergartner is one of eight kids taught by an excellent teacher. She is reading and writing extremely well for her age. Plus, she memorizes a new Bible verse every week. And we love the variety of after-school clubs that are offered. The after-school daycare option is very cheap and well run. And the summer program is great too. On the preschool side, we adore Ms. Kat and Ms. Angela, who have taken extra special care of our girls. The preschool also has nice classrooms, as well as a perfect, age-appropriate playground and grassy area. My littlest always seems to be having a blast when I come to pick her up in the afternoon. read more

This review is long overdue as our child had attended Christ the Cornerstone Academy from preschool through elementary school. We knew it was the right school from the beginning when our child's eyes lit up from the playground during the tour. The teachers are amazing and the class sizes are small so your child will get the attention they need. Shout out to teachers past and present including Ms Jackson, Ms Marilyn, Ms Schram, Ms Carrel, Ms Carlos, Mr Marvin, and especially Ms Bortz for taking the time to really get to know the kids! In addition to their normal classroom, kids will also get to go to weekly chapel, take physical education, music, and computer classes. There is also affordable after school daycare and summer sessions. Various field trips will have your children learning outside the classroom too. Students participate in Christmas and spring musicals which are always fun to see how much talent and enthusiasm they all have. Last but not least, I loved the classroom grandparents that would come read to the kids or help out with special occasions. Like celebrating birthdays. We are satisfied with our experience at Christ the Cornerstone Academy! Our 3-year-old son is currently enrolled in the Friendly Fox class. Our son has made significant progress with his English skills, as well as his ability to follow instructions and greet others. I can't say enough great things about CTCA. This was the first year for our kids at the school since we made the decision to take our kids out of public school. Best decision we have ever made. Our children's teachers have been beyond amazing. Our kindergartener is on the spectrum and we were afraid the change might have a negative effect on her, but it was the opposite. She was blessed with and amazing teacher, Ms. Choi and she can't get enough of the school. To the point that she wants to go to after school day care and wants to be one of the last kids to come home. She is always so happy to go to school and when she can't attend due to illness she feels sad. Not only is the school amazing so is their summer program. My wife searched far and wide for our son (at the time was 2 years old) when it was time to put him into a daycare facility. We are quick to assess and I will say we are very happy with the teachers, the environment, and the academy as a whole. He's been there since October 2021 and our daughter will start this year in October as well. (2nd grade class) The most important thing for me - I'm especially happy with the teachers, I can tell they care and really teach them well. It is not easy by any means to take care, let alone teach, a group of 2,3,4, or even 5 year olds. I know it can get frustrating but here they are day in and day out, and I see the kids behaving very well and happy with their environment. When it's time to pick up my son, I can hear and see the interactions between the teachers and kids and I can tell that they have good relationships with them. I cannot say enough how great this school is. Caring teachers, abundant school activities and happy kids. They have weekly music class and playball class (playball is outside of tuition but super affordable). We've been sending our kids to different schools but this one is definitely our favorite. The teachers are pouring their heart to help the kids grow emotionally and academically. My boys are having the best time at CTCA. If you are a Jesus follower, it is even better. They teach the truth from Bible and have weekly chapel service. The boys always surprise me with the worship songs and bible stories they learned at school. My son attend this school so I strongly recommend CTCA to whom wants to find a school which has a God oriented education and teachers who teaches kids with love and the truth. They have amazing music program which every kids make a great musical every seasons and occasions including instrumental playing and dance. Teacher student ratio is also amazing. We discovered Christ the Cornerstone in April of 2023. We moved our son out of San Diego Unified and haven't regretted our decision. Christ the Cornerstone has been an amazing school for our son. The staff and teachers are amazing. When we first enrolled, our son was far behind where he should have been due to the lack of education provided in his public school. His levels across all subjects have drastically improved. In his first four months, his reading and comprehension went from below a first-grade level to a second-grade level. The same for his math skills. I credit his teacher, Mrs. Dosch, for spending the extra time and effort in making him feel comfortable and instilling the desire to learn. He loves going to school now. He also joined the chimes choir and loves learning music. Mrs. Carel does a fantastic job putting together the school plays and choir musicals. We are so happy we have found a school where our son can thrive and learn in a Christian environment. The only negative with this school is they don't go all the way through middle school. We have our fingers crossed; they will be able to grow before our son moves on to middle school. I would recommend Christ the Cornerstone to anyone want their child to have a great education based in faith. read more

My kids have been at CTC since they were 3 yrs old. I can't say enough on how great the preschool teachers are at every level. My kids were always excited to go to school everyday. I don't even know where to start. I don't want to write a lot but I need to share my experience. For the last 6 months my 2nd grader has been experiencing some horrible headaches. The doctors and medication have not been helpful at all. The ENTIRE staff at CTCA, teachers, directors, music teachers, PE teachers, her own teacher, have been amazingly understanding throughout this stressful process. They ALL ask me how she is doing and assure me they are praying for her. They accommodated her every step of the way when her headaches were so debilitating that she could not continue with her day. It was anywhere from laying her head down at her desk to even taking a nap in the class library. All the teachers there really care about the students' education and the music teacher puts so much effort in their musical programs and really loves the kids. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Not to mention their Godly principles are right where they are supposed to be. My daughters have developed such a devotion for God's word and my 8yo learned about baptisms and even was baptized at our church. We enrolled our children at CTCA after seeing all the great recommendations in our local neighbor group and it did not disappoint. My daughters started attending CTCA when they were 2 years old. We have had the best experiences at this school. Even though we were not parishioners there, they welcomed us like family and have always made us feel at home. My 2 oldest daughters have thrived there. They love their teachers and all the staff. My oldest daughter has severe food allergies and we have had not one problem since she has been going there for almost 4 years now- she is currently in the kindergarten class on the elementary school side. C go above and beyond to make sure our children are safe, loved, and receiving a high level education that also includes lessons on loving others, being kind, and that God loves them no matter what! We will send my youngest daughter there to join them later this year and she is so excited to attend school with her sisters. CTCA really helped make the decision to send our girls back to in-person learning, after a brief time away last year, much easier. Amazing elementary school with caring teachers and staff! We moved our son here during Covid shut down and were only planning to stay for the one semester but he excelled so much that we stayed! Small class sizes where teacher can give each student the level work they need has been amazing. He gets extra help where he needs it and is able to work on advance work where it is appropriate. He gets PE, music, computers (actually working on programming, typing assignments, using spreadsheets etc even in 2nd grade - not just playing computer or typing games) all multiple times a week. This school is a gem and such a blessing to my family. My son is now in first grade and has attended since 4 years old. I would say it is a very wholesome, positive, loving and safe environment and we love all of the teachers and staff. They are so kind and seem genuinely happy to be working there. My son looks forward to going to school everyday. Also, I have a teaching background and I feel like the curriculum and academics here are very well balanced - not too lenient or rigorous. Also because of the small class sizes, my son's teachers have been able to focus specifically on his needs. This school is a hidden gem. ( No, I was not paid to write this.) It may look unappealing from the outside, but all the staff and students are lovely. The school is small enough so everyone knows everyone, and my child is very happy there. She has learned many important lessons in a caring, helpful environment. I cannot speak for the preschool as we have not had a need for those services, but I trust they are just as good as the dayschool. My child attended CTC 3 year old preschool until Kindergarten and our family loved it. We could not find any daycare/public school in 2013 that measured up to this school. We loved that it was academic and our daughter was challenged, which kept her from becoming bored like she was in daycare. We loved all of her preschool teachers, all of whom were attentive to her needs. The preschool director listened to my concerns and made adjustment to fit my child's needs. Unfortunately, the school has lost many of the preschool teachers and the new ones do not seem to be as friendly and welcoming (in passing). On the plus side, the school has opened a 2 year old program, but I was not a fan of it. The two year old teacher seemed distant and I noticed there was no interaction with my child on multiple occasions (at different times of the day). The toys also did not seem age appropriate from what I saw. Lastly, kindergarten was awesome. My daughter loved it. Academically they are doing things that public kinder was not doing.The children are exposed to many countries, learn to read, spell, write stories, they started the day with bible study/lesson (my child's favorite), computers, art, and even did a little cooking with the teacher's special guest.They also provide after school clubs for a small fee plus daycare charges. They have small classes. They plan several field trips throughout the year, which the kids loved. I loved that the parents and there for each other without hesitation. Oh, for the new school year, they are looking for expand daycare and open at 6:30 am, which would really help some parents. Hopefully it happens. We had to leave the school before the end of the school for a job opportunity, but once we get everything in order, we hope to return to San Diego and Return to CTC in the future. read more

From the moment I step foot in this place, I knew CTCA was the right place for my son. From the school director to the secretary, everyone here has that genuine appreciation of caring for kids the way God intended. The teachers are very informative and have the goals for your child to succeed. My son is 4 years old and enrolled in Pre-K. After the first day of school, the director recommended that his current class was too big and would benefit more in a smaller class. We agreed and he was put into a class of 10 students. He has been excelling more and more each day. They really do care about his growth and development. I love the fact they will take the time to give you sort of a quick but detailed daily report of his progress and what we as parents can do to help further his learning development. Christ the Cornerstone church and academy have helped me raise my two boys. They both started in the 3 year old class in Preschool. My oldest graduated in 5th grade Wangenheim Middle School. The middle schools in Mira Mesa know that Christ the Cornerstone Academy is an excellent academic school. His middle school teachers recommend my oldest son to be the GATE program. His teacher also wanted him to be part of the ASB! He is thriving socially and academically! My youngest is in the 5th grade and will graduate in the spring. He always receives A's and B's and participates in the Student Council, just like his brother did. It is bittersweet that my youngest will be graduating from CTCA, but I know that he is prepared socially and academically for middle school. ALL the CTCA teachers my boys had from Preschool to 5th grade were excellent. They all taught my boys about Christ's love and how to serve others in need. The teachers were caring disciplinarians. My boys are respectful and always got Student of the Month awards. CTCA has a great well-rounded academic curriculum, including pull-out classes, such as music, computer, and PE twice a week. My boys also enjoy the summer program, which includes Art, cooking, and Music, along with reading and math and Field trips!!! CTCA is an extended family to me, as a parent, because they helped me raise my boys. I am proud of my boys' excellent academic achievements. Also, my boys grew with foundations in Christ's love and respect for people and God's other creations through the actions of the CTCA teachers and staff.
