After years of football, baseball, weightlifting and running, my knee began swelling bad. I had a medial meniscus surgery in 2013 and needed a second surgery a few months ago. My surgeon had to do more "clean up" than what the MRI showed. I had the cartilage behind my kneecap scraped to grow back smooth. Although I was feeling better post-op, I still could not run. So I sought out alternative treatments. Stem Cell+PRP injections always intrigued me so that was my next step. Kellie advised me to make 2 appointments with her office. One to draw my blood (PRP utilizes your own platelets) and another about 1.5-2hrs later for the Stem Cell + PRP injection. Kellie used a topical numbing spray as she did the injection. The pain was more discomfort (which says a lot because I hate needles) than anything. My knee was sore after and Kellie said to walk carefully as I had a lot of excess fluid in my joint. After 2 days I was walking normal and on the 4th day, I was able to run a mile. Not far but that was my 5th time running post op. My knee felt great during my run and after being on my feet all day- I still feel great. Additionally, wait times to be seen for scheduled appointments have gotten much worse. Today, I had an appointment for 11am, arrived 15 minutes early, and still waited over 2 HOURS, at which point I asked for a refund of my copay as I needed to return to work. I don't know if this office is prioritizing cosmetic procedures over regular patients, but if that is the case they need to just switch to focusing solely on cosmetics so their PCP patients can receive sufficient care. Update: When I asked for a followup on the status of my refund, I received no response, just a text message with a link to an electronic receipt. However, after checking with my bank, I confirmed I was not refunded and had to issue a claim with my bank to recoup the cost.
