First off I want to give a very high recommendation for the Bistro in the Salon. Toya's Bistro and Catering kept me full for breakfast and lunch due to a scheduling mishap. A very nice friendly place to eat with a good selection of choices for vegetarians which is not always to be found. The breakfast was lovely and a great value as well as the selection for lunch. Great service and a nice relaxing place to eat even when not having your hair done. The home styled meal were so delicious I took home a to go order as well. If you want a to go meal or dine in this is the place to go. (Toya's Bistro and Catering 773-530-5634) Now for the Salon experience itself. I was mildly disappointed at a scheduling conflict at the front desk, for me time is of the essence. I settled in to the bistro and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. And before I knew it my appointment time came. I was treated to the most wonderful experience of having my natural hair washed and conditioned. My stylist was Mecca, beforehand was a consultation which was very helpful. Not only was I educated about every product used but the conversation was deep on so many levels before I knew it my hair was completed and it went above and beyond all my expectations. Everywhere I go I receive compliments. Thanks to a wonderful stylist named Mecca. Christian Fields Style Bar is so upscale but also very inviting the atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff is knowledgeable . Every client that I saw was a walking work of art. Creativity abounds not only in the Stylist with Mecca being at the forefront but with Toya's Bistro and the dishes on par with the environment. First off, i want to give a shout out to Zoe for this amazing color he put on my tips (I went to the shop on 1/11/13). I also want to give praise to my loctician, Melissa, for hooking my hair up everytime I made an appointment and my barber, Will, for the fresh linings (edge-ups). If it wasn't for that guy who recommended me to Melissa and that shop, I would feel as if i would be missing out on excellent loc maintenance and customer service. Christian Fields is the best style bar in Chicago; hands down! For those who have bad reviews to write about them, smack yourselves immediately!!! From the customer service, to the stylists, and even to the amazing snack bar that they have, Christian Fields is the best place to go for natural hairstyles! TOTALLY AMAZING!!!! The interior design and CLEANLINESS of the salon was exemplary of how an upscale establishment should be. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist with a sincere smile. She took my coat and welcomed me to the salon. I wanted to look around and without hesitation she gave me a tour. I looked at the customers who were sitting in the salon chairs I was convinced that the level of creativity and compententcy excel mediocre. I also was impressed by the juice bar/restaurant. The cook, Toya, not only prepared a wonderful meal her personality is sincere and she was funny as ever! This salon is fantastic! The atmosphere is very calming and earthy, and it's always clean and smells great (unlike regular salons that smell like chemicals). Anywho, my loctician is Shahid, and I adore him! He is always very accomodating to my scheduling request and very knowledgable about Locs in general. Not to mention he always does a great job on my hair! I recently had Lorenzo color my Locs. I wasn't positive the exact color I wanted, but he made me feel super comfortable and even explained what he was doing every step of the way. My color turned out fabulously and I got tons of compliments. I super appreciate both Shahid and Lorenzo, and plan to keep them on my team for the foreseeable future :-)! read more

My fiancee is getting ready for medical school, and wanted a place to maintain his locks and help them to start looking more "professional". Ive looked up maybe 10 different salons trying to find the perfect place for him to go. Our first time here was great other than his appointment being scheduled for 11 and not being seen until 12, we live in carol stream and after and hour trip waiting an hour to see a stylist is somewhat upsetting. Other than that we ate a great breakfast in the restaurant in the back, everybody is very professional, and the salon has a nice atmosphere. We'll be back for sure. read more

The shop is awesome. Everyone's courteous but, my review is solely for Larenzo!! He hooked my color up! I've been searching for a place where I felt comfortable to get my locs colored. What takes this place to a one star is the receptionist Jen. This was once my favorite place to get my hair done but Jen at the front desk makes an additional effort to be unpleasant at all times. Christian Fields has too good of a reputation to be tarnished by unpleasant receptionist. She is the complete opposite of what Christian Fields represents.
