They can do pretty much any service. It's 2025 make an appointment but they do take walk ins. You cannot expect quality stylist to always be available at any time of the day. Desiree O'Kellye owner of Desi's Full Service Salon located 2130 W. 95th Street, Chicago, IL 60643, employee Daya Carter nail technician and Lena Taylor allowed employee (by Desi) is responsible for life threatening injuries, negligence and non-duty of care to me. Lena Taylor scraped a generous amount of skin off of my foot, placed it back in dirty water and caused a bacterial infection that could had been to the demise of me. It took until June to fully heal and it left permanent scarring. Again, the injury took place in Desi's Salon on March 30, 2022 by Lena Taylor. I have requested to the owner via phone and texts for Desi to release and provide me with the shop's insurance information. This request has been made on several occasions and is now anticipated to be completed by Desiree O'Kelley, owner of Desi's Full Service Salon. To this date, it has not been submitted. I have been going to a stylist here for a while now, recently I paid her to do a loc repair for $200 , mind you I had sent pictures and scheduled an appointment on Tuesday she said was her slow days. Once I arrived she saw my hair knowing I had appointment paid for parking and all just for her to not do my hair that day, I was disappointed but I left without showing. Once I did actually get the loc repair literally the same day I left the shop not even 4 hr couldn't even lay down yet and I had dreads coming out. I sent my stylist (Key) pictures she was understanding and told me come back she will fix it and it May take 2 months before my hair grow back together. It's been going on 5 months now and locs still detaching yet at this point her and her assistant has been giving me the run around as I constantly try to book appointments with them when every time I paid full amount left happy and peacefully. Now I pad 200 for a loc repair still losing locs 4 months later now have to find and pay new stylist AGAIN for the same loc repair that never got fixed properly. They don't take the customers I can show her telling me to text her assistant for appointment when hold time she had 0 intentions on helping with my hair anymore when she could have just communicated that with me professionally! Not to mention the day I got my loc repair she asked me to bring her a hoody from my clothing line she received the hoody never once paid for it even literally yet im stil not welcomed as a customer ! read more

Awesome! The girls really make you feel welcomed. I was able to do a walk-in and have my hair serviced. The area is comfortable. Thing is there was on street parking so be ready to pay for parking unless you can find a park on a nearby block (which most require a permit sticker though) Overall, this seems to be my new place to go to regularly. I would give zero stars if I could. I'll preface this review with 1. It seems like they do great hair here and 2. My child is very tender headed. I came to Desi's for the first time today a little after 5 pm. I asked if they would be able to detangle my daughters hair and blow dry and flat iron it and they told me it wouldn't be a problem. I was introduced to Raymi the stylist who said she could do my daughter's hair. I asked if she thought it would be two hours and she said yes, that there were two people ahead of me. We waited about a half hour for my daughter to get her hair washed while she worked on her first customer. At about ten to 6 my daughter went back to get her hair washed. My daughter sat with conditioner for 45 minutes while Raymis assistant washed the second clients hair. At about 630 the assistant rinsed the conditioner out of my daughters hair and detangled it. She finished at 7 o'clock and asked us to go sit back down. A half hour of sitting on the couch at 730 she put my daughter in a chair and prepared to blow dry it. At this time Raymi told me she was taking a break because she needs breaks when she can get them, then proceeded to go to the back and eat pizza while my daughter sat in a chair with nothing being done. After that she came from the back took my daughter out of the chair and said her assistant was going to work on someone else before my daughter "just to be fair" while she finished up her second client (remember there were two people ahead of my daughter) and I'm not sure where this third person came from out of nowhere. An hour later, When the assistant finished this third person, who now goes to Raymi to get her hair finished (the assistant does the prep) she calls my daughter who is already tired at this point, to be blow dried. It is now 830. While being blow dried my daughter cried, as she is tender headed, but everyone in the salon was super understanding. Her crying didn't stop the assistant from getting the job done, the she was actually really great in comparison to the stylist. The blow dry was finished a little after nine and when it was done we were asked to sit on the couch AGAIN to wait for the stylist. Finally at 10 o'clock Raymi was ready to flat iron my daughters hair THE LAST STEP. When she started flat ironing my daughters hair my daughter cried a little, at which point Raymi showed her ass, and said "I'm not going to do this if she keeps crying, I have clients waiting". I said it's fine my daughter is tired, I didn't think we'd be here for five hours, and I'm thinking we would get an apology and maybe she'd say come back and finish tomorrow. NOPE, to hell with customer service. Raymi with complete attitude tried to blame the amount of time spent at the salon on my daughter crying (who she didn't have a problem with two hours prior and joked about it) . Then she told me that I was not at the salon since five o'clock, which clearly I had been, and that I didn't sit on the couch for what amounts to three hours in between every step of the process. She also mentioned that I should be prepared to sit there all day if I have to Thursday through Saturday, which, if that was the case why wasn't I told in the beginning, I could have came back an made an appointment! Long story short, she demanded I pay for a wash and blow dry to which I said hell to the no- I came here for a service, and after dealing with terrible service for five hours I'm absolutely not paying for a job Not Done. Instead of trying to blame the client maybe Raymi should learn to better manage her time and be organized, instead of letting a five year old sit in a salon for five hours, 3 of which were spent sitting on a damn couch and two of which were actually spent on hair! It's unfortunate this happened, and this salon missed out on a great client!! We definitely will not be back, due to the inconsiderate behavior and poor time management of the stylist. read more

I had such high hopes for this salon but unfortunately I will not go back. The staff was not very friendly but the most upsetting issue is the " bait and switch ", I saw one price online but when my stylist was finished with my hair she charged me $165, for crochet braids and she did not even shampoo my hair. The style looked nice enough but $165, no shampoo, and she only crocheted about 3/4s of my head, not to mention I had to leave to go and get more cash because she did not accept credit / debit cards. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Marissa. Outside of the shop you have to pay for parking. Her knowing that, she had me waiting for over 30 minutes and I was a few minutes early, not late. Who knows how long I would have had to wait but I didn't want to find out. I left and when I told her I was leaving because we scheduled for a certain time & I'm on the meter, she just said ok. I have been to many beauty salons in my lifetime and I can honestly say that this is one of the better ones. It is a full service shop and the people there are personable. My stylist is Candi and she can create anything I can dream of. She is also knowledgeable, witty and has a great sense of humor. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to go here. My 17 year old family member had an appointment at 1 o'clock (this past Wednesday) and left after 7 p.m. without receiving service. The stylist did not check on her throughout the wait, did not reach out to her mother to provide an update, took people ahead of her repeatedly... she was unprofessional to the highest degree. Whether she was 17 or 47, no one should be mistreated this way. To tell a minor that she had to take customers from the previous day ahead of her SCHEDULED appointment was highly unprofessional. She didn't mention that on the phone nor when she was dropped off by her mother. I wouldn't recommend this place even if the services were free. Period. Reading some of the past reviews it seems this is a trend and problem with this establishment. Maybe they need to reset and reflect on their professional practice or go out of business... Monique is the cats meow and the dogs bow-wow!!!! I live in Georgia but my home is Chicago. I called the salon in desperation for a northern hair cut. My hair is naturally soft and curly. I put a kiddie perm which soften my curl but I needed a sharp short hair cut. I had gone to two white salons in Georgia (need I say more). When I saw my hair I needed a miracle from God for a hair restoration. I spoke to Monique told her my problem she was very relaxed and confident. She got me in the next morning. I told her I would love to have my hair colored but the stylists in Georgia told me I would have to have my hair stripped with bleach then come over and over again to get the right color (really???). Monique told me she had been doing hair for over 25 years and my hair would take color. I must admit I was a little skeptical but (BAM) when I saw my hair I was sooooo pleased with the color. I showed her a picture of the short style and color I wanted and she did it, she did it. Monique is awesome so I do come home a lot she will be the one who I will be contacting. I made an appointment Thursday for a Saturday appointment. I had to introduce myself to Monique because she failed to even try to know my name. Even on my appointment day she still failed to know my name. I believe she knows what she is doing but her professionalism is horrid. She criticized my hair texture and thickness multiple times. She had me help her with a roller set and called me slow because I did not know how to help her pass her certain supplies for rolling. I told her I have never done this before and had to say it in a manner of not yelling but don't test me. She stated, "Oh we'll I thought everyone had this done once in their life." I'm going don't ASSume. I pay my stylist to do this. If I wanted to do it myself I wouldn't be there. I spent 5 hours in the salon. The door says they take credit cards but everyone uses the credit card app on their IPhones. Monique's did not happen to work that day and I had to leave to go to the bank. She gave me this excuse of how she ordered a new one which was fine but she goes well I prefer cash. She could of left it at that but then I started to think was she lying or telling the truth. BTW parking is hard to find. I do not need to argue with a hairstylists and I do not want to hear every second of how gorgeous it is going to be. Nothing wrong with being confident but sheesh. My hair only lasted a week and frizzed up like crazy. She was afraid to give me tips on how to keep it moisturized as if I was not come back, I did not come back because of that and the other stuff I went through. The place is pretty crowded but I can say the receptionist was friendly and they do support African American businesses that sell products from their business. So beware!! read more
