In my case, I purchased an expensive pair of glasses from their 'Boutique.' After wearing them a couple of days, I found they were a defective design--the cross bar protruded badly into the line of vision, rendering the glasses unusable. I was put through hell getting a refund even when the office manager acknowledged the defect--and I was 'banned' by letter from even entering their 'Boutique,' even with my disabled wife. I called the office and they said yes they have frames for kids and sports glasses (I just signed him up for tee ball and the coach recommended them). Just come on in, the receptionist said! Great. My son and I drove to the River City office in East Sac from North Natomas, so a bit of a trek. As soon as we walked into the office, which was a beautiful bright setup- the vibe was weird. The few patients in the waiting area just stared at us and the reception staff were cold. I'm assuming the front desk gal (older Asian woman- I am also an Asian woman) was the one I talked to on the phone and I said I called about the child glasses. She asked me to fill in forms for my son. He is under my husband's vision insurance so she needed the last 4 digits of his social. My husband works at a secure location so does not get to keep his phone on hand. I texted and hoped he'd see it. Meanwhile, we tried on glasses and she asked for a copy of his prescription. I emailed it to her and she said she needed a full copy. What I sent was a screenshot from the Kaiser app, so it doesn't show up well on the phone screen. At that point, I was just frustrated and ready to leave. I told her I wasn't prepared enough to get frames today... which is totally true. Absolutely. But had she let me know over the phone that I should come in with a printed prescription, and the VSP social, I 100% would have been prepared. I heard one of the eye doctors with a patient and she sounded really caring and professional. There is just a cold, unhelpful wall to get to her. And once I get everything prepared, my son and I will for sure be going to another office for his new glasses.

That money I had set aside for Christmas presents. I didn't know about that before the appointment. I turned my face away, said, "This is 'f-ing crazy. " I also said Merry Christmas to myself. I was not irritated at the staff; I was irritated with the situation and disappointed. I also asked if they would check again to see if my insurance didn't cover it. Barnett came running down the hall accusing me of cussing out his staff. I was blindsided. Didn't see it coming. My words were not directed toward the staff. Barnett told his staff to cancel my surgery. I might add, I haven't been able to see well for 2 years. I was diagnosed back in April. I was also disappointed the surgery wouldn't be for 6 months. Depressed. It was a momentary reaction on my part, and I had no ill-will toward the staff. I tried to explain, but I couldn't. He yelled, calling me a liar! All this was in front of other patients in the waiting room. I begged Barnett to not to cancel my surgery! After calling me a liar, he promptly told his staff to take me off the books...no surgery. He threw me out of the office. I left in tears. A woman in the waiting room came to my car and told me she saw and heard the whole thing. She said," I watched you, heard you, and you didn't do anything wrong." She comforted me and was shocked at Barnett's behavior toward me. I still cry and get stomach aches over the event. I tried to apologize, but I wasn't allowed. Instead, I was called a liar and refused surgery and help. There should be a list of rules on his lobby wall: 1. No having a bad day 2. No irritation, depression, or questioning about insurance allowed. 3. No foul language allowed, not even to yourself. 4. No comments allowed 5. Must stay quiet and obey 6. No speaking 7. Sit down, wait, be treated without a word 8. Check out quietly with nothing said about money owed. 9. No questions...just pay 10. Smile, be cheerful, leaving any trials you're having outside the door. Do not bring them into this office. 11. No depression, irritation, frustration, profanity allowed! If you see Barnett, he'll be nice and apparently he will do a good job. He wasn't to me. If you ask him about this, he'll continue to call me a liar. Make sure nobody close to you died the day before you see Barnett...a husband, a child, a good friend...which might affect your state of mind and heart and being in a sad, depressed or frustrated way. Excellent Cataract Surgery Experience…read more Five years ago, my eye doctor told me that I was in the early stages of developing cataracts. This year, I noticed that my vision was no longer clear, even with my glasses, and increasing my prescription was no longer helping. After speaking with my primary care physician, I was referred to Dr. Rashidi. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was able to get an appointment compared with other specialty referrals I have experienced in the past. During my consultation, Dr. Rashidi thoroughly explained my cataracts, the surgical procedure, and the different lens options available to me. I could have chosen the standard lens replacement, which would have improved my vision by removing the cataracts but would not have eliminated my need for glasses. Instead, Dr. Rashidi explained two enhanced lens options that had the potential to reduce--and potentially eliminate significantly--my dependence on glasses, particularly for distance vision. These options came with a high additional cost, so I spent quite a bit of time thinking about what made the most sense for me and my lifestyle. What I appreciated most about Dr. Rashidi was that I never felt pressured to make a decision. He clearly explained my choices, answered my questions, and gave me the time I needed to decide. I also want to give special recognition to Kate, Dr. Rashidi's surgery scheduler. I probably wasn't the easiest patient to work with because I went back and forth several times trying to decide which lens option was right for me. I had numerous questions and made several phone calls, but Kate was always patient, knowledgeable, and happy to help. She took the time to explain the different options and never made me feel like I was being a nuisance. She was also able to schedule my surgeries within just a few weeks of my initial consultation. Both surgeries went extremely well, with no complications. I am currently healing and looking forward to the final results as my vision continues to improve and is fine-tuned. While the enhanced lenses were a significant investment, I believe the long-term savings from no longer needing prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses will help offset the additional cost over the next few years.
