Kristina greeted him kindly and was professional and welcoming throughout the entire pre- testing work up process. Dr. Patel performed a thorough eye exam, including dilation and retina evaluation, he communicated all the vision exam findings to my dad in a clear and concise manner, while also updating his glasses prescription. When you walk up to the door, the first thing you hear is this announcement: "You are being recorded." Now, really... Isn't that all you need to know about doing business here? From what I understand from office staff, you're being recorded from the time you walk in, in the lobby, and in the exam room. She also told me that's not something they usually disclose. I'm not sure why they would feel the need to record their patients - when the office is open and people are there. It certainly can't be because of past burglaries *because the office is open*. Everyone is so kind, informative, patient, and professional. Literally from the front desk staff, to their residents, and doctors. I have been seen by Dr. Hwang for my regular eye exams and was recently seen by Dr. Mao for my first ever contacts appointment. She was very kind, supportive, and patient with me during my appointment. I was able to get my contacts in (YAY!) and was provided with lots of information regarding my contacts, some tips & advice, and was told if I needed guidance to call the office at any time during their office hours. I am a new patient at Schermer Eye Associates because my previous optometrist stopped taking my insurance and recommended Schermer Eye Associates. Calling them and explaining my situation was easy. I was able to schedule an appointment not only for me but also my husband. Arriving and parking was simple. There's plenty of parking spots in the lot. I felt safe walking into the building. There was security cameras and vocal prompts. The ladies working the front desk were welcoming and nice. I was able to fill out paperwork easily. All of the fellow Kristina's (Christina's) there were very kind and helpful. I was impressed with how much equipment they had to test and examine eyes. My eyes are specifically sensitive to light so everyone who worked with me including my optometrist, Jennifer Mao helped and was kind during all of my breaks and tears. My husband went to his appointment later that week and overall we are thoroughly impressed and are happy new patients. I've been going to this business for many years. I have had good service from the doctors and all back office. The front office staff has changed, and I agree with those who complain of rudeness. I don't know who is in charge of hiring, but there is a problem. In fact, there is one woman working the front desk who is beyond impolite: she is openly hostile. The only reason this place is getting one star is because of the doctors. The front desk receptionists & office manager are incredibly rude. My dad is elderly and getting him out of the house is a challenge in itself. The only reason why he came to this appt was to get his eye pressure checked for his glaucoma medication so he doesn't go BLIND. The office manager first sent over the generic prescription the pharmacy and his insurance only covers the name brand of this particular medication (mind you this is after the second follow up I had to do to even get the medication sent over that was a week overdue.) the pharmacist had even shown me the prescription they sent over to confirm. So then I proceed to call the office back & let them know to send the name brand over because it wasn't covered. The office manager did not want to admit she made a mistake & instead blamed the pharmacy but nonetheless got the right type sent over. Flash forward to his visit - as we get in the front desk receptionist Amanda asks for his insurance cards. I let them know that he was seen here earlier in the year and I wasn't aware he needed to bring it again since i was not told when I made the appointment. I had told her I could send the card as soon as I got home since there was no one home to send me a picture of. We gave her permission to look it up on the Medi-Cal website so that they can get the information. Because of complete utter laziness - she stated that they could not. I worked as a reception for years & am well aware of the system & that you indeed can look it up. All in all - avoid this place like the plague if you want be haggled. I feel so bad for the patients that don't have an advocate & cant imagine how they're treated. read more

I liked this place. But as a new customer and patient I concur with recent complaints against the very rude staff at the front desk. If the reception desk is any indication of customer service, it stinks. My first greeting was fine, but the second to pick up my order was disappointing. No greeting, no acknowledgment except a scowl and grunt by the receptionist. I was supposed to get my order delivered to my address, but someone screwed up and I had to go pick it up. I took my son to DMV, so he can get his permit. When they performed the eye test, my son passed...barely. My son told me he needed glasses, so I started to look for a good optometrist. This place "caught my eye" because of their favorable reviews. But what really stuck out to me was: the professionalism, attention to detail, welcoming staff and attractive pricing. Their staff is dialed in. They knew what tests to perform on my child, and I was blown away with the results. They were able to quickly find the right prescription for my teenager, and the attractive/correct glasses tailored just for him. And yes, the whole process was very budget friendly. I have been here a few times and appreciate Dr. Schermer. The front desk receptionist is very unfriendly. There was one file on the counter when I was waiting to check out and she asked me my name again after checking in 20-25 minutes earlier. Maybe she was having a hard morning. Patients seem to wait while staff is on the phone or away from their desk. I think I should have been told in advance that a student was giving me an eye test. I think some customer service training would be helpful. read more

I would like to thank this business for their thorough examination of my eyes. Because of that I was diagnosed with a condition that required further medical testing and intervention. I did not want my eyes dilated, I just wanted new glasses, but the dr was pretty persuasive, so I complied. It was because of that dilation that an issue with my arteries was discovered. EXCELLENT CARE! I have been seeing Dr Rogers for the past 15yrs and continue with visits for Eye Health and Maintaining good eyesight. Nice welcoming office with a large sitting area on one side and Optical on other. The staff are very friendly and will help you with your check in process from start to end and alsoif you have any questions. They have the latest technology while preforming your eye exam and Dr Rogers explained the health of my eyes while looking at the eye scan. Dr Rogers is very professional and knowledgeable even when asking questions about your eyesight. I do 100% recommend Schermer Eye Associates. I have been coming here since I was 10 and have never had an issue. They are always very welcoming and accommodating. Dr. Hunt (formerly Bechtold) was my dr and she always helped me with samples of contacts and always went over everything thoroughly because I have horrible vision and can cause serious problems down the road. She retired within the year and we now have Dr. Patel and we really liked him. My daughter had a regular eye exam scheduled and he squeezed her in to a contact consult last minute. He also throughly went over my vision concerns which was assuring. I will say their prices are a little higher than other places for contacts. I have good insurance but even with that, it's still more pricey than if I bought from Costco. Frames on the other hand are fairly reasonable. read more

Dr. Schermer is very thorough and takes his time to explain to you what you have and what options are available to you for treatment. He does not rush and takes time to carefully look at all the tests. He is gentle and very friendly. The establishment is very nice. Well laid out and very comfortable if you have to wait before being seen. I was fortunate to have been scheduled early so I had no wait time. His assistants are so nice as well. I guess Dr. Schermer has rubbed off on all of them. All in smiles and very receptive to a laugh or two. If you need your eyes checked, I highly recommend Dr. Schermer and his associates. I needed a new optometrist due to insurance changes and am very glad I came here. Dr. Patel is very patient and friendly, as is the office staff. They were very thorough during my new evaluation. Dr. Patel answered my questions and gave me information for over the counter eye drops that I could use for allergies. The office is carefully observing social distancing and I felt very safe. They have you call their office when you arrive in the parking lot for you appointment, have spaced out seating in the waiting area, and sanitized the equipment each time before using it. read more

I was a patient of this office and scheduled a regular checkup exam. I got a confirmation of my exam'an date and time with Dr.Schermer. As soon as I provided my new insurance information (my insurance changed from PPO to HMO and my insurance is accepted by this office), the personnel on the phone became very unfriendly - and when I showed up for my confirmed appointment, I was informed that they "do not see me on the schedule". My primary doctor's office faxed referral, but front desk personnel "couldn't find it" - and I had been told that they "do not have any available appointments any time soon". I totally understand that HMO insurance is not as desirable as PPO - but it is not a good way to treat patients! Very disrespectful and disappointing! read more

First off, I've been going here for years and Dr. Patel is absolutely awesome! Unfortunately, today I had my first poor experience with the front desk staff/optical. I ordered glasses on 12/12 and was told my glasses would be available in 5-10 days, but they weren't ready until 12/30 (much later than they said). They were closed for the holiday/limited hours, so I went today (1/3) to pick them up. Before leaving I confirmed online that they were open until 5:30. I got off work early, loaded up the kids, battled Friday traffic in the rain, and arrived just before 5. When I arrived, the door was already locked and when the front desk staff came to the door, she said they closed at 5. Keep in mind it was 4:59 according to my phone and that the door I was standing in front of said they were open until 5:30. I told her I was just there to get my glasses that I already paid for and she said the woman who works in optical left at 4:30... I left empty handed and extremely frustrated by the poor communication from this business. I'll likely return because Patel is great, but will be cautious with my expectations when working with front desk staff and optical. read more

I had recently switched my optometrist after hearing about this spot from some family friends and I'm so glad I made the change over to Schremer Eye Associates. Everyone is so nice here and the optometrist does a superb job at breaking down all the information on what's going on with my eyes. The assistants and the intern took their time to learn more about me and my eye history from past optometrists, making sure they had all the information necessary. While checking my eyes, the optometrist showed me and made things clear on how my eyes were doing, which really helped because I left learning more about my own eyes. I have NEVER experienced an eye exam like the one I had here. The entire staff is so friendly and sweet! I believe I had Connie, Rebecca, Courtney, Nina, and Dr. Patel throughout my visit and everyone was so helpful and nice. I'm completely forgetting the name of the technician who took the notes for Dr. Patel and the payment at the end but she was so sweet and nice too! I am so thankful they were able to squeeze me into their schedule. Having worked at an optometric office before, Schermer Eye Associates is the best office I've had the pleasure of being a patient at. The complimentary optomap for new patients was such a surprise! At every office I've been to, new patient or not, I've paid anywhere from $50-$80 for that service. Checking in, Connie(I believe) and Rebecca took care of me with my new patient paperwork. After completing that, Rebecca and Courtney took me in for the pre diagnostic testing and they were super easy going and easy to talk to. They are both personable and sweet. Nina was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable through my entire visit. I loved how she asked if I wanted an explanation as to what we were doing and why.
