I saw this man for the first time on October 30, 2025. His bed side manner was anything but nice. He was abrupt & in a hurray. He did not even have an optical cloth to wipe off my glasses & when I reached for my purse to get mine, he abruptly said he had other patients to see & walked out. I had to wait at least 15 minutes for him to return & he acted as if my time was not just as valuable. I would never recommend him. read more

Specialist, Eye Doctor. A very nice man, unlike some reviews. He was prompt, greeted me friendly. He seemed thorough and knowkedgeable. I liked him! His 3 ckerks out front were not so great. Very chatty with some customers or among themselves. Dont try and stand near the counter as they will quickly point to the sign that reads "Stand Here" about 10 ft from the counter. Rude, if you want my thought. I did not feel any friendly from any of the three clerks but its unlikely i will ever see them again since this office is a specialist. I was having issues with double vision. I saw Dr. Grand in 2024 and he wrote a prescription for prism lenses. I ended up spending $895 on glasses & sunglasses with the new prism prescription and continued having issues. When I was able to finally see another doctor, they said that Dr. Grand had written the prism prescription wrong. Now if I want to have the correct prism rx put in, I will need all new lenses. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but this is extremely frustrating and insurance will not reimburse me for any of it. read more

My experience with Dr.Grand has consisted of two visits, which started with an exam when I was experiencing "floaters". Dr Grand was able to easily diagnose the issue and made sure to explain things thoroughly, and I got the very unique feeling this is a physician who cares, who listens and genuinely likes people. He's highly skilled, knowledgeable and a problem-solver. His staff are professional , courteous and patient. Dr. Grand is a very talented surgeon. He is not only an Ophthalmologist but he is fellowship trained in Neuro-Opthalmogy as well as Occuloplastics. He is a versatile provider who does so much more than just eye exams. I have been a patient of Dr. Grand's for several years. He has done numerous eye exams for me as my vision has changed significantly over the time I have been his patient. I had to have a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Grand where his fellowship in Occuloplastics made a huge difference in my care. Not recommended!!! He had been treating me for my eye condition for about a year and one day because i voiced my concern about my last treatment, he threw a fit and took it out on me by YELLING at me and was over aggressive on his handling of me, as a result I had more physical damage done to my eyes post treatment than I usually do. He later called to apologize for his behavior which should tell you that even he realized he was a *^#%!! But I felt that his apology was half baked to save his skin so that I wouldn't be encouraged to file a complaint against him to the medical board or to his medical affiliation. Don't trust any reviewer who has 1 or limited amount of reviews and Dr Grand is the only one they reviewed? That's called suspiciously fake reviews. read more

I have avoided returning to Dr Grand after seeing him for my last eye exam. Nothing about the visit sat well with me. The office is old and kind of gross, an "assistant" did most of the actual exam (something i have never experienced with another eye doctor), and Dr Grand was not at all helpful in addressing the issue I came for - I was told to see an ophthalmologist during a pre-employment physical. He was rudely dismissive - as if he did not hear me say (or care) that I was instructed to see an eye Dr as a condition of employment. He essentially told me, "that's just stupid". Longstory short I have put off returning for any follow ups because of his disrespectful manner, lack of concern and generally uncomfortable office vibe. I'm writing this review now, much later, because I desperately need an exam and new prescription and am looking for a new doctor. I had a previous surgery, from a different surgeon, and a few weeks later my sutures completely came apart on my eyelid. I was unable to see my original surgeon in a timely manner so I reached out to Dr. Grands office to see if he might be able to help. He didn't hesitate, he made room in his schedule and had me come to his office the following day where he took immediate care of my torn eyelid by re-suturing it to the proper position. He took extreme care and sutured everything perfectly. To be sure everything was healing well he had me come back two weeks later. Upon review everything was healing well and he removed the sutures. Dr Grand requires an MRI brain scan before seeing patients with double vision (diplopia). I thought he might offer some insight into my particular diplopia so I got the MRI and scheduled an appointment My experience was more than disappointing. He said he required a brain MRI to rule out a brain tumor. I thought that was rather odd since most diplopia issues have nothing to do with bran tumors. I brought him the cd of my MRI but he was not interested in looking at it. Instead he asked to see the written report. I already knew it indicated there was no serious issues. It was disappointing that he was not interested in looking at the MRI to make sure that the report was accurate. I had recently gotten glasses with prisms from another doctor. They were effective but I was having trouble with my distance vision. I was expecting that he would give me a complete eye exam but instead he asked to see the prescription from the other doctor. I informed him I was also doing vision therapy exercises. He did not think much of that idea but instead suggested I see an eye surgeon and gave me a referral. I am not sure if it was the vision therapy or the time it took for my eyes to adjust to the glasses but I can now see clearly with no vision issues. In conclusion my experience with Dr Grand was a waste of time. If you have a double vision issue I suggest you see some other doctor. read more

Dr. Grand is the kindest eye specialist I have been to. He treats my whole family! Some of his specialities are from what I hear are "the only" or only a few in his field in Sacramento. I highly recommend Dr. Grand, and continue to see him to this day. He was my surgeon for an urgent, cancer related eye-removal surgery I had to have done, and his team worked with me and my oncologists actively to make sure the surgery was necessary, performed correctly based on my specific needs, and expedited the procedure at my request, which was very important to me. His office even helped me identify the best provider to create my prosthetic eye after the surgery. Wait was really long, doctor spent less then 5 mins with me and it was my first visit. I think a little more exam time for a first time patient is needed. Didn't ask about eye history at all which is weird. Also wanted contacts but someone else is calling me for that appointment. Prior experience is the doctor will fit you with contacts then and there and usually give you a trial pair. I have been in glasses/contacts since birth so this isn't my first exam. read more
