I still have not heard from her and had to report the charge to my credit card company as I do not believe she is going to follow up at this point. I've been working with Christina for several years now, and I'm still amazed by how powerful it is every time. She keeps it simple and she keeps it real. More than any healer I've worked with, Christina cuts through all the static, looks you right in the eyes and gets to the core of the issue. I speak from the heart when I say Christina is one of the best healers around.  Some people are naturally called to do this work and she is one of them. I contacted Christina a few months ago to cleanse an apartment I had just moved into. Nothing was particularly wrong about it, but the energy was stale and gray. I heard about sageing and smudging, but wanted a pro to come teach me the ins and outs. Christina came to my apartment and not only cleansed the space, but also worked with me to set intentions for how I wanted it. I originally met Christina in 2012 or 2013, and I wrote her a review back then. She was the person who introduced me to Reiki, and she also attuned me so that I could become a practitioner myself. I was deeply impressed with her knowledge, skills, and totally accessible approach. She has a gift for making a very metaphysical subject feel like something that anybody can get into. She also has more sheer positive effect with her Reiki than anyone else I've met or studied with in the years since we were introduced. I once saw her perform psychic surgery on someone who came in with a protruding lump in her abdomen... Christina took her into a private room for no more than 10 minutes, and when they came back out, that lump was just gone, and the woman was grinning with relief like a jack-o'-lantern! I studied with Christina and attended her events for a few more years after that, and she never failed to produce big results. For example, she once performed a soul retrieval session for me that gave me access to a childhood event I'd long since forgotten about, and I was able to clear away a lot of related fear-based "programming" after that session. I moved out of the area in 2015, and Christina was friendly and accessible whenever I would reach out while I was away - she cares very much about the well-being of her friends and "Reiki-babies!" I recently returned to LA, though, in May of this year (2018), and I've been thrilled to reconnect with her. I have had a couple sessions of Reiki at this healing studio in Downtown Los Angeles with Christina Galvez. I had been curious about the Healing modality and energy called Reiki for some time now, Christina was highly recommended by a friend. If you don't know what "Reiki" is ... I came to see Christina when my mom suggested going to a reiki session after a difficult period I was going through last year. Christina first called me and asked me about my life and what I was going through so she could get to know me a little before I came in. I had never done reiki so I was really curious as to what it would be like, but after the session I felt as if a huge weight was lifted- almost like a body high. I saw her one time after because I wanted help keeping that feeling long after my sessions were over and she actually gave me lessons on doing mini reiki sessions on myself to see how I felt throughout the month. I'm writing this review because i'm an avid Yelp user and I love getting good recommendations from this site so..... this is my contribution and recommendation to something a lot more life changing than the best tacos in LA (although i do love tacos)... I started going to Christina about 6 months ago.... And in the first two months, (actually, in the first 3 sessions)... I achieves some crazy permanent healing. Although her reiki sessions have helped a lot as far as healing--- i'd have to say that my favorite healing method from her are her shamanic journeys, where I really feel i have let go of some heavy feelings/ blockages that were holding me back from succeeding in various areas in my life. Her shamanic journeys are different than regular reiki sessions in the sense that they (for me at least) were more visual--- so instead of just getting up and feeling all around better from a session, I knew exactly what kind of blockages I let go of, and what areas in my life I healed.... I also felt like I came out of there with some tools I can use outside of her office. I give Christina this full 5 star recommendation because not only is healing work empowering, but her sessions work--- It's also better than spending thousands of dollars annually on psychologists or medicine... I had actually never heard of "reiki" when my friend had first told me about Christina. He described his session with her as a very cool spiritual experience, -like nothing he had ever had before, -for healing. I'm not sure where to begin. I called Christina with no hope of ever be able to pass this wall that I felt stuck behind for YEARS. I've seen many therapists in LA to try and help me combat the anxiety and each one wanted to put me on SSRIs with just the first visit. In fact, even my last therapist said no amount of affirmations could help me when she claimed to be a holistic therapist. Imagine my frustration. I have had an interest in Reiki in the past but knew little about it. At this point I just wanted someone that could understand me and also give me a true holistic approach in healing my life. I came to Christina at a time when things were out of alignment in my life I came looking for answers and rather than beating around the bush she gave me real tools to understand why things are happening the way that they are. My visit was underwhelming. And not only because the "healing" session was essentially a basic guided meditation with incense but because Christina's personality leaves a lot to be desired. She's cold, crass and doesn't really do a good job of convincing you this is a sacred and special service she's providing. The whole visit felt impersonal and automatic. To further solidify this, she criminally overcharges for a reiki session. The reiki community 's general rule of thumb is to charge about the same for a standard Reiki session as others in your area are charging for a massage. The average massage is no where near $150 in Koreatown, come on. I humored her through the session to be polite but it was really a waste of money. The only way I can explain these glowing reviews is cognitive dissonance. People will lie to themselves to justify spending so much money on something so pointless. I really made a mistake coming in. I originally called only for a consultation and information because I'm low on money right now, but she had so many impeccable reviews that I went ahead and jumped into a day-of appointment. Over the phone, she said that young people can spend money on frivolous things but rarely spend money on their health, so I felt it would be wrong of me to back out when I wasn't doing well. Many reviewers here talk about how shocked they were that Christina was truly able to see through them and pinpoint specific blocks. I didn't have that experience. She didn't have any unique insight about my experiences with manic-depression or particular perception of my energy while sitting in the room speaking with me; not that she shared with me, at least. During my session, I had snot from crying that was blocking my nostrils, so I could only breathe from my throat. Throughout the session, Christina asked me questions about the sensations in my body and I replied that my throat was cold, that I had nausea, and that pain was traveling to other parts of my body--for example, I felt a prickly, stinging sensation in my hands below my pinkies. She grew increasingly stern and told me that bodies feel pain, and to just deal. This was my first Reiki session ever, and I thought she wanted to know this information so she could follow the energy, or work on those new areas. I don't know. I didn't understand why I was sitting rather than resting on the table; and I didn't understand what answers she wanted from her questions about my body. You really have to understand that Christina has, as other reviewers have described, a "no-nonsense" approach and a bluntness about her. I didn't find that the session felt sacred or personal. At one point, the nausea rose out of my throat and I did a weird burp-gag. She told me this wasn't Hollywood, and she told me not to bring emotion into it. I really was trying to just focus on the breathing but I continued to be emotive I think and I took breaks from breathing because I was trying to give my body a break from the coldness and the nausea. Again and again, I didn't know how to answer her questions about my body. Eventually I raised my voice and said I didn't know what she wanted from me. She halted the session then and there. She said she didn't know why I would speak to her that way, she didn't know what was wrong with me, and that her job was very hard. I know healers and empaths need to protect themselves, so I certainly wasn't going to give her a hard time about it. I said I was sorry, and just sat being very shocked and confused. I really seem to have failed the session. She wrote down a recipe for a salt bath, and said that I had a lot more processing to do. So many reviewers here talk about the incredibly difficult states they're in and how Christina was uniquely perceptive, gifted, and compassionate. I can't imagine that I'm the first person to experience difficulties during a session? I was willing and working through the breathing; I just did not know what she wanted to know about the traveling sensations of pain. & to be clear, I don't think she's a phony or scammer like another post here said she was. Healers really can't work with you if you can't do the work with them. I really needed more information about what the session would be like, what to expect, what is asked of me, etc. If emotion isn't good for a healing session, then I really should have saved my money for another time. read more

I am a true believer that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I became very interested in holistic healing when my mother passed away and soon decided that I wanted to learn reiki. I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't leave some sort of review and share with everyone my experience, former expectations of energy work/shamanic healing and just how life transforming this angel's guidance has helped me heal from ongoing trauma and turned into a life long journey, opening infinite possibilities. Christina is a gem. I found her through divine intervention lol A referral from another incredible individual. I had no idea at the time what this would mean for me. Im close to turning 32 and to give you an idea of what Ive sought out in help: ECT at cedars Sinai, countless medications, countless hospitalizations, psych meds, rehabs, MFTs...clinical psychologists. NONE of these things came even close to even healing the surface of a history of neglect, trauma, trauma bonds, abuse i was addicted to a cycle of external validation and attention which I believed lead to my fucked off relationship with myself. Im not your average depression/anxiety person. I was EXTREME. To the point I had nearly taken my own life 5+ times, overdosed, cried, lived in self pity, had a poor connection with spirit. Reached out to her once before and it was not a good experience. After I told her a little about why I was contacting her, she responded with something along the lines of "You're only so and so years old, you can't possibly be having problems that are serious". Yet, it wasn't until this current year when things started to get out of control. First, my personal life started to crumble into pieces. I went through a really bad break-up. It was not the first time that a relationship did not work for me. However, this particular situation created a huge impact in my life. Eventually, my professional life got affected. I was not able to perform, or produce good quality work that i wanted. I would be sitting in front of my computer just looking at the monitor for hours (I WAS A HUMAN STATUE!). I did have a million thoughts running though my head, but none of them were helping me. My job was at jeopardy. At home, I was doing the same exact thing. In this case, I would be in my bed looking at the ceiling. I had no motivation to go out. At this point, I had no idea what was going on with my life. I knew that I WAS STUCK, more like MAJORLY STUCK. I tried several alternatives to unstuck myself, such as: counseling, meditation, reading and listening to self-help books and audiobooks, talking to people, changing eating habits, forcing myself to exercise, creating routines, traveling, and I was thinking about consulting a psychiatrist for medication. At one point, I event thought about changing my religion. I was DESPERATE!!! I started to believe that I was done. The answer to my problems came from my mother words. One night, she was talking to me about her life with her grandmother. Until this day, I can't remember how the conversation started. My mother was raised by her maternal grandmother, who was a healer. My mother's words about her grandmother were full of love and made me feel so calm (took it as a sign). It was like her grandmother was present and probably she was there with us. My mother talked about my great-grandmother's vast knowledge on plants, trees, flowers, animals, remedies, prayers, and how she saved many lives. My great-grand mother was a well-respected healer in her community. Then, I knew what to do. I needed to go back to the roots of my family, my ancestors, and seek the assistance of a healer. Finding Ms. Christina Galvez was part of the healing process. As I was looking for ways to find the right person (healer), I came across with her name and contact information. As I was learning about her, I felt right away that she was the person to call for help. I didn't hesitated and contacted Ms. Galvez right away. As we had our first conversation, via phone call, her voice made me feel calm. I shared with her my situation, and asked some questions. I was able to tell that she had a vast knowledge in her field, and vast wisdom as a healer. The first time that I met her in person I felt the same way like in our phone call (calm and with hope). I have no words to describe Ms. Galvez, other than she has a superb soul, energy, and wisdom. The first session was something that I will never forget. During the session my mind was in silence. I had no thoughts running around through my mind. It was a nice and peaceful moment of silence. Yet, I had the ability to stay focus in the healing session with Ms. Galvez. Little by little, I started to feel in control of my body and mind again. I felt a wave of energy and inspiration running through my body again.  I felt much better than before. At the end of the session, I had a big smile and had a feeling of happiness surrounding my body, mind, and spirit. As of today, I'm doing great in my personal and professional life. I have control over my mind and body. I am highly involve in projects related to my field of work and education. I wake up every morning, at 5am, meditate, prepare my favorite breakfast, and i have the ability to decide how my day is going to be. I'm able to cope with any obstacle in a healthier and happier way. I'm more physically active and take better care of my body. More importantly, through Ms. Galvez I learned that I need to take time to care for myself (mind, body, and spirit). Therefore, I still visit Ms. Galvez for healing sessions. I can't convey in words how valuable the sessions with Christina have been. I've used traditional therapy methods for years and in a few short months I feel (and see reflected back in my professional and personal life) like I have made more progress in our time together than all my years in traditional talk therapy. I first met Cristina through my sister 3years ago when my Dad passed away, we went in for a group session as we were all grieving. She definitely helped me out with other issues I was having at the time. I revisited her last week because I felt stuck and I wanted to work on myself and continue to grow in different areas of my life. Once again she helped me feel great about myself!! I was sure she was fantastic, judging by the reviews. And she just might have been. I made an appointment and even spoke to her and texted the day prior. She informed me that it was at a different address. Plugged this into my gps and although spending 45 minutes in traffic to get there, arrived within 5 minutes of my appointment time, only to find zero parking. As I tried to hunt for a parking spot, I texted her to let her know I was there, just couldn't find a spot. Finally a truck pulled out and I got a space and raced up to the address I was given. Knocked on the door and could've sworn i heard someone moving inside. But no answer. Knocked again. Nothing. Tried her cell phone and it went straight to voice mail. Sent texts, which were shown as delivered. No response. I became nervous since this was not a great part of town--what if this was a planned robbery or rape? It was a different address than listed. So I quickly went back to the safety of my car in the space that had been such a struggle to find. Waited to see if I would get a response. Nothing. I was hoping she was alright, not in a horrible accident or worse. Ah, but when people update their social media you realize they're fine. I can only assume she changed her mind, disliked my vibes, couldn't wait an extra 10 minutes, or what have you. But in any of these situations she could have called, or text. A simple "sorry, I have another appointment booked right after, so being 10 minutes late I am going to have to reschedule," would have been professional and acceptable. And if she just felt hers or my energy off, like the 6th sense-ish types can get? An apologetic text making a simple excuse of illness, family trouble, dog sick would have sufficed. That took two hours out of my day with lots of stress for absolutely nothing. And time is the most precious thing any of us have. Days later, still nothing. Glad to know she is alright and hope she doesn't treat anyone else like this in the future, especially people who are in need of healing. Update: in response to her comment: Yes, I frequent many types of complimentary healing services. Some are awesome, others are not. Perhaps you shouldn't put that down because these are the people who frequent your business. You have all the right in the world to refuse service to anyone, but it would have been great if you had informed me...at any point. It is professional and common courtesy. I mean, did you really want my "unsafe energy" knocking at your door? A simple call or text would have been great for both you and me. Hopefully you will consider that the next time you change your mind about an appoint you've booked. I'm glad you're okay, take care. read more
