As of this morning, $15 for a dozen assorted donuts. I've been coming to Christine's Donuts for the last two years to purchase a box of dozen donuts consistently on Monday mornings. The quality of donuts are a hit or miss, sometimes they're fresh, sometimes I can tell they're not. The price, yes, they're overpriced compared to what I get. However, can't complain the location is conveniently located from my freeway exit, so I don't mind paying the extra few bucks. I'm rating this place two-stars because of the mean lady owner who works here. She was rude to me several times and acted annoyed when I always say I don't want coconut donuts. On this day I ordered a combo which consists of turkey, ham, and roast beef. I'm afraid I lack the foodie eloquence to convey just how tasty their sandwiches really are - THEY ARE FRIGGIN' AMAZING! Built on what seem to be fresh baked French rolls, the sandwiches here are filled with fresh ingredients: crisp lettuce and onions, delicious deli-quality meats, pleasantly spiced up with slices of pickled jalapenos and yellow chili peppers. I can't quite identify the sauce they use - is it a ranch sauce? Whatever it is, it elevates all the ingredients to another level of yum. To put it simply these sandwiches are just made the right way without resorting to anything too fancy or gimmicky. The mouth feel and flavor is absolutely delightful and ultimately satisfying. But be aware - they are so yummy you might develop a bothersome craving for them at odd times of the day and night! Of course, they also have donuts and some really huge croissants (or is it bagels? I forget 'cuz I haven't actually tried anything else but their mind-blowing sandwiches). I'm sure the donuts are great too and someday I will give them a try. Well I was all jazzed when I decided I was going to have some ice cream some rainbow sugar that is at a local donut shop that I appreciate it the serving the price is okay for the serving three bucks and a 24 oz cup didn't mind that had purchased this a couple times and today I thought I was a little person same price half the serving and I asked them wait a minute what happened to the other size $3 he replied... I really like the subs they have here and breakfast sandwiches. Don't go during "after-school" hours. It is right next to a high school, so it's kind of annoying. Terrible customer service. One of the last times I came in I had ordered a smoothie for my boyfriend. When I gave it to him he said it tasted funny, like it wasn't made with real bananas, so we decided to take it back. The lady gave us so much attitude about how we felt about the taste of the shake. She claimed that there wasn't anything wrong with the shake and that there was something wrong with our taste buds. I have been coming here for years and as a self proclaimed donut connoisseur, I would always recommend this place. However, last week I went in to get close to a dozen donuts ( ended up with 9 ) ........ I've known the owners for years( very nice people) and this young girl ( say early 20's helped me ( may have been the daughter, I've also seen the son work there). She could not get my order right (4 times to get it right and still left out one donut that I wanted).... Then she tried jamming 9 donuts in a little bag, when I realized she had jammed the nine donuts tightly in this bag , I asked her nicely to put them in a box . I was very nice to her, however, she was frustrated and snapped back at me. I let it go and paid 9.90 for my donuts. I just love this place and went my merry way looking forward to the treats inside. As I'm going down the road at about 7:30 am into LA traffic ( I went early hoping to get the freshly made donuts that morning). I took out my favorite ( orange glazed) ...... to my dismay it was hard as a rock( very stale). I threw it in my trash bag, grabbed another and the same. Got to my destination and every donut with the exception of one was stale and old. This practice of taking day old donuts to the back of the fresh donut tray and stuffing them into customer boxes / bags has always bothered me. I have never in the years I've been going there had a bad donut and get 8 out of nine stale donuts has soured me towards this place. Now the attitude of the young girl who helped me , who tried stuffing 9 donuts into a small bag ( I was wondering why they did not smoosh down, they were hard as a rock) weighed heavily as I bit into dry stale hard donuts. I may go down and talk to the father ( who was not there that morning) and let him know about it (he is one the nicest person I have met) and advise him of this horrid business practice used by many businesses.
