So I saw a review that mentioned the TOO GOOD TO GO App. For another location. I Never heard of this app. So I checked it out. There's several places that offer yesterday's baked goods at a discount on there so they don't t go to waste. I downloaded the app and checked out what's in the area. Then I checked reviews on Yelp. This home style donuts seemed to have good reviews so I ordered a SURPRISE BAG via the TOO GOOD TO GO app. Got there. Mamá said swipe right ;) so I did. She pulled a donut box and on she went to the back to fill it. She came out and handed me a box filled to the brim. I was worried about getting stale donuts or something. Not at all. I got a box filled with delicious and assorted donuts. From plain to fancy. I got my favorite and Apple fritter and a chocolate buttermilk! What are the odds. Plus all sorts of good. Chocolate, glazed, cinnamon rolls, chocolate and maple bars. OMG!!! Way too much for us. Split it in half and my son took half to his friend's family a couple houses over. Honestly, if I didn't know they were day old donuts, I would not be able to tell any difference. Great finds. Great value. Best $5 bucks I ever spent in my life!!!! Ha ha! Prob not. But great deal. Yikes. I'm disgusted. I stopped in to grab a few donuts on my way home and found the display case completely covered in flies. There were even dead flies stuck in the icing. Had to review this place, they've been around since I was a kid and ever since I can remember they've always taken care of business when it comes to my donut needs. Normally I go to Randy's donuts on Rosecrans but I downloaded the 'Too Good To Go' app and have been able to get a dozen donuts for 4 dollars and some change. It's supposed to be day old food but the donuts taste pretty dang fresh to me! You don't get to pick the donuts which is fine, given the deal you're getting but the people working there are very nice and knowledgeable. I don't see this place going anywhere anytime soon, when I came in it was a packed out at 10AM on a Tuesday morning. This donut shop had the freshest donuts I've had in ages and they tasted really good. There was an interesting selection all of my favorites and some interesting new ones. I was there around 6:15pm last Thursday, 8/8, to get my payout for the MEGA MILLIONS. I had one number + the Mega. I gave my ticket to a lady, who seems to be in her 60's. She told me how much I was getting, but I couldn't hear it, so she repeated it and also gestured with her fingers $3. For some reason, I had a feeling she was lying. I said that's it? My husband and I were here on 11/19/2018 around 7:45am. An older short Asian woman helped us. I told my husband "you go first" so he goes "can I have this muffin right here" (as he is pointing to the muffin.) She goes "oh apple cinnamon" he says "yes please apple cinnamon" she grabs it with her bare hand, she didn't grab the tongs, she didn't get one of those pastry wax thingy sheets where you grab the pastries with, NO! she grabbed the muffin from the top with her bare hand. My husband whispered to me " don't get anything" so I told him just to just tell the lady that you change your mind and you just want the hot chocolate. So the same lady made the hot chocolate cup sticky from the muffin. So the other lady who looked to be late 40's rang him up and he told her "you know what I change my mind I just want the hot chocolate", she just charged him the hot chocolate. We love the donuts here!! Even this late in the evening they're still fresh tasting, and the coffee never has the burnt taste of other shops have at night. The prices are great, it's still the old school type shop but they have everything a yuppie shop has but with the homie comfy feel - in the mornings when I've been in all the retired guys are relaxing swapping lies, I mean reminiscing. This is my favorite donut shop in the Norwalk area. I have been coming here for the last 30 plus years and never once is this place ever close. They are open 24-7, no matter if it is Christmas or Thanksgiving they will be open. The chocolate chip donuts are my favorite here. The ham egg and cheese croissant is also very good, with very generous portions. It's amazing how consistent their quality is, every time i come here their donut tastes just as the same as 30 years ago. Totally brings back the memories of childhood growing up here. read more
