Yes, it's time for my third update. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot thank this patient…read morestaff enough. Every single time, they bring on extreme patience, compassion, and smiles in setting fraught with anxiety: children's dentistry. My youngest son recently completed some intense dental work that he needed, which went beautifully the first visit and more difficult the second visit. The entire time I cringed internally and was so impressed with how wonderfully the staff members spoke with my child. By the third visit, my son was more wiser to what was going to happen and after attempting the original plan just did not work, the awesomely kind and wonderful dentist gave me some different options for how to proceed. I chose a middle ground and we went for it, and they powered through some difficult moments, but I felt very confident in knowing that my child was not actually being hurt. It is not easy to watch your child struggle and cry, but my trust in these people is very high. And it worked! After a few tense minutes, the work was done and my son sat up and immediately wanted to play video games. Yes, they have a side room inside the office where kids can play old school nintendo, and my kids luckily mostly identify their visits with getting to play video games, and the treat they get on the way out. The also always awesome front desk staff explained on our way out that we should consider coming in not during an appointment, especially after halloween, to let the office buy back my kids halloween candy, and experience the office when they don't have to get dental work done. Brilliant! So glad she mentioned this. THANK YOU!

First, my kids eat like shit. Not gonna lie. I mean, they eat plenty of vegetables and lots of healthy food too. But we own a 7 Eleven, soooooo you can imagine what that's like. I try to bribe good behavior out of them by offering all kinds of treats from the store. Their faves: Kinder eggs, donuts and M&Ms. Sure es we brush twice daily but I let's just say I wasn't getting any Mom of the Year awards. I was sure they would find critters living in my kids' teeth. My second concern was my one twin who is afraid of his own shadow. I knew it was going to be hell to pay to get him to sit in that dentist's chair. I already pictured it in my head: writhing in fake agony, screaming bloody murder when they attach the bib around his neck, telling "noooo, noooo" off the top of his lungs at the sound of a drill. Ughh...poor kid. That must be awful to be that scared at virtually nothing. Luckily for me and my twins, though, there wasn't one scary thing about this office. The staff are so incredibly warm, loving, gentle and understanding. They took their time, explained everything to the kiddos and even let them touch some of the tools. My kids actually seemed to be enjoying it! Dr. Ryan is the absolute most gentle person around small children. Such a mild demeanor, very pleasant tone, and always happy to engage a 4 year old in a stimulating conversation about trains and dinosaurs. My little guy felt so proud of himself after the appointment for being a brave boy but really, it was everyone in that office that made him brave. Thank you!

*****Not to be trusted*** My four old son fell and injured…read morehis two front teeth. I was new to the area and went to the dentist. They took my son to the back room and refused to let me go with him. I could hear him screaming bloody murder from the front office. I went back there and he was being restrained in a Papoose. They violently extracted his 2 front teeth with zero sedation or nitrous oxide(laughing gas). It was my fault as a young mom for letting him go back there without a parent but their barbaric, violent and painful practice of Pediatric dentistry should have consequences. A year later my son is still petrified of any dentist. No child should have to endure this kind of pain, ever! I hope posting this prevents any other child from him during this kind of unnecessary pain and trauma.

I don't really know how to start this as I am disgusted with his practice right now. I will say…read morethat as a child I was a patient of Dr. Mays and he did take very good care of me. I do remember screaming at a few of my appointments but as an adult I still have dental work in my mouth that he has performed. Now that I have three children of my own, I recently took them to be seen by him. My son who broke his 2 front teeth had them repaired by Dr. Mays and for the past year they have held up nicely. My other 2 children do not really have any other issues. Today I called to schedule them for one of their 6 month check ups and I was basically told that I need to find another dentist. I called and left a message about 2 months ago and never got a call back, well now I know why!!! Let me explain.... I would say in November last year we had an appointment for my daughter to get a filling on a cavity. On the day of the appointment I was called and told that the appointment I had waited over a month for had to be reschedule due to the Dr. being out sick. Mind you as a working parent I had to request the time off and remove my child from school early to make this appointment. So they appointment got rescheduled and I didn't make it nor did I call. When I called today is when I was notified that I would have to find another dentist, so to me this says they do not care about the child getting dental care and at this point this has become about money. I missed a day of work and my child missed a day of school but I'll be darned if the Dr. misses one appointment. Had I known I had to find a new dentist 2 months ago when I called and left the message I would have done such and this is what leaves me the conclusion that the dentist or his office staff do not care about a child getting proper care.
