Every single time, they bring on extreme patience, compassion, and smiles in setting fraught with anxiety: children's dentistry. My youngest son recently completed some intense dental work that he needed, which went beautifully the first visit and more difficult the second visit. The entire time I cringed internally and was so impressed with how wonderfully the staff members spoke with my child. By the third visit, my son was more wiser to what was going to happen and after attempting the original plan just did not work, the awesomely kind and wonderful dentist gave me some different options for how to proceed. I chose a middle ground and we went for it, and they powered through some difficult moments, but I felt very confident in knowing that my child was not actually being hurt. It is not easy to watch your child struggle and cry, but my trust in these people is very high. And it worked! After a few tense minutes, the work was done and my son sat up and immediately wanted to play video games. Yes, they have a side room inside the office where kids can play old school nintendo, and my kids luckily mostly identify their visits with getting to play video games, and the treat they get on the way out. The also always awesome front desk staff explained on our way out that we should consider coming in not during an appointment, especially after halloween, to let the office buy back my kids halloween candy, and experience the office when they don't have to get dental work done. Brilliant! So glad she mentioned this. THANK YOU!

Took my (almost) 5 year old twins to the dentist for the very first. I knew this day would come. It…read morecame sooner than I thought. I was afraid for a couple of reasons. First, my kids eat like shit. Not gonna lie. I mean, they eat plenty of vegetables and lots of healthy food too. But we own a 7 Eleven, soooooo you can imagine what that's like. I try to bribe good behavior out of them by offering all kinds of treats from the store. Their faves: Kinder eggs, donuts and M&Ms. Sure es we brush twice daily but I let's just say I wasn't getting any Mom of the Year awards. I was sure they would find critters living in my kids' teeth. My second concern was my one twin who is afraid of his own shadow. I knew it was going to be hell to pay to get him to sit in that dentist's chair. I already pictured it in my head: writhing in fake agony, screaming bloody murder when they attach the bib around his neck, telling "noooo, noooo" off the top of his lungs at the sound of a drill. Ughh...poor kid. That must be awful to be that scared at virtually nothing. Luckily for me and my twins, though, there wasn't one scary thing about this office. The staff are so incredibly warm, loving, gentle and understanding. They took their time, explained everything to the kiddos and even let them touch some of the tools. My kids actually seemed to be enjoying it! Dr. Ryan is the absolute most gentle person around small children. Such a mild demeanor, very pleasant tone, and always happy to engage a 4 year old in a stimulating conversation about trains and dinosaurs. My little guy felt so proud of himself after the appointment for being a brave boy but really, it was everyone in that office that made him brave. Thank you!

I cannot say enough positive things about Pediatric Dentistry in the Gardens. No exaggeration here:…read moreI have yet to come across a team of pediatric care professionals that go above and beyond to ensure the comfort of not only the children they treat but their parents as well. To be more specific, my 2 year old recently underwent dental procedures via IV sedation (due to his young age and nature of work being done) in office. As any parent may feel anxious about their young child receiving IV anesthesia (administered by a pediatric anesthesiologist), Dr. Ryan Owaski and his team were incredibly open to answer any questions and to address concerns I had regarding both the procedure and sedation process. If anything, I felt they encouraged and welcomed them. Their genuine desire to ensure I was educated and understood everything I wanted to (and should) know regarding my child's procedure did wonders in placing me at ease. This gave me the confidence that my child was under the best care not only for his dental work but for anesthesia as well. Furthermore, Michelle from the front was so kind and eager to help with insurance related matters (reimbursement for services that were not part of our plan's benefit coverage), providing important patient education, and making sure I was comfortable during my child's procedure. She even provided us with a post procedure follow up call. Unfortunately, like many of us, I've had my fair share of poor patient care service which is why her genuine willingness to help meant all that much more. To wrap this novel-length review up, not only is Dr. Ryan's bedside manner top-notch, he is highly skilled at his work (as evidenced by the outcome of my child's successful procedure). He was also highly responsive when I reached out to him after hours about a post procedural related question. As you can see, my children and I are quite fond of this practice. If anyone is looking for a pediatric dentist, including those with special needs, I cannot recommend Pediatric Dentistry in the Gardens enough. They are THE way to go!! Thank you to everyone there!!

After reading this, you will see why you would take great risk by placing your child in the care of…read morethis provider: This is what I emailed the dentist, Christine Michaul: "Jenna had a follow up appointment for fillings today. She is 9 years-old. Her aunt brought her in for me. I provided her insurance card and consent letter, per the request of the office staff. Jenna's aunt was asked to make a payment of $315. Her aunt inquired of such fees and as told that $100 of this fee was for "behavior management". I have never heard of such a thing. Jenna has had a filling before, and is not a behavior problem. Even without this fee, Jenna's aunt was told that there was still a $200 minimum charge for seeing Jenna today because insurance was not covering the fillings. Your dental office is 100% positively the office listed on Jenna's insurance card. Why are we being asked to pay for something that should be covered under her insurance? And so this is where I stepped and called to speak with your office manager. I was told (and I still can't believe it), that the doctor "does not feel comfortable" seeing Jenna due to the fact that I had to file and appeal for her siblings who were seen at the office and then referred out for no good reason. So, this is VERY confusing...read this carefully and digest what you are saying: Your office was very willing to collect a $315 fee to see Jenna just moments ago and YET you aren't comfortable working on Jenna? Is there some inconsistency here? Does $315 make you MORE comfortable taking Jenna as a patient? Does this $315 ease all of your apprehensions and distress about Jenna's brothers? This is laughable, but this is also so very UNETHICAL and fraudulent. Jenna is a 9-year old child who is not at all privy to her brother's dental situation. Why would you have any anxiety at all interacting with a little girl, as a pediatric dentist? This sounds more like a retaliation because of an insurance dispute THAT YOU BROUGHT UPON YOURSELF, DEAR DENTIST. I did instruct my sister to remove Jenna from the office and to NOT allow her to be put in the care of such a callous, unprofessional dentist who was going to charge a $315 fee to appease her own ego. Jenna's 3 brothers were all gladly received by your office at the beginning of the summer for x-rays, evaluations, cleanings. It was not until RIGHT AFTER the appointments on that VERY SAME day that I was told that you all would be referring them out to another dentist for their necessary fillings because you do not take older clients (2 of which are still minors). It is likely that you were very aware that after referring them out that another dentist would have to "establish" them as patients all over again for an out of pocket fee of several hundred dollars each. You office already mistreated my 3 boys by displacing them into the care of another dentist...and now you have mistreated Jenna. I will be sure that not only the insurance is informed of your practices, but all of my friends and family in the Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens area will know as well." Why did you allow us to even allow us to schedule the appointment, if you were "not comfortable". All of this reeks of something foul and calculated.

They took my son to the back room and refused to let me go with him. I could hear him screaming bloody murder from the front office. I went back there and he was being restrained in a Papoose. They violently extracted his 2 front teeth with zero sedation or nitrous oxide(laughing gas). It was my fault as a young mom for letting him go back there without a parent but their barbaric, violent and painful practice of Pediatric dentistry should have consequences. A year later my son is still petrified of any dentist. No child should have to endure this kind of pain, ever! I hope posting this prevents any other child from him during this kind of unnecessary pain and trauma.

I do remember screaming at a few of my appointments but as an adult I still have dental work in my mouth that he has performed. Now that I have three children of my own, I recently took them to be seen by him. My son who broke his 2 front teeth had them repaired by Dr. Mays and for the past year they have held up nicely. My other 2 children do not really have any other issues. Today I called to schedule them for one of their 6 month check ups and I was basically told that I need to find another dentist. I called and left a message about 2 months ago and never got a call back, well now I know why!!! Let me explain.... I would say in November last year we had an appointment for my daughter to get a filling on a cavity. On the day of the appointment I was called and told that the appointment I had waited over a month for had to be reschedule due to the Dr. being out sick. Mind you as a working parent I had to request the time off and remove my child from school early to make this appointment. So they appointment got rescheduled and I didn't make it nor did I call. When I called today is when I was notified that I would have to find another dentist, so to me this says they do not care about the child getting dental care and at this point this has become about money. I missed a day of work and my child missed a day of school but I'll be darned if the Dr. misses one appointment. Had I known I had to find a new dentist 2 months ago when I called and left the message I would have done such and this is what leaves me the conclusion that the dentist or his office staff do not care about a child getting proper care.
