To promote winter tourism, in February they host an annual 10-day bash known as the "Fire & Ice Festival". Local businesses sponsor the creation of an ice sculpture for public display, and we saw dozens of them on Main Street, Broad Street, Juniper Lane and at the entry to Lititz Springs Park. Some of the sculptures we saw were fire trucks, tow trucks, a snowman, Mr. Moneybags from Monopoly, an angel, a unicorn, the Liberty Bell, Mr. Potato Head, a bird, a dog and various other animals, a train, a bicycle, praying hands, and a palm tree. The Fire and Ice Festival also has food trucks, music, kid-centric activities, a photography exhibit and a Lititz pub crawl. We enjoyed looking at the ice sculptures, fed the ducks in the park, shopped at Wilbur Chocolate and the Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, and visited the town's Visitor Center to chat with Earl - one of the coolest ambassadors any town can possibly dream of having. Berks Sinfonietta is a unique community chamber orchestra based in Berks County, PA. The orchestra…read morecurrently presents between six and eight concerts annually, and has been doing so since 2014 (currently celebrating their 10th Season starting in August, 2023). As community support grows through increased ticket sales and through greater support from individuals and area businesses, the concert schedule will expand accordingly. I should probably mention that Berks Sinfonietta is a 501(c)(3) organization and that means donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by state and federal tax regulations. The orchestra is unique because it is made up of residents of Berks County and it focuses on diverse programming that includes compositions by women composers, composers from minority communities and contemporary composers that are often overlooked by more mainstream orchestras. Tickets are extremely affordable with special consideration given to children and to student IDs! Information about the current concert schedule is posted on the orchestra's website. Concert tickets are also available through their website. Life is about creating memorable experiences, and live music provides that in abundance! If you're looking for a great live music experience, grab a couple tickets and catch the next concert with a friend! As a guest, for lunch, I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken on top. I was given a small soup bowl size salad with some grilled chicken on top and no anchovies. When I asked for a dinner roll, the young server said we don't usually serve rolls with our luncheon salads! For the amount of money, the salad cost and the meager size of the salad a roll was not too much to ask for. I had to wait at least 20 minutes because she said she put it in the oven. When the roll came out my friend and I chuckled. It was the size of a silver dollar! With two small pats of butter. We ordered a small fruit pie with ice cream on top for dessert and we were going to split it. When that came out, we had to laugh again because the scoop of ice cream was the size of a tablespoon. What a disappointment and what a large bill! It was over $40 and we didn't even have any alcohol. This is not the first time I have been disappointed there. Looks like they need to get their act together if they want to continue to encourage new membership. The dining room is lovely. The young server needs a lesson in how to accommodate her customers. If someone asked for a role, just get it!
