I was referred here by my dentist. My case was a difficult one. I had four impacted teeth and was…read moreof course sedated and asleep the whole time. Thank goodness because I get major anxiety from hearing any dental work being done. Dr. Serlo did a great job! I remember counting backwards and then waking up just as fast. I was given a bunch of gauze and a velcro gel ice pack that wrapped around either side of my head so it was hands free. Even though Dr. Serlo was attending a funeral that weekend, he still called to check up on me and left his personal cell number in case I had any concerns. While my recovery wasn't super quick, and I did end up with an infection which I had to take antibiotics for, I am just thankful I didn't lose any feeling in any part of my mouth considering how close one tooth was to a major nerve. I will admit that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and came to the office in a panic thinking that my chin was still numb after the anesthesia wore off. But Dr. Serlo checked me out and assured me that I still had full feeling. (He did the pin prick test.) I only had to take Ibuprofen 3's during recovery and was able to manage my pain just as well without the additional prescription painkillers. I never even bothered to get it filled. I was going on vacation shortly after and Dr. Serlo made sure that if I ran into any problems, he would be able to get me in touch with a doctor in the area and let them know of my situation. I had zero issues with billing which is always a plus! NOTE: While my consultations and follow up appointments were done in the Chapel Hill office, my actual surgery was in the Durham office. Both were nice. I took off one star because I wasn't given a syringe to flush the area until I came in a few days after due to an infection. Not sure if that would've made a difference but I thought I would mention it just in case.

Personally I like to be asked first and then shown why a procedure is necessary. They billed me for my deductible in advance for a plan I didn't begin. All in all my mistake for not asking more questions. Trying to get my 50 dollars back is turning into a major struggle.

When I explained that the missed appointment was due to an emergency that I informed the at the time, they said there were no notes. I asked to speak to management but was told they just went into a meeting and would call me. When I did not hear back I called again and was told they just stepped out and would call later. That never happened. That day I was denied the appointment there was another client who was also turned away because they claimed she didn't confirm appointment that she said she did. This is a very sleazy business and I would recommend anyone considering getting treatment there go to a reputable establishment instead.

I've been to the office a few times now between the 3 of my children. The waiting room itself is…read moreextremely kid-friendly (understandably so). There are two x-boxes available and various toys for children of all ages to play with. There is also a Keurig station for the adults. Thankfully we have never been in the waiting room long. When you walk to the back it leads you to an open room with four dental chairs and ceiling to floor windows. It was so bright with natural light and the decor was so cute. There is also a hallway that has 4 rooms with doors "mommy/daddy and me" rooms for the younger ones. I have also been in one of these rooms with my son who was 18 months old at the time and once again extremely kid friendly. There were plenty of toys and a fire station "dollhouse" for him to play with. He actually did not want to leave! The service provided by the hygienist and Dr. Hardin were top notch! They were both sooooo gentle and nice. They talked to my 6-year-old the entire time they were working on her teeth and let her know step by step what was happening and what to expect next so no surprises for her. Dr. Hardin was also gentle with me in explaining things we could do as parents to improve the health of her our children's teeth. It's natural to feel a little guilty but no mom-shaming here. Gentle and encouraging. They also gave my daughter information (which is better received from the doctor than mom and dad) about the importance of brushing and flossing. There is a wall the child can put his/her name on if they are cavity-free which is a good incentive. Also, they get a coin to get a prize from the machines up front after their visit (she got a bouncy ball). Of course you get a swag bag with a new toothbrush of your choice, toothpaste and I think stickers. She also got a t-shirt (4 bright colors to choose from) for it being her first time there. Her experience was great! The front desk staff is also wonderful. They work with me to find a time that works with my schedule and allows me to get 2 of them in at the same time. They also explain my bill in detail so I know what to expect, insurance payments vs patient responsibility etc. Overall this is just an awesome dentist office. I sure wish I could be a patient!
