PRP is not covered and surgical center fees and anesthesia fees are really high. Nothing is presented as optional or modifiable. This did not feel like medical care, felt more transactional. I decided to go for another opinion, experience was completely different. We did not choose Chapel Hill oral surgery for his surgery, I cannot comment on surgical experience.

However, please do not…read morestart a consultation or treatment here with him if you're needing orthognathic/jaw surgery. My grammar isn't the best and I know I'm wordy, but here is my story. I went to Dr. Jelic because he definitely has experience and expertise with surgical procedures. What I didn't know was that he has a strong stance against vaccines. There's a lot to unpack there but that's not the crux of what happened or why I'm upset. Due to his vaccination status, he isn't authorized to work in a hospital and cannot perform double jaw surgery. However- he does not tell you this until as late into the process as possible. This is after you have already invested thousands on the surgical pre-planning. For me, it was also after I had already been in braces for months. His lobby (which, honestly, is very nice and cozy) has jaw surgery pamphlets and his website as of today still features it as an option. They're able to collect quite a bit of money upfront with no intention of actually performing the surgery, then leave you hanging. I do not believe it is an honest way to conduct a business. At the time, I was told instead we can do one jaw at a time (several weeks in between) in his office. We decided to go forwards with this and scheduled to meet in 3 months. On the morning of my scheduled follow up, I got a call saying they would need to do both jaws at the same time and they can't treat me. I asked if there was anyone they could refer me to but they offered no help or sympathy. They did not respond to any emails or calls from me afterwards. I wanted to thank Siri because her review gave me the courage to say something when the rest of their reviews are so positive. I finally finished my braces journey and found out from my orthodontist that I'm not the first person this happened to. He was not aware of Dr. Jelic's inability to operate in a hospital until recently, with the other patient. This is someone he works with and he intentionally kept this information from. The first patient had gone through the entire process required to prepare for jaw surgery, only to be dropped last minute as well. I lost time, money, and peace of mind for months, not being able to get clear answers from his office. I ended up needing to change and redo my entire braces plan.I feel like the situation was extremely unethical and I wanted to put it out there, and hopefully help even at least one person out there who is looking into their options. This review shouldn't impact you much if you're looking to get a more routine procedure, like an extraction. Jaw surgery and the preparation required is a hard enough process on its own, place your trust and resources with an honest doctor.

In addition to being a marvelous dentist, completely up-to-date with best practices and new technology, he is warm, caring, acutely sensitive to patient's phobias, and just all-around marvelous. The music is wonderful, and the windows look out on a wooded area with bird feeders. You leave feeling glad that you went there, and glad to have spent time with the staff. The equipment seems to be state of the art, and a wide range of dental services are available there. Any needed out-references for other dental specialties are made intelligently and with care. A dental chair is often thought of as one of life's quintessential places of discomfort. But I am surprisingly comfortable in the chairs at Scott Donner's clinic, and doubly so because it is clear that he is a very skilled, knowledgable, and experiences practitioner.
