I have had a number of procedures done to combat my bone loss which has slowed down and stabilized my bone loss. For the teeth that died or needed to be replaced he placed implants which have all been successful. Besides that, I have experienced little pain. One of my central incisors became loose and useless after biting into toffee. Other teeth around it were not secure enough to support one implant. So all four incisors were removed, and implants were inserted and secured to canine teeth. The dentist who created the crowns remarked that she knew Kazmer did the implants because they were perfectly aligned. It was an impressive job he did, and I have had no problems in the two years I have had them. It's not just me and another local dentist. I have had the need to visit UNC Dentistry, and the professor/dentist there was happy that I went to Kazmer because he is the best! Besides his excellence, he has always been very professional along with his staff. His dental hygienists have been thorough, knowledgeable and helpful. And other staff, including office staff and financial consultants, have been top-notch. Plus Kazmer recommends prescription toothpaste which he offers at a discount!!

We arrived on time to check in at the front desk; however, due to a minor dispute regarding insurance coverage and payment installments, the receptionist consulted the manager and asked us to wait a few minutes. We ended up waiting a full half-hour before the manager finally appeared to speak with us. Throughout the entire interaction, she maintained a cold and frosty demeanor; none of the requests or questions we raised were properly addressed or clearly explained. Ultimately, she issued an ultimatum: since it was too late in the day, we would have to reschedule for a different time if we still wanted to proceed with the treatment. When we inquired with the hygienist, we were told the earliest available appointment was a month and a half away--at which point the manager coldly asked if we wished to accept that slot. This was particularly frustrating because we had visited the clinic just a week prior, had already undergone X-rays, and had even taken the prescribed pre-treatment antibiotics. Yet, due to this manager's stalling tactics, we were unable to receive our treatment today. Outraged by this turn of events, we decided to cancel all future dental appointments at this clinic. We are left wondering: was this a case of racial discrimination because of our Asian appearance? In any case, today at this dental clinic--Kazmer Periodontics & Implant Dentistry--we endured the worst experience and the most distressing ordeal imaginable!

However he pressured me into having full jaw X-rays despite my concern that I did not want this kind of radiation exposure because of recent medical imaging exposure. Had a real "Dr. is right, take it or leave it" attitude. I would have wanted to research exposure risks (and I have the training to do so) and wait until next visit but he did not want to examine me without the X-rays (something Dr. Pyle always respected). Of course the total exam bill was twice what I was accustomed to paying. I will not be returning.

Another time, he recommended a completely optional procedure and a couple months later they called to try to get me to have the (unnecessary) procedure done. He once told me that my gums were receding because I was brushing too hard. I adjusted by buying a soft electric toothbrush. When I brought that issue up at an appointment, he denied having told me that in the first place. Um, I didn't make that up, and you're the only dentist I've seen for the past 10 years. Living in Durham, if I had known what to expect, I would have gone elsewhere. Update: Dr. Smith called and scheduled me as an add-on at the end of a business day. That said, it was still far more difficult than it should have been and I would still have chosen differently given the difficulty of getting appointments in the Durham office.

There are some good office staff also. I went to Royal Oak Dental yesterday to have a temporary crown removed and a new crown put in place. The person that was to remove the temp crown started working on me but it was painful and I didn't know what to expect . This person was tugging at pullng the temp crown off pulled back with the instrument she was using and cut my lip she was not aware she did that until she saw the blood. I didn't have trust in her after that. Treat a patient like a person not a machine. I eventually had a numbing agent . Dr Smith is very clever and I believe he is good at what he does. He finally came along and gave me a perfunctory one liner that could infer I was responsible for this injury. He did what he had to do with the crown and stated he would come back when I had numerous xrays. Dr Smith never came back he must have got too busy.

I understand that cancellations are difficult for the company but they do happen. They charged me $100 for cancelling which I paid. I went to the Wainright & Wassel dental office on May 8, 2024 in hopes of having tooth 31…read morerecemented and tooth 5 evaluated for a crown. Three years ago Dr. Mark Wainright had recemented tooth 31 and in 2019 remade a crown for tooth 4.  Since I had had problems with both these teeth, I asked if I could have a price break for the upcoming work. I had done a Google search on crowns and was told they should last 3-5 years.  The crown on tooth 4 was a total waste of my money since it did not close the gap between my 3 & 4 teeth as I was told it would do.  Therefore I believed I had a legitimate cause to ask for a price break. I was seeing Dr. Matthew Wassel since Dr. Wainright had a long wait schedule. Instead of being willing to do my work, I was told that not only could they not recement tooth 31, but that I would also need a whole new crown due to some problem that did not make any sense to me.  The crown on 31 did not have a problem before and it was recemented.  I thought this was absurd and told them so.   For tooth 5, I was told I needed to have an X-ray.  When I said they had just done X-rays five months ago, I was then told they would need  pictures.  I disagreed with both and PLAINLY stated I was not paying for either.  I was then told they would need pictures and I agreed with the stipulation that it would be FREE!  I saw no need for pictures for the evaluation.  I had a mirror if I wanted to see the tooth and pictures were of no use to the dental office for evaluation purposes. I was then told they could place tooth 31, but with only temporary cement.  I told them this idea was insane.   Why would I want the tooth cemented on temporarily to then have to go to another dentist office and have them remove the crown to do it permanently? I left the office and went to see Dr. Christopher Powell later the same day, May 8, 2024 and he recemented the tooth permanently with no questions. There is probably the question as to why I did not complain about the crown on tooth 4 back when it happened?  Tooth 4 is a dental implant.  Doing more work on it could create even more problems.  I was trying to bend over backwards to be a "Nice Guy" in hopes I could stay in good relations with the dentist. My complaints to the dental board are: 1. Dr. Wainright told me he could close the gap between teeth 3 & 4 with a new crown and it did not. 2. Dr. Wassel refused to hear me, billing me for photos that were totally useless. 3. Dr. Wassel refused to hear my issues and instead tried to cover it up by stating that tooth 31 had a problem and needed to be remade. 4.  Dr. Wassel refused to hear my issues, refused to consider my complaints and instead penalized me with two behavior management charges.
