That said, it was clearly all about money, not service. I am not qualified to judge the quality of the surgery he performed. We will find that out in the future from our dentist. What was unsatisfactory was his beside manner and surgical approach. While I was in the office, he was perfunctory, as in rude to use the word my daughter used. Not comforting or pleasant. When my daughter came out of the treatment room quickly (about 10 minutes), I asked her about her experience. Apparently, Dr. Vakkas used Novocain but did not wait for it to take effect so she would be numb. She experienced lots of pain. We had chosen to use oral sedation, not IV. I have had two similar surgeries, I had no sedation, just Novocain and experienced no pain. He did not seem to care about her discomfort. When he completed the surgery, he just walked out without saying anything to her. Not the way to treat any patient, never mind a teenager. Needless to say, we will not be returning nor recommending him.

They wanted us to pay the full price tag for our daughter's wisdom teeth extraction and deal directly with Anthem for reimbursement afterwards, even though they are listed as an "in network" provider. Not wanting to pay $1,400 more than the amount the insurance confirmed we should pay (Approved Amount), we had to cancel the procedure.

I i formed him that I was under the impression that a 3d scanner was required to evaluate the bone and he gave a snappy response saying what kinda dentist did I go to as if I went to a crappie dentist and that they must of put bone graft and just didn't tell me. In all honesty I think it's low class to try and bad mouth other establishments as if your own establishment is not top shelf as well, this guy gives the impression as a fast talking salesman rather then an oral surgeon trying to make 1600 dollars on bone grafting. Sitting on top of a crappie restaurant has gotten to this Oral surgeons head that he needs to be opinionated on other establishments and outright lie to make a sale. The bottom line is that it was unnecessary, even according to The AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION. Look it up, and you'll see that an adult with good oral health and low risk of dental problems should have x-rays taken 24 to 36 months. Realize even though it probably won't give you cancer... why the extra risk... I just told the people there I Just had them taken 4 months ago, and they were fine... Also, they are supposed to do an oral exam first to access if an x-ray is even needed. they skipped this step, and I believe that breaks the ethical guidelines; which obviously are to use the least possible amount of x-ray exposure necessary. But they didn't even mention till I was about to leave, that I can have my x-ray sent over from a few months ago; as if it was a final ditch option. I believe the x-ray on file was from within a 3-year period but they should have done their homework before calling me in for a teeth cleaning and then telling me they can't clean my teeth without an X-ray. SMH. And they really did try everything to pressure me into the Xray. At one point 3 people are there telling me all sorts of feer bait (nonrealistic things to say to someone who has had "no cavities ever") to make me think it was a good idea. And nothing they said made sense because I kept telling her I just had it done not long ago (which i did), so I'm not scared. Too many people don't make good calls and walk in like sheep, and they got used to nobody knowing about how they are supposed to do their job. Don't be stupid, don't take xrays you don't need. But also don't skip it when you do need it. These people gotta quit being greedy. What really got me was how at the beginning of the conversation I was allowed to sign a waiver to not get x rays but suddenly, with the form in the office lady's hand; she says the doctor refuses to see me unless I take X-rays. They basically thought I was soft or possibly already processed paperwork. Something felt like I was being targeted like "Watch me work the Xray on him" attitude. I even said to them it feels like its only about the money.
