Recently discovered this cute gift boutique while picking up a birthday card at the Hallmark store next door. I decided to pop in and check out a gift for my niece's 21st birthday. Probably looking lost wondering what a 21 year old might be into these days, I was greeted by a friendly sales associate who asked if I was looking for something special. I explained the reason for my visit. She immediately began educating me on the latest trends and interesting finds CR carries. The store carries many quality gifts and well known product lines. The sales associate showed me their huge selection of Alex and Ani bracelets and explained their popularity. Even though there was a large assortment to look at, the associate even offered to check for new arrivals. It was hard to choose, but with the help of the associate and a 20-something customer who happened to be shopping at the time, I made a selection. The associate held my item at the register and I continued to shop because the store offers so many great things for everyone. I had eyed a beautiful scarf that would complete a new work outfit and picked that up too! By the time I had made my way back to the register the associate had actually wrapped my niece's gift in a beautiful gift bag and my transaction was completed quickly. The associate offered me a gift receipt with my purchase and also asked if I would like to be put on the CR mailing list. I am so glad I wandered in to shop. My review is based on a few things or shall I say the 3 stars I am giving them, just in now particular order. 1. The quality and quantity of the store to which I have to say is the best in New City/Rockland county which is always a positive in their corner. I myself enjoy coming looking at the new things quit often especially the few baby things especially since I myself just had a little girl and my friend got a bunch of cute things from there including a step stool and piggy bank with her name on it, that's how I came across the store even though I've been going to Hallmark for years and didn't even know this place was right door. 2. Or shall I say the second star I give would be on the workers inside, there are some there you really can tell they are all about helping the customers and know the products in the store, but then there are some girls you get the vibe they don't want to be there. I'm pretty good at reading people and if people are huddle in the corner of the register that to me signals that they don't want to be there.. 3. I love wide range of top end selections best brands in one shop! Overall this place is a great shop for you just got to go at the absolute right time of a specific day. I best recommend a Wednesday morning between 12-2! Don't go after 6 or 15-20 minutes for they close. read more

Cute store, but doesn't feel the same as it used to. I came in about 9-10 months ago for the first time for a Vera event- was so welcomed and felt so comfortable there that I continued giving them business up until about a week or ago. I went in at about ten to 8 on a Friday night looking for a particular Alex and Ani & the first words I was greeted with were "we close in 10 minutes" I was so taken aback but I continued to look and you can tell the girl didn't care to help, but I let it go. I came back in a few days later to what I felt was a High School Reunion, there were 3 young girls all gathered around the registers talking and gossiping while the customers shopped and were walking in and out, nobody to greet you, nobody asking if you needed help-I just felt uncomfortable so I asked the girl to get my Alex and Ani and she just grabbed the first one out of the bag didn't ask if I liked the way it looked which they used to do with me-nothing! Things just seemed different and quite frankly a bit cold and childish there. I'm glad they have Alex and Ani, Vera Bradley, Brighton, Crabtree and Evelyn, and many other awesome gifts but I'm not glad with the atmosphere anymore. read more

In response to Melanie B, I have to disagree. I visit this store at least once a week. The staff ALWAYS greets me and asks if I need any help. I kindly tell them no thank you and continue shopping. If I have a question they are always right there. The patience these girls have is amazing. The Alex and Ani counter is a bit over whelming and it always takes me a while to pick out just the right one. I tell everyone about this store and the VERY friendly staff. I wouldn't walk into a store right before closing and just browse knowing that these staff has closing responsibilities. The store is alway spotless, so if the staff members are stand there and chat is it because they have finished their maintenance. To the credit of the owner, she made an attempt to speak with us and find out what we didn't like about our visit. The store is clean, and the prices seemed OK, though I don't really know this market well, since it is more stuff my wife enjoys than myself. My biggest problem is that the customer service seems to have a minimal effort feeling to it; we never felt welcomed there. If you just want to do a quick shopping, I suppose it's fine, but if you notice the same thing about their salespeople, call them out on it! Tell the owner. Maybe they don't realize what they're doing. My concern is that, in an attempt to feel like a "high end" establishment, certain customers are treated better than others. I'll stick to Original Designs, which is right across the street, from now on. They have a lot of the same stuff, and a much nicer, more helpful staff. I went in to buy a few Alex and Ani bracelets for a friend. When I mentioned a few that I was interested in, the saleslady gave me a dismissive.."No....we don't have those." When I asked her for suggestions, she kept pushing one particular bracelet.. When I said I didn't like that one, and asked her for a different suggestion, she said "I don't know. Whatever." And when I asked to see one that was in the case, she said 'you can see it fine in the case." I should have walked out, and regret not doing so but I was in a rush for a last minute gift, so I bought it. My mistake. It won't happen again. read more

One of my favorite stores! Christopher Robert's is the first place I go when I need to buy a gift. I love everything about this store, from the friendly staff to the great variety of items they sell! There's a great selection on both Alex & Ani and Vera Bradley bags. They also have such fun and unique gifts that are always a great find! The staff is amazing, they're all so friendly and helpful. Anything I need, someone is always there by my side to assist me. Also, another incredible thing about this store is that they have special events with great food and fun raffles! This is my absolute favorite store. This sentiment is shared by many of my friends. They have amazing merchandise and the people who work there are super helpful and friendly. They have a ton of patience with me as I look at each item to compare and decide which one I want! They are always expanding the lines that they sell and have the perfect gifts for any female on your list! Such a selection to choose from! I wish all stores were as customer friendly as Christopher Roberts! They are great about exchanging items and I always leave happier than I went in due to their very helpful sales associates! I LOVE this store!! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful & they go above and beyond to help me find exactly what I'm looking for. I have also attended several of their special events, from their anniversary parties to meeting Vera Bradley's daughter. Each and every one are fantastic events!! Joan Bradley even autographed a piece of luggage I planned to give my daughter as a Christmas gift. From the moment you walk into the store until you are smiling with your purchase, the staff creates a warm and welcoming environment. Absolutely love this store!!!!! I received a beautiful bracelet from a friend here. I absolutely loved it so much I went to the store to visit to see what other items they have. First the service is amazing which you never see anymore in stores. You walk in & right away they greet you with a smile & see if u need help finding anything. I go into Christopher Roberts gifts weekly to see what's new in each of their designer collection. This is the only store in the area that can keep me styled in the latest brand name items. Sure you could order things online but I like to be able to touch what I'm buying and take my items today! I find myself shopping longer because the store is so inviting and you are made to feel comfortable during your experience.
