I had heard good things about this jeweler so when I was gifted a certificate for them I was excited to check them out. I didn't know exactly what I was in the market for but knew I needed the clasp on a necklace soldered and my husband's watch battery replaced. When I was buzzed in a woman came out of the back glass portion and I explained what I needed done and showed her the certificate. She told me certificates can usually only be used on the purchase of new items. I was confused because it didn't state that anywhere on the certificate. She asked a man that was sitting behind the glass and he said "no." I pointed out that it didn't say anything on the certificate and he just repeated "no" so I said ok and left. I'm not sure why this would be the case for a regular gift certificate especially when $50 is far beyond what it would cost. The even funnier thing was when I checked in there on Yelp I received a coupon for a free watch battery change! Seems like a silly thing to lose a customer on but if this is indicative of the level of their service I certainly would not return. read more

My fiancé and I went to Avo's with my great-grandmother's engagement ring. All of the staff was so welcoming when we walked in and patient through our entire experience. My fiancé and I ended up choosing a beautiful setting, but needed a custom setting made because the size of our diamond was smaller than what would fit in the setting at the store. I was little nervous because I couldn't picture the setting with the smaller stone, but the ring is so absolutely amazing - I love it.
