I can't express enough of how much I appreciate the care both received from the wonderful staff here. My mother required surgery here then spent several weeks in rehab on the second floor, the entire staff provided her with the most competent and compassionate care I've ever witnessed, at the time of this review she continues to applaud the care she received and the friendships she made during her stay. My dad was cared for by the staff on the eighth floor for a little over a week, again the care provided was exceptional. Our entire family is so thankful for everyone here and although there is no cure for growing old the care my parents received has given both of them an opportunity to continue to improve as they deal with the next stages in their lives. This community is so blessed to have a facility of this caliber staffed with so many wonderful people. I visited both my parents daily during their stays here and was able to see first hand the care provided here and will be forever thankful...

Well, after 4 days she was not better and then Saturday we went to Memorial Hospital ER. The ER Doctor looked at the labs from Lake Area and told us that the Keflex was the wrong medicine for the bacteria she had. We had to keep this 91 year old in the hospital overnight due to the ineptness of the Nurse Practitioner and no one followed up once the culture was done. I phoned the ER Supervisor yesterday and she assured me I would get a return phone call once she investigated. Well, I am still waiting for that phone call.That is why I am posting this bad review. Please don't leave your loved one alone at the hospital. And think twice before going to Lake Area.

I went to Avail Hospital on recommendation that they work with you; however, this was not the case. While I do have a $500 deductible on my insurance, my insurance does pay some before the deductible is met so that you don't have to pay $500 in one fell swoop. After speaking with my insurance, my insurance informed that Avail should have never made us pay $450 upfront before billing the insurance. Also why was the hospital trip that expensive anyways???? My 3 yr old fell and cut his chin open and they simply just "glued" the cut shut. My other son had a similar injury on his forehead when he was about the same age that he sustained at school and that ER visit was less than $200. So while the staff is friendly and you get see quickly (mainly because they don't have a lobby full of people) they are extremely expensive and do not bill your insurance first. I will never go back again. I'd rather wait at an ER for a few hours and pay a reasonable bill. On 6/15/22 I Updated my review with information that is pertinent to my previously left review --- My husband has been trying to contact billing department because we received our EOB but never received a billing statement from Avail. Our EOB shows that Avail owes us a refund; however, the billing department refuses to return the messages left. Additionally when I left my review on the BBB back on 5/4/22, there was a response from Avail to contact them by phone/email but the information to contact was either "*****" or "XXXXX", and no, it was not an auto filter blocking the contact because in a review left by someone else, they responded with a phone number and you can see the phone number.
