(Disclaimer: We were much too hungry to remember pictures of the actual food before half of it was gone baby gone) Pie head here...gotta try the pie everywhere I go, whether its just passing through or trying to establish a new long term relationship. Still not quite sure how I ended up living on a Native American reservation, specifically the Zuni reservation (much too personal for restaurant review)...but even if I didn't have such a knowledgeable guide, there's basically no way to miss Chu Chu's and not say to yourself, "yea, lets grab a bite to eat there". No, seriously, this place is right off the main road into town, and has a dominant presence like no other structure except maybe the brand new Halona Supermarket...the owner must be a billionaire by now. So, I was already on my in for the Pizza, but without any pretense you'd probably never guess that their specialty is Pizza and Subs, but by the time you're seated and get your menu with the Native American looking Chef Boyardee mascot on every page, you'll probably get the hint. A word about the venue itself....the place is massive!, well decorated with an authentic and unique decour that feels classy but home-y, and apparently serves as a community hub for birthday parties and many other social functions. Like, even the Governor eats at Chu-Chu's once a week...its that big of a deal. Interestingly enough, the entire reservation is dry, so don't expect to wash away the inevitable and pleasant tingle of green chile from your palette with cold beer...this however does make a statement about the strength and quality of the food and drink menu. We had a feast...starting with the standard XL Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza which I use as a reference for any first time patronage, except with a New Mexico twist; the aforementioned Green Chile, which was baked in just right, and enhanced the Pizza as opposed to hindering it. We also ordered a Brisket platter that I must say was as unique as it was delicious...specifically, compared to the more widespread Texas style, the cuts were thinner and less charred, but well carmelized with less salt, and lighter in color. (Will need to do a Youtube dive about that actually...) Long story short, we had leftover Pizza to go, and I'll definitely be back, with hopes of bumping into the Govna of course! The service was so-so, my order was not right, asked for red chili on tacos on soft shell. No chili, tacos came on hard shell and told the waiter who didn't ask me if I wanted to make it correct or what can I do to make it right. The menu is overpriced and it seems like beans were canned beans. Total price for a taco plate and enchilada plate and 2 ice teas was $54 including tax and tip. read more

This place is a delight for being located in such a rural place. I won't lie, prices are a little high, specifically the pizza, but very worth the price! The service was a bit slow, keeping in mind that we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. Regardless, the pizza made up for it to me and I'd be back because the pizza alone. read more

I can't believe I haven't already written this review, as I was here a couple months ago on a road trip and this place was one of the great culinary standouts on a trip full of them. Long story short: Chu Chu's is fantastic, so don't miss it if you are in the area! The longer version? The sourdough they use to make their pizza crust and bread is unique and the flavor is phenomenal. I saw the plaque on the wall with the New Mexico magazine in which they were voted 'worth a drive' for their sourdough, and I wholeheartedly agree. My parents shared a pizza and absolutely loved it. I had a veggie sub, with some of the most beautiful and delicious bread I have ever eaten. What else? Their service is great. Everyone is so nice and it just is a great atmosphere. And what a beautiful view while you eat! I truly hope I have a chance to come back to Chu Chu's someday. So, if you have the chance to stop by, don't miss it! read more

Food is pretty good. The downfall is the wait time when dining in and add ~15 to your carry out time.

Ordered spaghetti and meatballs. First time ever ordering from here. The order was to go and it didn't take long to prepare which I figured being that I'm in the food service industry as well. I figured the pasta was pre portioned and ready to reheat in hot water over the stove. The sauce would be kept warm on a steam table. The meatballs would be in the fridge ready to be warmed up. It came with a side salad. When I got home with my food I opened it up and both the salad and entree were in the same container. Although a divided container didn't stop the lettuce from getting wilted. The spaghetti noodles were fine texture wise. The sauce well let me say it was nothing more than a mixture of tomato sauce and tomato paste with a minute amount of seasoning. Couldn't taste any garlic or any Italian herbs whatsoever. The "meatballs" well it was nothing more than cooked unseasoned ground beef which was under about a cup of sauce. Couldn't be more disappointed in this dinner. read more

Well we found Chu Chi's while riding motorcycle and after a long ride it was time to feed the inner beast. We sat down and liked the clean atmosphere and cool wooden design of the dining area. We were immediately given chips and salsa to snack on with our idea tea and water. The chips were pretty normal but the salsa was surprisingly good since usually most places taste like store bought... So hurray for the salsa! We ordered the chicken dinner meal 6 pieces to share was a good choice. Mashed potatoes for a side were alright... All in all a good spot to stop.... read more

I'm from Zuni but do not live in the area anymore so when I visit then we make a trip to Chu Chu's. My husband loves the pizza and even eats the crust And he never does that. We tried the wings this time and they were great as well!! We will see you next time!! read more

I've been to Chu Chu's twice in the last two years and so I'm here to present the outsider's perspective. Chu Chu's isn't just about the pizza, it's about where you are when you eat Chu Chu's pizza. You're in the Zuni Nation. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Chances are, you've been driving a while when you get there. You see the Chu Chu's sign and pull into the parking lot. Maybe there's a family sharing a pizza in one of the window booths, and as soon as you walk in, you feel like you're entering an old style family pizzeria from your youth. The pizzeria is clean but there's a reassuring thin film of grease on things and as you drink a large ice-cold soda, you get the feeling you're in the right place. The pizza has a crunchy crust, generous toppings, and the young guy who served us both times was really friendly. Don't be a tool (like me) and try to ask him about Zuni culture. He will kindly divert the conversation somewhere else. The Zuni People, in my experience, are very friendly, but guard their culture carefully. read more

Overall our experience was great! My kids who are very picky eaters loved the pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. The chips and salsa were very good! There was only one server working when we went and she was swamped with several tables but she definitely held down the fort and still provided good service. I saw they were hiring and short staffed so I didn't hold that against them. The cook even came out to chat, wished us well and brought us to-go boxes. Chu Chu's is a very charming place. read more

Visited this place November 25th 2019 for dinner with my family. While the food was ok it was kind of awkward as there was an employee that was chasing another around the dinning room telling him that he was going to kill him. After seeing that it was a complete turn off. We took a chance with this place and we will never be back. Hopefully none of the customers have to deal with that again. read more

This is one of the places we frequent if we want to eat out. The food quality is always good. During busy times service could get a bit slow but there always seems to be a good crowd. The restaurant services more than just pizza, they do daily specials for lunch and dinner that are always good. We will definitely continue to go to the restaurant to eat. read more

As a worried traveller, I was concerned that this was going to be the ONLY place in town to eat aside from the grocery store/deli, and therefore did not HAVE to be great. But it WAS great - the blue corn enchiladas were tasty, all the garnishes and trimmings were fresh, service was just fine. I'd certainly go back! read more
