I was very surprised to find this place in a truck stop. It's no longer a buffet. Very good food, fast service, friendly people and a little hole in the wall! I got the chicken tandoori and it was huge! It had like 8 pieces of chicken in it with onions and green peppers. It also came with rice. I ordered a naan and it was good and fresh! Having experienced some local Indian restaurants in the past we weren't too timid but this place is attached to a truck stop. The meal and service were exceptional. I had the Lamb Vindaloo with garlic naan and my two dining mates had curry (chicken and goat). We all selected medium spice level and two of us agreed we could've gone a notch spicier. Great flavors at a truck stop. The buffet was closed so we ordered when we walked in. If you are driving through Gallup, call 20-30 mins ahead. All the classics. I got a saag and my boyfriend the curry. Both were excellent. You get a pint of curry and a pint of rice per entree. I have yet to find Indian food this food in Phoenix. I was really impressed with the flavor profiles of both of our meals. 10/10 for Indian food but 100/10 for truck stop food. Sure, the place is absolutely no ambiance and is inside a truck stop, but do not be fooled by the exterior of this place. This restaurant is run by Punjabis and most of their clientele are Punjabi truck drivers. Yes, there is a whole business of truck drivers that are Punjabi Indians that drive trucks all over the US. The companies operate out of Canada and provide these services in the US. And did you know, that in India, Punjabis are known to run the truck companies there? So, essentially, there is this restaurant business all along large highway routes for Indian truck drivers. And definitely eat where they eat. It's like NYC taxi drivers, go where they eat! The AYCE buffet is what you need to get. It is served every day (except Mondays) from 11am - 5pm. Yes, all you can eat lunch buffet until 5pm! They have plenty of veggie options including channa (chickpeas), some kind of aloo (potato), very fresh naan, tandoori chicken, excellent pakoda (onion fritters), excellent gulab jamun (sweet dessert). If you ask for masala chai, they will give you a large piping hot, oh so good authentic Indian chai. And all this for whopping $12.99!
