My recent experience here was short and sweet. I can't speak to their food but I'd give their coffee a thumbs up! My dad and I stopped by the outside drive-thru portion of the restaurant in search of a morning drink. The menu looked really extensive with lots of breakfast items, sandwiches, bagels, and hot dogs. I've yet to try any of it so I'll have to return for that, but in the meantime, I was happy with my iced almond milk latte. The service was quick and social-distancing was practiced by the staff (thank you!). I love the idea of being able to walk up to a window and order, as opposed to needing to enter into a building as this time. Ordered a Gyro sandwich through Uber eats. I received meat and a piece of pita and half a slice of tomato. Sandwich should have also had onion, feta cheese and sauce. When I called the restaurant they refused to give me a refund. Directed me to Uber eats for my refund. When contacted Uber eats, I was told I'm not eligible for a refund cause they didn't make the food. I'm not mad at Uber. Was in Milwaukee back in 2020. Not the best time to be traveling with lockdowns but it was for family and I needed to be in Milwaukee. Anyway, after an evening flight I arrived by Uber near the neighborhood where my Air B&B was located. I was so hungry and saw Chubby's nearby. Thank god..many businesses were closed because of lockdown but not Chubby's. I decided to forgo the cheesesteak and instead went with the chicken dinner...delicious and huge portions...fries, coleslaw and a roll. I couldn't eat it all, so I took some back to my Air B&B. Ordered take out and got the Philly Cheese Steak with American cheese and the sampler platter. Their menu was huge so it was hard to decide. Barely any cheese or veggies on the overall sandwich, but loaded with tons of meat. Flavor was just ok but we weren't blown away. Sampler platter was tiny for the price. Nothing outstanding either. Though we were super impressed, we weren't disappointed. Would maybe just try other items instead. I ordered from a place on EatStreet called The Breakfast Club thinking it was a local restaurant. Turned out it was actually Chubby's under a different name for some reason so I was disappointed in that. This "The Breakfast Club" place has no website, no Facebook page, no Yelp page, absolutely nothing. The only way I found out anything about them was trough EatStreet and I found some reviews on GrubHub's website after I already ordered...the reviews were terrible. My food came and I was disappointed to say the least. I ordered some breakfast platter they had. The "bacon" was very obviously fake. Very rubbery and chewy and dark in color. The scrambled eggs and chicken patty it came with had absolutely no flavor. The chicken patty was also wet and soggy on the bottom of it. The only things that were edible were the Belgian waffle and the tater tots. The tater tots had good flavor and seasonings on them. They may have been a bit on the salty side but not too heavily. The waffle was nice and soft and the syrup that came with it was delicious. Overall I was very disappointed in this order. You could tell nothing was cooked fresh and everything was reheated and stuck in a couple styrofoam boxes. I am definitely trying to get a refund from EatStreet or somebody. My money was definitely wasted seeing as almost all my food went in the damn garbage. Do not get anything from this place. Stay far away and use your money somewhere that deserves it and is worth it. read more

They say nothing good happens after 2 AM...not true if it involves Chubby's Cheesesteaks. Best mistake ever. PREFACE: We got into MKE at 1 AM, so by the time we were checked in and settled at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown MKE, it was close to 2 AM. Most kitchens were closed, much less within walking distance. We saw that Chubby's was open until 2 AM so we made a quick call to confirm. Upon calling, we realized they were open until 3 AM and available for deliveries. Sweet! DELIVERY: Loved the quick and easy online order delivery via Yelp. The delivery guy even delivered our order directly to our room upstairs. Ordering after 2 AM, we didn't expect the food to come until 3 AM, but it came much quicker than expected. FOOD: I shared the Mushroom Swiss Cheesesteak and Nachos Supreme. Their cheesesteak was not was good as Nathan's, but didn't taste super oily or unhealthy at 2 AM, so I consider it a good decision. The nachos were good shared, but I would not be quick to recommend the chicken. While the chicken is small and bite-sized and just lightly peppered, it didn't seem to mesh well with the nachos. I liked most of the toppings on the nachos, except the lettuce, tomatoes, diced raw onions seemed like an odd choice for nachos. The cheese, jalapeños, and sour cream were spot on though. Overall, I can see why Chubby's has 3.5 stars, presumably for their food. It's decent, but not great for fast food. What pushes my review to 4 stars is its ease of online delivery and pay system, the fact that their kitchen stays open until 3 AM, and that they deliver all the way up to our hotel room on the 4th floor. I split my sandwich with my daughter but I could have easily made a second sandwich with all of the meat that fell out of my mushroom swiss and steak sub. The hubby went for the buffalo chicken sub and loved it. The onion rings are huge and to die for. The meat was well seasoned and not greasy. Horrible establishment. Food reminded me of school lunch cafeteria food. I had a meatball sub, meatballs were old (actually gray) ,dry and flavorless, bread should have been tossed the day before and the sauce was watery and also flavoless. My wife had a cheese steak sub. Her steak was gross, stringy and flavorless. Also I was harassed by another customer for change and the employees did nothing to remove him as he continued to ask me, my wife my 10 year old son and several other customers for change. Employees were scratching their scalps and coughing without washing hands. Place just generally looked filthy. I should have just left as soon as I walked in, but I didn't. I personally like the way they do their fries, but not everyone will be a fan of the extra breading. I do agree with other Yelpers in that the food here is over priced for the quality. For a drive through, the service is extremely slow (10 minute wait), and the novelty of such a big menu is wasted when they don't have the food in stock and can't get your order right anyway. Ordered 12 pack of donuts, an turkey sausage/egg sandwhich, and a shake. After 5 minutes of waiting, I was informed they had no bread for the sandwhich, so I'd have to be refunded or get something else. I said I'd take a chili cheese dog. 3.8 stars. I didn't want to select 3 because that comes across as ho-hum to me but 4 seems a bit generous as we are just talking cheesesteaks here! When it comes to cheesesteaks I am pretty sure there is a large amount of people outside Philly that don't know what makes a real cheesesteak. The nice thing about TV and the internet is you can learn what makes a real Philly Cheesesteak. If you are still wondering it's the Cheese Whiz. For me it's a pet peeve to see "Philly Cheesesteak" on a menu and find that it's melted provolone. Nothing wrong with melted provolone it's just not a Philly. So that said most places that advertise a Philly Cheesesteak are offering a big huge lie. A heart breaking lie. Chubby's gets it right. Overloading your sandwich like a clown car ready to burst at the seams. After the cheese is loaded on top you may ask yourself "How do i even begin?". Well that's when you let out a sigh and realize that this is going to be an ordeal. You may make a mess and that's ok. Chubby's gets 3.8 stars because they do it right and there are other options to choose from. I had the French Fry Cheesesteak that has (as you may have guessed) french fries and fried onions along with the steak and cheese. It's a good size sandwich and I felt they were generous with the amount of meat. Some places come up short and skimp out. At Chubby's you are going to get your fill. I can only imagine how bad for you this sandwich is. Watching your figure? Care about living? Also a sandwich of this nature can and very well may put you into a food coma/food hangover. So if you planned on being productive later in the day it may not happen. When I went it was dead and my party of two had plenty of seating percentage wise to choose from....which is limited. I don't know how busy the dine in gets but they maybe seat 15-20? This may be a better "to go" option. Parking in that goofy lot is well.....goofy. You could luck out or find yourself on the street as I have. It's a roll of the dice. This is one of those great guilty pleasures I hear about so often. The odd thing is if I had not ordered a side this review would sound a lot different, unfortunately, I had to experience the unexplainable, inexcusable customer service that rendered more than one star impossible to give. This makes me sad as the sandwich was good. The delivery guy was quick and polite. The major problem came from a simple side order of coleslaw...my boyfriend wanted a pound and since we were saving so much due to a deal from their new online ordering site we decided to go for it! Our order arrived ahead of schedule (although there is a glitch with the new site where an address is not saved to an account - hopefully this will be corrected) and everything looked great. Well, with the notable exception of the pound of coleslaw weighing in at an astounding 4oz (a size smaller than the smallest amount offered on their menu - 8oz) Seriously? I am not petty but that is a BIG difference. So we called and stated that we must not have received the correct container...instead of being reassured that it was a mix-up we were told their scale was accurate and that we were wrong. Multiple calls, over 15 minutes on hold (it's coleslaw, just let it go right? Damn my stubbornness) and we end up getting another small container delivered (at this point I can only assume it's been spit in considering the attitude of the employees) which weighs out to a solid 7oz. Okay, if the initial delivery had been two of those little containers we'd be cool. However, as it stands I will never go back. After my third experience with Chubby's, I had to swear off this place for good. First time: I was new to Milwaukee, and Chubby's had been displayed prominently on Google for takeout in my neighborhood. I ordered the "Chubby's Cheesesteak" for myself and something else for my girlfriend (I don't remember what exactly, BBQ cheesesteak maybe? Doesn't matter) and an order of fries. When the driver got there, the order was all messed up. We got two of the same sandwich and the fries were missing. To Chubby's credit, they fixed this painlessly. Second time: The order was right, but it took almost two hours to be delivered. The sandwiches were extremely greasy after sitting wrapped up for who knows how long? The third and final time was shortly after I moved to Riverwest. After some time of indecisively sitting on Grubhub with my girlfriend considering our options we decided to give Chubby's another shot. I ordered the Corned Beef Reuben and my girlfriend had ordered, I think, the 4-Cheese Cheesesteak. The order came, once again, late (although it didn't take two hours this time) and when it got there the delivery driver demanded payment. This would be pretty normal...except we had already paid by credit card through Grubhub. The driver was pretty adamant that we had not, but we showed him our confirmation email and finally he relented after calling the restaurant. I don't know whether he was trying to pull a fast one or what, but it was an off-putting experience to say the least. We never did try them again. Three strikes and all that, you know? It's been awhile, maybe a year or so since we last ordered from here, so take my review with a grain of salt. Hopefully they've shaped up. The food wasn't half-bad and as long as you're not ordering something unusual (like their shrimp basket, huh?) it looks like it's a decent value for the money.
