I've found the service pretty good here, but it's not a Philly Cheesesteak sandwhich, so that's just disappointing. So close to where the Philly Way was, it's just so sad for me. For fast food, it's not bad, though nothing here is good for you. If you're mentally prepared for a sandwhich that is not a Philly Cheesteak then you might like it.

Probably the best Cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly! Definitely very authentic, similar to what you'd find at Geno's or Jim's! I didn't think I would be very impressed when I first walked in, but when they asked if I want cheese whiz on it, I took it a little more seriously. I was outstanding. Even The fries were impressive. The restaurant was absolutely immaculate! I can not wait to go back again.

    Terrible employees

This is my first time to write a review about a place and this is because I've never experienced such terrible and disgusting service. I ordered on doordash and I selected a Philly cheesesteak and checked steak and provolone cheese. I also added a note to include details such as "ONLY steak and cheese. No additional toppings." I come to pick up my order and I was greeted was terrible service. I took my sandwich and went to my car. I opened the sandwich and first thing I saw was the HUMONGOUS piece of black hair twisted into the meat, cheese, AND toppings such as bell peppers and onions. I went back inside and showed the girl at the register and she said "I didn't see the details so my bad." And I mentioned the big piece of human hair and she said I can't refund you. You ordered through the app and they are the middle party." I said can you remake it? She said "I was going to remake it but because of your tone I'm not going to remake it and you will have to go through the door dash app and get refunded your money." She went into the kitchen and told then unhygienic looking cook that she refused my order. And he blatantly responded to her "good job". I was in food service for 7 years and I'm shocked at this experience. I'm seriously in awe of how disgusting and disappointing people can be. Here is a couple photos of them not doing jack shit pertaining to their jobs and refusing costumers orders who ALREADY paid for food that was made incorrectly and had a HUGE hair in it. Disgusting.

Kind of a let down. Service was questionable. Food was OK but overpriced for what you get. Don't really see a reason to go back.

Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.

The only crime here is that this place isn't a chain and it's miles away from me. Our waitress was amazing, the vibes were perfect, everything felt intentional in the best way. The heirloom tomato salad was so fresh and delightful. A full 5 out of 5. And those beef tallow fries were unreal. I am still thinking about them and genuinely wish I could figure out how to recreate them at home. TikTok actually delivered on this one. Very happy we ended up going.

We have been to a lot of markets: Cleveland, Detroit, Charleston, Cincinnati, we lived a few blocks away from Reading in Philly for two years. But best market in the US? That's a different league. Ironically it is literally the smallest market of them all. It's almost comforting because there aren't that many things to choose from. But, disappointing at the same time. There was a lovely souvenir spot. Very small but it has some cute shit. I got a shirt. GF got a sweatshirt. We then got coffee. There was a long line. That felt like a good sign. I got the nutty pedestrian which was good. GF got a frosty something. As a whore for anything mint flavored, I was expecting this to knock it out of the park but it wasn't as minty or as sweet as I would have preferred. Next, we went for the candy place and bakery. I was disappointed to not see one Kringle in this place. Oh well. The gigantic cookies would have to suffice. We got regular chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, and a Wisconsin something or other. The Wisconsin something or other had like walnuts, craisins, and chocolate chips. Delicious. The standard chocolate chip was fantastic as well. The candy was really good too. Finally, we topped everything off with empanadas which were spectacular. I reviewed that separately. Surprisingly small but a lot of value squeezed into the square footage.

I got the grilled pork banh mi with a cup of broth (~1/2 quart, $5) with a Vietnamese iced coffee. Sandwich was good, but it wasn't very big for $10. The meat, which was good I was expecting to be pieces of grilled meat, was very sparse and very thin, like bulgogi. The broth was pretty sweet instead of savory and likely already pre-seasoned with hoisin. In terms of service, I had placed my order first. Sandwich with the coffee. My partner said he'll have the same thing. I confirmed to make sure that was also including the ice coffee, and the person that took our order said yes. We waited for a while for our order (highly recommend ordering online, we just saw different prices on their website vs online ordering service, so we thought we'd just wait to order in person), then she forgot our iced coffees. We waited some more. She only brought out one. She said oh sorry, I only rang you up for one. So we waited some more. At that point I thought she would just let us have the coffee on the house, but she did indeed ring us up. We were probably in and out with our to-go order in about 40 minutes. All in all, I'd go back for the iced coffees if I was in the area because they were good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
