An independent family owned sub sandwich store?! A foot long daily special starting from $5.40?! Chubby's Subs delivers probably the best bang for the money. I suggest going for their Chicken Sub Special for $6.40 with is made from real chicken breast and not the processed variety. Toppings and sauces selection is as good as any chain subway joint. I love the option of able to have my sub pressed into a panini. At a big strip plaza and you probably cannot see the storefront when you drive by Morningside.

One of the best subs around. Better than any chain resto. The quality and quantity of the meat and toppings were amazing. I had the turkey bacon on whole wheat. Yummm

Best Subs in the Morningside Area. Chubbys is a great place to grab a sub on the go. The daily specials are fantastic with a good variety of subs at a great price. I get the chicken variants. The one thing that brings me back is the fact that the chicken is a real solid piece of meat. Unlike its popular competitors, where the chicken "patties" all have the same shape, mushy consistency, and identical char marks. These guys give you a good portion of real meat nicely seasoned. My only con is that the pre cooked meats are microwaved. Not the end of the world, still edible and not rubbery. That said would recommend getting a good amount of sauce, so the sub doesn't turn out too dry. The ingredients are your typical assortment. Multiple sauces to choose. Overall for the price and the food great place to get a sub. Simple and gets the job done. Would recommend and would go again.

Thank you fellow Yelpers for letting me know of this hidden place for subs. True to the ratings, Chubby's did not disappoint! Got the Monday footlong BLT special, grilled on the press. Half for lunch and half for later. I must agree, Chubby's builds a wicked sub. Generous with the toppings. The second half of the sub tasted just as good 4 hrs later. Wasn't soggy at all. Tried their potato & leek soup. Not so great. I'll stick with just their subs.

Chicken breast sub "12 special - $7.00 with a bag of chips as the side.

Chubby's is a old school sub place offering the basic subs. They got your assorted cold cuts, bacon, tuna and chicken breast subs with the typical toppings (lettuce, tomato, olives, pickles, etc) and the standard sauces similar to most other sub places. They were open for dine-in as well during COVID, I would say the only major draw back is their sides. Packaged cookies, chips and one choice of soup per day. Would be nice if there was some variety, especially with the soups.

BEST SUB PLACE IN SCARBOROUGH!! if you want authentic traditional submarines then this is your place to go. Fresh ingredients everyday, amazing staff, more than reasonable price, so many options on subs, they even make there own chicken breast and jerk chicken for the subs ! I bought 2 foot long assorted subs and it only cost me 12+ tax, that's less than 1 sub at subway, also very generous in toppings. Hands down 5 starss !!

I prefer Subway. Sorry Chubby but your sandwiches just didn't cut it. Go elsewhere for a sub.

The kaiser bun is so soft, the meat is freshly sliced then stacked high, options of mustard, cheeses, lettuce and tomato. It is quite the exercise for old jaw to unhinge to its max to make way for enjoyment of his meat combos. His famous Roast Beef is cooked to a rare-medium, not well done like at the supermarket. I would have preferred a horseradish Mayo instead of the mustard, maybe you can ask if that's an option on your next visit. The Fight Club is an assortment of meats, and for $8.50 it's a great deal. Now these are not Foodie sandwiches, nothing extra unique to be discovered, it's just fresh, quality and made with a smile for you. They also sell frozen meals and soups to go. I have a heavy tray of Eggplant Parm in the freezer, will comment on that after it's gets baked. I'm ordering a sandwich platter for a potluck, he makes the traditional sliced bread, deli meat triangles or sliders from his wall menu(these are $3.50 each).

Super homey feeling and the blackboard styled menu was cool. Owner seemed nice as well. For my order I got takeout on the Friday special - Hot roast beef sandwich ($8) and a chicken samosa ($2). I think I enjoyed the sandwich a decent bit. Definitely fair priced and came with lettuce, onions, and cheese. However, the sandwich was super greasy and when we ordered, he just microwaved it lol. At least subway will put it in an oven. The samosa was pretty tasty though. Overall, I think my experience lacked a bit but maybe their cold roast beef is better (but it also wasn't available when I went). 3.5/5 stars.

Ryan is the founder of the business, which he runs with family and friends. We got to meet Riott, his son, who had a love for skulls and all Halloween decorations at this eatery. This place specializes in sandwiches. Many of their meats are slow-cooked for ten hours. Sauces, soups, and slaw are homemade. We ordered many items off the menu and had what we liked: - Jalapeno and house slaws - Chickpea and ham soup - Roasted garlic and tomato soup - The Brooklyn (Italian) - Hot corned beef - Montreal smoked meat - Slicey's chopped chicken - Chicken club wrap I started with the hot corned beef sandwich. The corned beef was generous and so flavourful. The rye bread held all that tender corned beef together, along with the best grainy mustard aioli. I am a soup girl. I enjoyed the roasted garlic and tomato soup. It had the perfect amount of garlic with tomatoes, along with onions and spices. It was a comforting, smooth soup. The chickpea and ham soup was excellent. It had nice cubes of ham with chickpeas. It was so hearty and delicious. I also love slaw. The jalapeno and house slaws were crunchy. The former was creamy with a touch of heat. The latter was vinegar-based. You get the best of both slaw dressing worlds! I then had the Montreal smoked meat. It was full of the most tender smoked meat on rye bread with mustard. So good! I'm not sure how I managed to down Slicey's chopped chicken sandwich. It was so good that I did! It had slow-cooked chicken that was chopped with tomato, and red onion. It included the jalapeno slaw, along with white cheddar. It was messy to eat, but so worth it. The flavours were outstanding. This business supports other local businesses. The bread comes from a local bakery. It also features Purple Tongue hot sauces. Staff are super friendly and kind. They can craft a sandwich to your liking if you go with The Riott. There were two separate washroom stalls. I used one of them before I left this eatery. It was clean. No complaints. It's a comfortable place to hang out with friends over good food and drinks. I ended up having a Diet Coke and Crush cream soda during the two hours that we were here. They were cold and refreshing. It's street parking for three hours. It's free, which is nice. Alternatively, there is a parking lot across from this eatery. I look forward to returning for more good eats and soup. It's a gem of a sandwich place that happens to have awesome soups and slaw. (391)

I think my rating would be way higher if more effort was put into the construction of the sandwich to complement the pastrami... Like the bread and toppings just didn't do anything to help the meat (which was delicious on its own). I do like that you can choose the kind of mustard you want as well as the cut of pastrami (lean, fatty, both, etc.) For a simple and quick pastrami sandwich, it does the job but I don't think it's worth the Michelin recommendation... This spot gets hyped up EVERYWHERE online but I think that just comes from lack of abundance for this type of food. If you're willing to make a trip for a WAY better fresh pastrami/smoked meat experience, head on over to When The Pig Came Home at the Junction in TO. You won't be disappointed.

I remembered this California Sandwiches across the street. I had never been to this location before. It was time to visit it. There was lots of parking. It's where a bunch of box stores are, including Lowe's Home Improvement and Michael's. This California Sandwiches is a part of a row of three businesses. When you are looking north on Warden Avenue, it's California sandwiches on the left, Freedom Mobile in the middle, and Big Guys that is closest to Warden Avenue. All three businesses are just south of the Merchant's Flea Market. I parked close to the eatery and walked over. There is a ramp if you require a wheelchair or rolling walker to get there. I walked in. There were two folks in front of me in the lineup to place an order. The woman, in particular, was taking her sweet time ordering her sausage sandwich. Luckily, I had had some popcorn during the movie. I wasn't hangry. I was hungry, though. When she was finally done ordering, I got up to the front counter. There is plexiglass that separates you and the staffer. She was nice, but she couldn't hear my order because the woman next to me kept talking to another staffer for some reason. The staffer and I both looked at this woman. When she had finished talking, I repeated myself. The staffer finally heard me. I ordered a veal sandwich with mushrooms. Toppings seemed to have increased since I last ordered this sandwich. It was $2.50 for mushrooms. I love mushrooms that it's a non-negotiable for me. When the woman in front of me was ordering, I was admiring her purple sneakers. Sure enough, we struck up a conversation. She noticed my purple t-shirt that I had on. We got to talking about her sneakers. She got them from Amazon and said that they were comfy, but ran large. She said that they were fine with her arch support and socks on. It was nice chatting with her. She was on the high maintenance side, though. Staff were extremely patient with her. She had ordered a canned drink, but wanted it in a glass. A staffer grabbed one from the shelf. The woman asked that the glass be rinsed out. The lineup behind me became long. It's what happens when you need to wash a glass out, I suppose. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I waited patiently off to the side for my food. I will say that service is slower here than most California Sandwiches that I have been to. I think the woman receiving the food from the kitchen, and then placing it into bags or on trays was spaced out. It was interesting to observe. When she rattled off my order, I acknowledged her, which seemed to snap her out of whatever temporary trance that she was in. She handed me my paper bag with my sandwich. I thanked her and left the eatery. There were tables and seats to dine in. However, I felt like eating in my car. It's private. I can listen to good music. It's good. I'm used to it. Out of all California Sandwiches that I have frequented, this place takes the cake, um, sandwich. I got the largest veal sandwich ever. This place was generous with the layers of veal that were between the bun, with an equally generous amount of marinara sauce smothered on top of the veal. I unwrapped my sandwich and the right half of it automatically fell to the right. It was that weighty. You do get a bunch of those thin, flimsy napkins. I had to use them all. Another reason to eat it in your car is that it's a messy activity. I had marinara sauce on my face and around my mouth with each bite like a kid. It was a sign of a decent sandwich. Oddly, I never wore my sandwich. I normally do with a large, messy one. If the sauce or mushrooms had to fall out of my sandwich, they did onto the wrapper. Yay to no clothing stains and not doing laundry that night! This sandwich was gigantic and yummy. The veal was tender and perfectly breaded. The marinara sauce was flavourful. It was the perfect amount. I got a lot of mushrooms, which made this mushroom fan happy. The bun was soft and allowed me to grip everything as well as I could. Looking back, I should have stopped after devouring half my sandwich. It was so hot and delicious that I ate the other half. I then suffered from being full and had to take a walk. Otherwise, I would have passed out in my car for an hour or more. I dig this eatery a lot. My sandwich was excellent. Staff were helpful and pleasant. We'll see what folks are there when I return next time. (170)
