This place was highly recommended and was packed with people; in fact, my wife and I came at around 5:30 pm the night before a big event (assume it would be the same around a game) and we had an hour wait to be seated. The service was good; our waitress was charming and attentive but for whatever strange reason, they kept taking our utensils and when a different staffer would bring the next course, they'd neglect to bring utensils... this happened twice! Pure torture looking at bread pudding without the means to eat it! Which brings me to the food... it was just decent for the price, I would have expected more. I had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked but still just meh; kinda thin and not very flavorful. The wife had the sushi and it was good, but again, for the prices in this place, I would have expected a little better food. It's like choosing between your kids -- you love them both, and one of them is definitely a little wild. For you newbies, here's the inside scoop: ask for the "other" sushi menu. Don't be shy. "On the fence" is the best description of my opinion of this place. Allow me to explain... The idiom "on the fence" means to be undecided or neutral about something, particularly when facing a choice between two options. It implies a lack of commitment to either side and a hesitation to make a decision. I've been fortunate enough to visit this place under several different circumstances. My local friends will likely give me shit if they ever read this, but let's be honest, no one reads these. LOL I have been upstairs in the event space with a pre selected menu that was some of the worst food I've had. I'm sure the selections were made by my event planner, but it was the most hodgepodge random food selections ever. Everyone raved about it then and I was like, Huh? You serious? My subsequent visits were regular dine in type visits. All with varying results. Business dinners mostly.... The menu is all over the place as far as selections go. Pizza, sushi, fish, pasta, steaks, are all present. I feel like it's all just A-ok. It's not bad, it's just food if that makes any sense. There is no pizzazz. Nothing has ever really stood out as "wow, that's good". In fact, the toughest, driest fish I have ever had in my life was here. I had to use a steak knife to cut it and I swear it had cheese on it?!?!? WTF I came with the abbreviated UA family last time. C liked her sushi a lot she said, but I did not partake. Lil' A had a pizza and it was maybe the best thing I have had here. The crust was really good. The fries are good. I will get the hot honey pizza myself the next time I come. Chucks Fish, if you are looking for a fun vibe and ambience, it's the place to go! It was so crowded on a Monday night that you would have thought this was the beginning to a Friday weekend ! We were sat upstairs in a super cute corner. We could look down and everything was just buzzing. For us, that is really all we could rave about. We ordered the tuna poke nachos which had barely any tuna on it and was mostly large fried wonton chips with sauce. That was very disappointing because they sounded so good for. Someone in our party ordered a hot honey pizza. They could not finish it because it was too hot. We also ordered a margarita pizza which was fine. Then we ordered some sushi because back home... In St. Louis, we have some really good sushi, restaurants. I can't say that any one up of the 4 we order was outstanding. Nothing really stood out and had a fantastic taste to it. With five of us, we left about half of it on the platter. The reviews for this place are good. To be fair none of us tried any of the fish which on the menu sounded really good. Clearly, it is not a pizza place so in fairness, I can't really mark it on that. Everything was delicious and the service was great. It was a very busy place since graduation from UA was that Saturday and the restaurant opens at 4pm. The drinks were great, the tuna dip app was prefect and each of our main dishes were yummy. The staff were on point and this was not their 1st rodeo with large crowds. From front of the house staff to the kitchen staff are a great team and supporting each other. I was very impressed that everything ran so smoothly and no long waits for drinks, app or our food. This all showed, and I let our waitress know that she and the staff were doing a great job with all the craziness with some of the large crowds celebrating their graduate.
