I am not a trendsetter. Far from it. I had first heard about Chuck's Roadhouse last year. I didn't know about this one in Kitchener until I passed by it to get to one of my favourite submarine sandwich stores, Jersey Mike's. After picking up a sub to bring back to Markham on Labour Day, I hit this Chuck's for lunch. This restaurant is in a huge plaza with lots of parking. I parked at around 1:30 pm on Labour Day and walked in. This location has been around since 2015. I had no idea. Better late than figuring it out a decade later, I suppose. I was greeted by a male staff member and got to sit at a table near the bar. I had a bartender as my server. She was highly efficient. I feel that she would be a good lawyer. She was serious, helpful, and to the point with her questions. I got my usual, which is sirloin steak and lobster, with corn on the cob, mashed potatoes with gravy, and clarified butter. My mashed potato substitution was an extra $2. I felt like comfort food, so I was good. I'd say about ten minutes later, my food came out. Yay! The sirloin steak was done medium well, which was perfect. The lobster was sweet. I am the type who tries getting as much meat out of the tail area as possible. I succeeded, but ended up launching the cleaned-out shell onto the floor. For a flying good time, call me. I love clarified butter. Mine was a bit lumpy, though. I stirred it up and there were still lumps. The flavour was good, though. I continued dunking practically all my food in it. My mashed potatoes with gravy hit the spot. I loved the generous gravy that I got. So good! My corn was done well. The downside was that it was cold. So, my rating is really 3.5 stars. I appreciated how efficient my server was. My cousin, friend and I went here for dinner when we travelled for a weekend away to Kitchener. Unfortunately, this chain is no comparison to the large American chains that it's trying to replicate. I believe my friend and I ordered Chicken Fingers and were both satisfied with our meals. Nothing over the moon fantastic but certainly satisfied our appetite. My cousin's salmon was the real disappointment. It was tiny and not filling, it was also the most expensive dish of the three. The piece that was served paled in comparison to the picture of the meal in the menu! The atmosphere was rowdy and loud. We could barely hear each other and we were as far away from the bar as we could get. The prices were reasonable but they are upfront about extra costs. None of us are overly keen on returning here in the future. But it's nice to see a new chain trying to make its way in Canada! read more

This place has good food for an amazing price. Prices you won't be able to get anywhere else. You can get a piece of steak and lobster tail for $20. Burgers and sandwiches are all around $9. Came here for a co workers retirement dinner and we found out that they do not take reservations. My co worker managed to get them to leave us 2 tables for our dinner but when we got there they only had 1 table for us. They eventually gave us a table in a party room. They also gave us the best server anyone could ask for. Got the spinach and goat cheese dip for app and I loved it. Ordered the T-bone steak and lobster tail and it was only $25. Although my steak was a little burnt on its sides, everything else was great. Got the buckaroo for dessert and it was only $5 and the 2 of us could not even finish that. Well this was our second visit here. For some reason I ordered the fish and chips again.. knowing full well it's your typical frozen pub style.. nice size portion , crispy batter and dry fillet.. I don't like to order burgers in Canada, too dry and need to have it medium.. One thing I will never understand about this place is the long waits while tables sit empty. I asked the guy who I think was the manager and he said the kitchen can't handle all the tables being full?!?!? My first time at this restaurant location. We arrived at lunch hour and the place was not very busy. The place was vast and appeared to be quite clean but my first impression was where is the staff? When we entered there was no one to greet us and the phone was ringing incessantly unanswered. When our server finally appeared our drink order was taken and served promptly. Not so for our food order. It was not until we almost finished our beer when the server took our food order. The meal arrived in good time hot and accurate. Came upon this place while shopping in kitchener. It's like a big bar and grill with low prices. The menu is quite small, and the prices are quite low. The strange thing I found, is they add 3% on to all menu items.. seems kind of redundant considering they could just increase the prices? Onto the food, you get what you pay for. The food is definitely bland, not much flavors. My pulled pork sandwich was not bad, but could have been better. We also got the nachos that have and get this, cheese whiz as the cheese topping.. I honestly couldn't believe it. It was like the cheese they use for nachos at the movie theatre. Yikes. Called and made a reservation for a party of 20 for Saturday, February 2nd at 7pm. All 20 of us arrived and the host said there was no reservation and that they don't take reservations on Fridays or Saturdays. Manager came out and said the same. Our reservation wasn't acknowledged. They told us we would have to wait over an hour for 2 tables of 10 and don't guarantee we will be sitting together. We had people come from out of town and this was for a birthday party. Very disappointed with this restaurant. There was an empty party room, but apparently not enough staff to fill it. Unprofessional. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. So we called State and Main nearby and they took all 20 of us last minute with no hesitation! read more

The food here overall was good when I went. I had a top sirloin steak and the spinach and goat cheese dip. Both generally good dishes. The service was very good though, we had a super nice server! It was weird given our main meals came out before the appetizer, but can't complain about that too much given that the appetizer was good. Went here for the first time, and maybe even the last time. We had to wait about 30 minutes which was fine, although they had no benches anywhere! The people at the front were very nice, and it looked like a family friendly environment. Tip: they give out kids menus and crayons! I had ordered unlimited salad which was outstanding! however, my sister ordered a quesadilla (which she waited 45 minutes for while we all ate our salads/appetizers) with no green onions. The waitress brings it out and guess what it had in it? green onions! My sister politely notified the waitress and she had taken it to the back. when she brings it back, it tastes very spicy, and undercooked unlike the last time my sister was here and ordered the very same thing. Disappointed about that. The waitress was very nice, but she never once came by saying "sorry guys it will just be a few minutes longer for your food" but she did be sure to fill up our salads/drinks without us asking! After the quesadilla incident she acted different to my sister which I wasn't very pleased about. Price was affordable (about $50-$60 for 4 people), I just personally didn't have a great experience. If you are looking for somewhere to go with your kids, I would recommend East Side Mario's, Moose Winoskis, or even Applebee's. I would mention many more before this one! read more

Our service was horrible and the food wasn't any better. The prices here are low but it still isn't worth it. I had a steak (flavourless and over cooked, ended up asking for steak sauce so I could taste something), others at my table had a steak sandwich (a piece of steak drowned in sauce sitting on a bun so small you couldn't possibly pick it up to eat, no toppings), ribs (overly sauced as well) and a burger (so overdone it was black on the outside and desert dry inside). Everyone at the table agreed they would not come back to eat a meal here. As for the service, our server didn't come back after our meals were brought out by runners. I waited for a ridiculous amount of time to get the steak sauce. Everyone was finished eating by the time she came back. Her tone and manner came off as very annoyed right from the start. We did not feel welcome, even the kids were asking what was up with our waitress. The table next to us didn't fare any better. They eventually hunted down a manager to ask for a server. The one good thing I can talk about is the dessert. They have a $5.00 Buckaroo dessert that was huge (3 of us shared one) and delicious. The only reason it's only four stars is becauseTwo out of four of the steaks weren't prepared correctly. A group of 10, bill was almost $145.00. Thought I would go there for a birthday dinner. Wish I had picked almost anywhere else. Had a good experience in Cambridge, so thought we would give Kitchener a try. Quality and quantity poor. Salmon is way over priced for what you get. Chicken strips dry, fries cold and limp. Love your place but on occasion Liza has added a beer I did not order. Caught the bill was adjusted. Today Nov. 22/2019 I ordered some beer and this time I kept track on a coaster and I was billed for 6 beers and my count was 5. She refused as she stated she had run in 6. Paid and left. We were seated after we were given the deer in the headlight look as soon as we got in the door. the menu is just what you expect from any other restaurants around the area ( burger, steaks, chicken strips .... pub style which is ok ) , the prices are good ....but you'll understand why when the plate gets in front of you . The place was almost empty, and I noticed that all of the table that came in after us were already eating, the waitress is no where to be found of course. after few minutes a runner brought the food , it was bland french fries sat under the heating lamp for a while it tasted like your good ol McCain frozen fries cook in the oven, my son had chicken strips ( and trust me they were cooked from frozen ) he didn't even finished it when she asked if he wanted to bring the leftover home he refused, it's hard to screw up chicken strips ......That being said we will not go back even if it is the last place open in town ,we'll stay and eat some frozen dinners I don't have to go to a restaurant for that. read more

I went with my parents, brother and wife to Chuck's Roadhouse recently. We used a coupon so four of us could have the steak with lobster tail for 60 dollars, which is a pretty great deal. Typically the 7 oz sirloin with lobster tail is 20 dollars which also is a pretty reasonable regular price for steak with some lobster. It comes with a cob of corn and fries. It costs extra to upgrade your side, even to a baked potato. The fries are good, so if you don't feel like spending the extra cash to upgrade don't bother. The corn was a little overcooked I'd say. The steak was cooked medium rare like I had asked, but it was really lacking seasoning. Didn't seem like there was much or any salt and/or pepper on it. So you might want to add some from the table... though it's a shame when that is needed. The butter for the lobster seemed to be unsalted. I guess this is good so you can just taste the lobster, but I must not be a purist as I would have loved some salted butter. Would have been great for the corn too. My wife got the salad, which is all you can eat, which is awesome. Though the garden salad had lots of cabbage in it, and she wasn't interested in getting more beyond the first bowl. Overall it was a decent, filling, well priced meal. My only issues is that it's pretty loud in there. It definitely has the vibe of a sports bar, and isn't super well suited for families with small kids. Though the biggest issue was hopefully due to being opened fairly recently. The front of house was a mess where there was always a HUGE group of people waiting to be seated even though there was tons of empty tables available. They didn't seem to have a computerized system. Just a lamented sheet of paper and the mind of one individual trying to keep track. The large group of people at the front waiting made it hard to even get the washroom... It was a disaster for sure. This review is about the chucks road house on Highland ave. On July 17 I had went to the restaurant with my mom. It was busy and we had waited 10 mins for our table which I was with because I knew they were busy. We had then ordered our food and after 47 minutes we finally got it. My mom had ordered a rare steak and she got it well done. On the other hand I had ordered a medium rare steak wrapped in bacon. While eating I found a tooth pic that they forgot to take it and almost cut my mouth on it. I recommend not going to this restaurant. read more

What a joke. Food prices are low but they charge you an honest to goodness fee on your entire bill. I ordered a steak and had to send it back 3 times to be cooked properly. I ended up eating a really gross chicken sandwich. The manager had an attitude and asked me if I wanted a discount. We told him to do what he thought was right. I've been her at least a dozen times. The steaks are ALWAYS cooked as ordered, the staff are attentive and welcome feedback. Liza, who works day shift is always upbeat and attentive in spite of managing a huge room and patio with only one other server, service is still prompt, these aren't servers obsessed with their phones. At night Chris takes over and manages to deal with a gazillion customers and service is prompt in spite of the rush, it's a hit and miss grabbing a spot on the bar rail as they have such good deals and have so many regulars This is a family oriented establishment that is part of the Crabby Joe's franchised conglomerate, prices are great, service is better than Crabby's and the staff make you feel important, big thanks to Jesse and Genisha (hope I spelled that right) for treating me not as a revenue stream but as a friend. So I had heard from a friend (that had been there twice) that Chucks Roadhouse was good food for good prices so my wife and I went to try. She ordered the 7oz sirloin and I ordered the 9oz ribeye. Both came with fries and corn. I didn't have the corn because I had eaten earlier but my wife enjoyed it so next time I will. HP sauce came with meals but I only put sauce on the steak after I try it. My wife always puts it on. I asked for a medium steak and it was cooked perfectly (little pink but no blood). I tried it and didn't need the sauce, it was very tasty. So I would say the food (that night) was very good. My wife had her steak med-well just like she likes and agreed with my opinion and we will go back. The only thing regarding the food was that the server didn't tell us we could upgrade the fries for a baked potato for a small charge, which we will next time. The pricing for the food is excellent. The one thing I will frown on is the service. Lots of empty tables but slow seating. Waitress didn't seem interested and getting our bill was slow so my tip was a little less than usual. I thought of going back on Valentines Day but thought how much slower it would be with more people there so we didn't. If they can get the right persons working there this place could do very well. Me and my boyfriend and his friend came here last night, around 10ish, just before 11pm and it took us about 5 minutes to he seated, the place was almost empty and not that busy at all, I guess they were preparing to close early perhaps? Anyways.. The customer seevice at first was a bit off but then thw guy picked up and ended up giving up wonderful customer service. I was asked first for a drink but wanted a non alcoholic beverage and the guy surprised me with a virgin drink, that satisfied me. The guys had alcohol, of course and mine had a dirty martini and his friend had a Hienekein and didn't enjoy it? Mentioned it was musky / old tasting? I found it odd but that's what he said.. Everything on the menu was very affordable, like Amazing Prices and the quantity is A lot, so you definitely get what you pay for, plus More! We enjoyed the food here more then the drinks but we are only talking about appetizers.. Not mains, but I'll be back again because the prices are way to good, to just not come back and order mains. Anyways.. Here is what we ordered: Buffalo chicken nachos (came with sour cream & salsa) we finished these, to the last bite. All of us! It was so good and I'll be back for these alone, i recommend them! Calamari (came with a vinagrete sauce) it was bite sized and tender! Not chewy at all, I'd order these again as well.. That's all we got, as it was late and we just wanted drinks and apps but the ambiance is very comfortable and laid back and the seating is pretty decent. Brantford CRH went there tonight, asked for a Chardonnay, bartender said they had no white wine, just Rose and Red. Another bartender comes out from kitchen with TWO bottles of Folonari Pino Grigio. I ask bartender for that and he told me that was not Pino Grigio, it was Rose in Folonari Pino Grigio bottles. Isn't that illegal??? And we (2)of us waited 42 minutes for our meal. read more

This is our third time to this Chuck's. After reading several 1 or 2 star reviews I was a little hesitant to go there again. I though about our previous visits and thought that I'm going to give it one more try because 'our' last visits were pretty good. We arrived around 6:00 PM on a Wednesday night so there was no wait time. The hostess let us pick our own table anywhere and sent the Server over right away. The Server was very friendly and while she took our drink order, we told her we were waiting for my Brother. She left the menu's for us to view while we waited. My Brother arrived a couple minutes later and we placed our order... My wife had the Nacho's with pulled Pork and said it was very good. I had the Ribs & Steak combo, with the Steak done Medium and it was perfect. The Ribs had a nice sauce and the meat fell off the bone, very delicious. My Brother had the 10oz Sirloin. He ordered it Medium/Rare and it came a little more than Medium. He said it was kind of chewy. (He should have said something sooner and we could have got a new one). In conclusion, overall our dinner experience was very good. Our Server was very attentive throughout the dinner. Food all hot, fresh and delicious and for the most part cooked properly... even my french fries were hot and fresh. We will return again read more

I eat at Chuck's on a somewhat regular basis. While others have reported poor service, I can boast that I am served by some of the best whether it is Ty, Amanda, Jasmina, Jessica, Angela . . and the list goes on. I had lousy service on my second visit a year a go and they got rid of him quickly. Food is great value for the money. A charbroiled burger for $6.00 with all you can eat salad for $4.00. The steak and lobster - Roast beef - planked salmon are all good. I have had worse steaks at the big-named, big-priced steakhouse in Waterloo. I drink Coors light so the schooner pricing is amazing. The after 9;00 pm pricing - awesome nachos and spin dip. They have changed their fries since they opened - somewhere in head office a decision was made to switch to a cheaper line - they suck - they taste like crap. BAD DECISION. I now have to order onion rings, or baked potato loaded - an OK substitute but changing to these horrid fries was stupid stupid stupid . . . did I mention stupid - THEY SUCK!!!! I think this is illegal and will be taking my receipt down to the police station later in the week. Its similar to a table fee or sitting fee. I had heard some mixed reviews about this place but me and my boyfriend decided we would give it a try. The inside was nicely done. The staff on the other hand were not as great. The bar tender took our order and seemed intoxicated. There were other staff members there that must have been done a shift sitting at a table being extremely loud and running around the bar.. it seemed like it was a staff party that no one else was invited to. The other bartender had 3 drinks lined up for himself on the bar and started drinking right when his shift was done. Very unprofessional staff. The food was mediocre at best . Ribs were not bad for the value. However the service was terrible. 2.5 hrs for dinner. Waiting 35 minutes for a table when they quoted 20 minutes. Ok, you cannot always predict how quickly people will leave. So I'll overlook this. However, then waited 20 minutes to order after we sat down. My wife is gluten free, when she asked for a GF menu, they said "oh we don't have anything gluten free". They did have gluten free options such as salad and nachos without processed cheese, but they didn't connect those dots, They only brought 1/2 the drink orders. Had to ask the manager for the remaining drinks after waiting 15 minutes. They brought out 1 Of 4 appetizers after 30 minutes. Waited another 20 minutes before asking the manager where the remaining apps and our meals were. The manager immediately actioned it and had the remaining food brought out. Unfortunately they made an error with my wife's order. She was so frustrated by this point (2+ hrs in) she sent it back and just asked for a garden salad (gluten free). Most frustrating of all was when we would ask the server about our food she responded "oh I don't know what is going on back there." And walk off. No effort to investigate or rectify the repeated delays and errors. Outside of my wife, the rest of the party reported the food was not bad for the price once it came.
