Took my son for his fourteenth birthday for dinner today. This was a special dinner we had been looking forward too and he was so excited. I have told him for years the Keg makes the best steaks. Our experience ended up being very disappointing. We both ordered striploins. Our steaks were over done and my sons looked grey and terrible on his plate. My piece was covered in fat and tissue not a great cut at all. Our server never came to bite check our meal even though she walked by multiple times. I didn't want to say anything to keep the elusion up for my son on his birthday. All this for the price of $150 for two! I left the restaurant thinking I will never eat there again. read more

Fantastic job navigating a large dinner through covid. Servers and staff where polite friendly and knowledgeable. We where a party of 5 had appetizers, mains and dessert. The calamari was perfect great side sauces and a sharable app. The bread was nice as well. The mushrooms Neptune where a bit dissapointing they where served in snail dishes where very small and more cream cheese then crab. Not a great app to share with a group but cooked well. Mains where cooked nicely we all had a variety of steak and seafood. Steaks where tender but we did wonder if they had mixed up my husband's steak and mine as mine was ordered rare and his medium rare and they where reversed. I had the garlic mashed with crab legs and lobster tail to go with my steak. No complaints on my meal. The gnocchi medley on my husband meal was unfortunately a bit burnt. You can see in the pictures. But overall everyone loved their meals. My in-laws loved the prime rib as well. Desserts where fantastic and huge we tried one of each on the menu Great portions sizes all around we left full! Attentive servers some of the best wait staff I've seen in awhile. I went to this steakhouse for my birthday. We ordered one of the dishes that our server recommended, steak with mushroom sauce alongside a baked potato. We ordered our steaks medium rare but after our first bite, we found that it was welldone. Dry and tough to chew, but the baked potato made up for that as it was very tasty. We also received a complementary chocolate ice cream cake which is always appreciated. It was yum! It was probably my favourite part of the night even though I usually don't like sweets. I probably won't return to this restaurant on my own, but I'd be willing to go for family or friends' special occasions. read more

It was my close friends birthday so we decided to go somewhere nice to celebrate. I haven't had the keg in a while but last time I came I remember their steaks being top notch. Boy I was not disappointed. To start we ordered some garlic cheese toast, super cheesy and a little greasy but delicious LOL. Had a bottle of wine as well which sadly I can't remember which one... (rip) for mains I got the 10oz filet mignon, medium rare. The sauce was creamy and meat was so tender. Everything was cooked to perfection including the vegetables on the side. The mashed potatoes were really good and seasoned very nicely. To top it off, they gave a complimentary cake to my friend which was also delicious. Next time I come I'm saying it's my birthday (just kidding) but the cake is literally to die for. Everything about our meal was perfect and had no complaints. Super disappointed! My husband and I have not had take out / eaten at a restaurant in 2 years due to COVID. This year was our 5 year wedding anniversary. Previous to COVID, we would celebrate every anniversary at the Keg(in person). This year we decided to treat ourselves and finally get some take out calamari from the Keg (one of our favorites). Unfortunately, when we got our take out home, we were VERY disappointed. The Keg is not considered cheap for us, we ordered 2 orders of the calamari ($18/order). When we got it home I was sad to see the extremely skimpy /.small serving size. I was not expecting a whole container full, but jeeze there was like a handful of calamari in each tray. It was also very soggy. For the price of the dish,I expected more.... Just a huge let down after we decided to treat ourselves after 2 years. I won't be ordering takeout again and I likely will not done in again because of the poor experience. read more

This restaurant is one of a small chain located in Canada, with a few select cities in the US. I have visited their Waterloo location several times during business trips. After my first visit, I decided that this restaurant met most of my needs, and from that point forward, I made it the destination place for dinner during each of my trips. I simply think that this is a great restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere is conservatively presented. It has a dark warm appearance. There is a variety of music that is always being presented in the background. If you do not wish to dine in the dining area, you may dine in a bar area, where there are multiple TV monitors located about. During the winter months there is a fireplace with a warm roaring fire to dine near. During the summer, a rather large patio area is available for outside dining. What about the food? Where do I begin? The Prime Rib is excellent. Also the steaks are very good. Even their chicken and salmon is very tasty, especially for a steakhouse. If you like salads, I recommend the Caesar. And finally wonderful well presented desserts are available that include such items as Crème Brulee and a Mini Cherry Cheese Cake. I highly recommend the Mini Lemon Blueberry desert. Hostesses and very friendly, and efficient. It is a restaurant that is memorable and worth returning to multiple times. read more

It was an average experience. The environment is nice and the drink was nice. I ordered one of the white wine and it was great. We all tried out different steaks and I ordered lobster and steak. The lobster was good and the fancy candle with butter was great. But the stead was OVERCOOKED. And it cost me almost 65 dollars in total with tips. I continue to seek-out "The Keg" restaurants in my travels. Simply stated, they are reliable for food, service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. The value is also there making them a mandatory stop in each city I visit which has one. The Waterloo location is no exception. The baseball steak I had on this visit, a new menu addition since my last visit, was seared and seasoned well along with being cooked and rested properly. The wedge salad was also plentiful and satisfying. The twice-baked potato and roasted vegetables, while enjoyable, just weren't up to the level of the other two items but certainly not enough to bring the score down. Service was efficient and friendly and everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. (The prime rib ordered by a colleague looked particularly memorable!) Overall this location is a great representation of the brand and that brand continues to deliver. read more

The only decent restaurant I could find within walking distance from the Sheraton, the Keg was well worth the effort. The wine selection was good, though I would have preferred a few more choices of full bodied reds by the glass. I ordered the prime rib, which is the house specialty I'm told. It was perfect - done rare medium rare to my preference, and not at all overdone. It canes with some zesty horseradish and decadent mushrooms. To finish it off, I had a 10 year tawny port which made the meal almost perfect. (I dined alone, so it would have been better if it wee shared.) The ambience was good - John Legend meets Canadian whiskey. My only complaint is that the 19 year-old hostess tried to seat me in the bar instead of the dining room without bothering to ask my preference. I guess she figured since I was by myself I would rather sip a beer and watch football than actually enjoy some quiet table where I could be away from the TV. Decided to treat myself to a steak dinner and so stopped in to the Keg on Northfield. Was such a nice day I opted for a table on the patio. Friendly and efficient staff escorted me from the bar to the patio when my table was ready. I ordered calamari to start, Caesar salad, and bone in ribeye as my entree. The calamari was excellent with peppers and okra mixed in. The Caesar was a little lack luster but the bone in ribeye was very good and cooked as ordered, rare. The only item served that wasn't very good was the whiskey sour I ordered which was made with a bar mix sour and no garnish. Mixed and served in the same glass....pretty poor cocktail for the price. read more

Well can't complaint about this meal!! Great from start to finish. Started out with baked Brie, wedge salad. My wife and her mom had the baseball steak while I went with the Rib steak! They had one job to do and failed miserably! Very disappointing restaurant. My friend and I went to Keg last night. We ordered Fillet Mignon and Peppercorn New York. We both asked to grill our steaks MEDIUM. My steak was medium well, and my friend's steak was medium rare!!! The Keg is a steakhouse, and one thing the customers must expect from the chef is to know how to grill the steaks MEDIUM. The steaks were neither delicious nor special. I have never been so disappointed in my life. I got the cauliflower streak and it was just a cut of cauliflower grilled and with werid toppings that tasted like it would be better suited on a salad. Absolutely over priced for for what would have cost me $5 to make at home. This branch is definetly one of the best ones I have been too. It wasn't too busy and the atmosphere was amazing. I ordered the blackened sirloin and it was cooked to perfection. It was probably one of the best I have ever had. My husband ordered the new york strip and it was so juicy and flavorful! They have a great wine selection, which any meat lover would appreciate. Well I never thought I would give a keg a 3 star, but here it is. When I attended, the place was pretty buisy, but the service was still fairly reasonable. The waitress I had was new and still in training, but she did a great job. I had ordered the NY peppercorn strip with fries. While waiting for my food, I was treated to a bowl of homemade chips which were delicious, and then their standard bread ( which unfortunately I can't eat ). The food was a little slow coming out, and when I did get it, my steak was a little over done, and not much peppercorn sauce, as far as flavor it was still good. I feel that it they still want to keep their higher prices, they can't let the quality slide. But besides this experience I've always had good luck with the Kegs in the past so I would still recommend trying it. read more

Had a bad experience last Friday. I have been here several times and they had been decent. I usually order a med-rare filet, but last Friend I tried a rare top sirloin and a whole lobster. It has been disappointing. The steak is way overcooked from rare, nearly to med-well. The lobster still has its poop sack within it. After all, I wouldn't recommend this place to other people if they continue to serve like this. I am expecting a better experience at this place, at least to be as good as other Kegs in Toronto. read more

We were here on Sunday for my father in laws birthday, we had a reservation so we were seated right away, and as requested they saved us the table by the fire place. Ryan waited on us and he was very friendly and attentive. I had the caesar salad and the shrimp entree. The salad was tasty, decent size too and the shrimp plate was delicious, try the butter dipping sauce, so good!! I got the vegetable side, which were tasty. Everyone else had steak and really enjoyed their meals. For dessert we had the creme brulee, cheesecake and ice cream pie, every dessert was AMAZING!! I was here 2 days ago and I prefer this location, over the Cambridge location. I wasn't that hungry, so I got French onion soup, which was really good and salty, hehe.. and I got the white fish.. I forgot what it is called on the menu but it is Very Similar to Salmon and had skin on it (crispy).. it came with roasted cherried tomatoes and cauliflower mash.. I tried it for the first time and Not Bad!! It was actually Very delicious and buttery, yummy! I wouldn't order it again though.. I found my fish a bit dry but still good.. I had to add salt and pepper to it, so yeah.. but it is still good. I had a strawberry margarita and it was decent. The customer service here, is way better then the Cambridge location but then again, it's who serves you, so I will more then likely, try the Cambridge location again, but I do prefer this location, so far. read more

One of my favourite places in K-W. Always a good meal, friendly and a great evening. It is expensive, but worth it.

Steaks and grilled selections of some very fine cuts of beef. I've always loved the keg but this is one of the locations that really shines. It gets super busy on Fridays or the weekends but you won't be waiting for too long, maybe about 30 mins or so. The staff is super lovely and helpful to the point where I noticed our waitress was kind enough to recommend many choice cuts to patrons that did not know their steak and ribs well enough to know what to order. The appetizers are delicious and the overall choices for the entire menu is both bountiful and delicious! Would deffo recommend to anyone going on a nice date or wanting to celebrate something. Slightly pricier than a standard food joint but when you consider the amount of steak you get and for the price, then you'll realize it's at most about 2-3$ more than most places, while the quality and flavour is beyond just a few more dollars in cost read more
