A lot of bad reviews here but I actually don't think it's that bad. Mind you I have a very specific reason to stop here, I do it almost every time I drive between Windsor and Toronto. I also usually arrive mid afternoon when the place is quiet so service is always very good. I get the same thing every single time. Burger fries Diet Coke. Call me boring but hey it's a decent burger with a fresh bun and toppings on a nicely grilled albeit previously frozen patty it's consistent I'm never disappointed and it costs less than $15 for all that (maybe a bit more incl tip). We've been regulars at this location almost every weekend, but our recent visit was terrible enough to make us reconsider returning. From the start, our server Claudia V didn't seem to care about our experience. We began ordering by asking for a Chuck's Caesar, then tried to go over the appetizers but she walked away before we finished. When she came back, she brought the Caesar but still didn't ask if we wanted anything else. When we finally ordered the rest of our food, she didn't bother to ask about sides or sauces something servers usually do, We ordered chicken wings, and she never even asked what style or flavour we wanted. Instead, she made the decision herself, and we ended up with plain wings we never asked for. We then had to order sides and sauces separately, which was frustrating and felt like we were inconveniencing her just by asking. At no point did Claudia V ask if we needed anything or check on us during the meal. Overall, her attitude was dismissive and indifferent, which made the entire experience uncomfortable and disappointing. We've never had this kind of treatment before at this Chuck's Roadhouse, and honestly, it ruined our night. We're seriously considering not returning, despite being loyal customers for a long time. Went to thjs location to meet up with family and watch the world cup. had a great experience at this location 2 years ago. Arrived at 4pm, $4 pints, ordered a beer, we would wait till half time to order food. had three beers during the game. glass was empty while we waited for the waitress to come over. Half time was over by the time she asked us for food. Got nachos with beef. They were not as good as they were 2 years ago. End of game we asked for the bill. She came with the bill and had 6 beers on the bill. I told her I had 3 beers not 6, she just walked away and revised the bill without saying a word. paid the bill, left a 15% tip, not 18 to 25%, which was not deserved. after we left I realized she charged us full price for the beers not the $4 dollars before 5pm price. No biggie. But check your bill before you leave. Won't be back at this location, will find another location to meet family in the future. read more

Sat at the bar since I was traveling solo for work. Bar tender was nice and multi tasking well. I did enjoy the 2 large screens they had playing sports on. Food was not good. The bar tender said everything is just out of a box, that's why it's so cheap. Had a grilled chicken sandwich and it tasted like a watery, fake meat. I'm pretty sure they just warmed it up as well. I had lunch today at Chuck's Roadhouse Bar and Grill. I've been to a couple Chuck's and have had delicious meals. I'd been up since 4:30am and hadn't had breakfast and was HUNGRY. Apparently Chuck's are known for their steaks and I ordered the 8oz cut prime rib. I asked that it be cooked medium-well. When it arrived, it was more than well done. The corn was cold on the inside and the potatoes were cold on the outside. The steak was over done. So not a stellar meal. Saturday evening looking for a bite to eat , no place better than the ever popular Chuck's Roadhouse. And it was pretty crowded as we were finally seated after a 20 minute wait. Waitress was prompt and got my girlfriend and I waters right away . I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries . The patty was well done and the bacon definitely added to the taste. The fries were shoestring and a bit soggy and didn't taste bad but nothing really made them stand out. The Heineken beer could have been colder but I finished it . I'll never waste a beer The meal server was pretty rude and dropped the platters on the edge of the table and left like she had better things to do . In short : Food was good Price was great . Yes. Chuck's has good prices on food and drinks but you get what you pay for. We went for the first time with friends. We ordered 3 prime rib and one fish and chips. I must admit the prime rib was very good and cooked to order. The fish was a bit dry and the martini I ordered for $4.00 tasted like soda pop. It was a Saturday night and they don't take reservations so the wait times were excessive. We did get a booth so had a bit of privacy but the noise level was off the charts. Once is probably enough. Neither honest nor good. This feels like a bare bones type of place with a good menu and reasonable prices But on receiving the bill I found a 3% markup described as an "Honest to Goodness Fee". When I inquired about it I was handed a menu and directed to read the very small fine print that does state that the fee will be applied but does not indicate how much. If one is not in the habit of reading legal documents or did not order from the menu one would have no way of knowing about this policy. This seems neither honest nor good. read more

When I am craving a steak and it's quite often I always ask around like I am some sort of steak master. That being said, when I asked my wife if she would like to go to Chucks roadhouse for a good meal-I backed up my idea with the opinions of my friends and family that chucks is very affordable and a great bang for my buck. When my wife and I arrived, we asked to be seated at the dining area of the place - but were told promptly that it was CLOSED! We should be able to seat where we want (the dining area is not as loud as compared to the bar seating) So we sat at the bar, flipped through the menu, and decided that we were ready to order. After the 15 minutes of waiting we got a server and placed our order. (We order about $55 worth of dinner) After waiting 25 minutes we were served our meal. Referencing the pictures and the dishes that were described to us from peers we noticed that the "T-Bone steak" was only about the size of 2 decks of cards.. and the lobster tail was 2 inches long and was not worth the extra $10. We finished the meal and left a fair tip of $5 as we weren't happy with the service or the over rated title of chucks. It was not the epic, memorable, legend that it was made out to be. We placed a large pick-up order to be ready at a precise time selected by the restaurant. The entire parking lot (Richmond St) had been turned into patio seating, so there was no parking except street spots, and we had to dash in the rain. We arrived 10 minutes early and the food was received lukewarm - the bottom of the cardboards container wasn't even warm. The cheesy topping on the fries was solid. Absolutely everything had to be reheated at home (a 3 minute drive). The restaurant was NOT bus, and there was no one else in line for takeout. And that is why I hate tipping in advance. Nice atmosphere/ambiance and huge viewing screens bar side to watch FIFA World Cup matches, which is what we came to do. Great drink specials and decently priced food. I was told last night by the management staff that I was not allowed inside to use the washroom unless I had a mask on...I explained I had a medical condition and couldn't wear one and was running in to the washroom and right back outside to the patio. The manager stopped me on the way out and told me they DO NOT allow anyone in without a mask, even if they have a medical condition and can't wear one they still DONT LET THEM IN. The place wasn't overly packed and almost an hour wait for food. The location in Windsor has much faster service and and the food was warmer. Unfortunately, my family and I did not have a favourable experience at this restaurant. The front staff member that seated us treated us like we were more of a nuisance than patrons. Not good. Secondly, our waitress didn't seem very interested in serving us. Only upon waiting for us to pay with the debit machine did she appear happy to help. Again, we were not impressed. After getting up and walking to the door, with no other customers in sight, leaving or entering, the front staff did not acknowledge our presence. Two adults and a young child. All with fries. All simple orders. The burgers were greasy. Not just "burger greasy", but slippery-greasy. The gravy was so salty that I drank my whole water in one shot after just having a few fries. We approached Chuck's Roadhouse with optimism as we heard it was a new, and upcoming restaurant in London. As it was owned by the same group that manages Crabby's (one of our favorite spots) we were eager to see what the hype was all about. It's a nice place, while I'm not overly fond of the TV's playing darts and NASCAR, it's clean and tastefully done. There is definitely a lack of space at the front doors though. As we were leaving there was a large hoard of people blocking the door because there was no assigned waiting area. People were literally bumping elbows with those sitting at their tables, eating dinner. Our hostess asked if we wanted a booth. We were accompanied by our 20 month old daughter, so we said "Sure, a booth would be fine." When we asked for a highchair, the hostess promptly told she'd offer us a booster seat. "You don't have highchairs?" I asked. "Well, we do, but she would be in everyone's way." Lady, that's not my problem. YOU sat us at this booth. "We'll take a highchair, please." That irked me. Not off to a great start, Chuck's. The waiter (we'll call him A) was prompt and overly preppy. Took our drink orders and returned quickly. We ordered the Cowboy Steak for my husband, the Top Sirloin for myself and the grilled cheese for our daughter. The steaks arrived fairly quickly, we were quite surprised. However, my daughter's grilled cheese never did. And neither did our waiter, A. He disappeared, and didn't bother to check back with us - no drink refills, no asking how things were and if we had everything. Beyond disappointing. He chatted up a few tables beside us...so much for being available should we need him. The Cowboy Steak was extremely fatty and rather undesirable. My husband said his army rations tasted better. My steak was fine; I asked for medium and received medium-rare (which I don't mind as much) if not a little heavy with the peppercorn. The corn was sad and tasteless - maybe frozen? Yuck. The options are limited, I'm afraid. Fries or corn, wow. The staff was busy flitting from table to table, and I get it, it was 5pm on a Friday night and the hoard at the door was getting antsy. Flagging down anyone, let alone our own waiter, was literally impossible. In the end, our daughter never got her meal - we shared ours with her. I'm guessing it was the manager who cleaned our plates off our table? Never announced himself as such. Soon after, our bill arrived and our sheepish waiter, A, claimed he had forgotten our daughter's dinner because he ran out of paper to take orders on. So, I dunno...go get more paper before taking orders? The 3% extra fee added to the bill, is ridiculous. It's reminiscent of that stupid tourist tax in Niagara Falls - literally a cash grab. Considering the service and the food we received, it wasn't warranted. I can forgive the loud music. And although my husband can't, I can forgive the mediocre food. However I cannot forgive a flighty hostess suggesting my daughter would be a hassle, and I certainly can't forgive the fact that my daughter's dinner was so casually forgotten. To say we were disappointed with Chuck's Roadhouse, is an understatement. Maybe they are still working out the kinks of a recent opening? What a shame. Had our waiter took five seconds to check back with us, he would have seen and heard from us that our daughter's dinner never arrived and perhaps he would have righted the situation, thus preventing such a scathing review. Overall not the worst I had. This place tries to bill itself as a discount steakhouse but you'll end up paying the same as anywhere else once you factor in the extra costs. We came to the consensus that we're willing to give it another shot in the future. I really debated between giving this place a 3 or 2 star, but seeing as I had time to write a yelp review while waiting for my bill... The Good: 1) Quality of ingredients weren't bad. The baked potato and beans in particular were good. 2) Nice atmosphere, music wasn't too loud. 3) Service was friendly, if not prompt. Prices were reasonable. Both the food and service are excellent. You definitely get a good amount for the price. Yes, there is the "honest to goodness" fee, but even with the 3% added, most places are more expensive. Especially considering the amount of food you get on your plate. The waiting time is minimal. Will definitely be back. I highly recommend giving this place a chance. read more

Not so at Chuck's Roadhouse. * I try to eat a little healthier. Therefore, instead for fries, I usually get a basic baked potato. A basic baked potato with sour cream costs extra. This is not the "loaded" baked potato that mosts restaurants do charge a little more for, just the basic one. The loaded one at Chuck's is extra on top of the extra. "The Honest to Goodnesses Fee". Yes. There is a fee. 3% of your subtotal is added to your bill before taxes (then you get taxed on that 3%). Don't forget the customary tip than comes after the 3%. I will let the waiter explain it to you instead of me trying to explain it. But there is a 3% charge added to your bill before taxes. There is an explanation on the table. I looked at it, but the print is small and the lighting in the restaurant is dark. I didn't realize what it was saying. I thought it was an advertisement for a hamburger. When talking with management about my opinion about that 3% charge, I used the analogy that it makes me feel like Kathleen Wynn is running the restaurant. When all was said and done, we spent about $20 more at Chuck's Roadhouse than we do when we go out to Swiss Chalet, East Side Mario's, etc. Overall Satisfaction: Well, I paid the bill first then I brought up my concerns with the waiter and management, as I was not trying to get a free meal out of it. I really want this restaurant to succeed, so I thought my opinion may hold more weight if I paid the bill first. Both the waiter and management were open to discussion, my complaints about the food, my opinion about the 3% and my suggestions, which was nice. Nevertheless, this meal was not cheaper than a usual night out for my family and the food, this visit, was not very good. Therefore, only two stars for this review. I will however give Chuck's Roadhouse another try in a few weeks, give them a chance to settle in. There once stood a place called the Outback. One day Outbacks across Canada closed and left this building in London as decrepit as the mall that surrounded it. Another steakhouse failed. A sushi place failed...and in came Chuck's. Chuck's is a small franchise which has had location pop up in Ontario since 2015. I believe it is part of the Crabby Joe's/Coffee Culture group. I've been a few times because it isn't far from my house and I like beer and wings. I agree with other reviewers...the 3% goodness fee is a little shifty and misleading but let's put things into perspective: I can get a pitcher of beer for $11 ($9 on Thursdays), a decent burger and fries for $5 and a striploin for $13. I'm not about to say that it is the best burger or steak I have ever had but both are an exceptional value keeping in mind a big mac is the same price without fries and I could get two of these steaks for the price of one at the Keg. The service is still a little inconsistent but it is still in its infancy so we will see. I have met the owner who remembered me and seems very keen and excited. They have a number of TV and have already had some ticket giveaways. In the end, if you want beer, burgers, steaks or wings (the latter are half price after 9 pm) then you really can't go wrong. If you are looking for waygu beef, craft beer and artisan creations, you can probably find somewhere else in the Mecca of culinary destinations that we call London...just please tell me where. read more
