My boyfriend and I frequent Chumash fairly often. The main reason being the customer service. There are a few people whose names I remember and I apologize to those that I don't at the moment. At the front desk Omar and Richie are wonderful!! We were there a few weeks ago hoping to go to pool early. When we got there the pool was closed for maintenance. I was definitely upset about it but it happens. Although, about 10 minutes after we got to our room, Richie called personally to let us know the pool was reopening because he realized how sad I was about it being closed. All I can say is he absolutely made my day brighter!!! Thank you!! Everyone at the front desk has always been more than kind!! In the sports bar Rosemary and Zachary are always wonderful!! They come by to say hello even if we aren't at their table. And Stephanie seems to always remember us and even knows what tables we enjoy. Although, again; everyone is always very kind. At the pool, Liz and Rachel are who we most often encounter and they are always so sweet. As are the others that work there. All I can really say is the main reason we come back as often as we can is because of the people that work there. You have an amazing staff and I am always grateful for all of them. read more

I don't understand why this casino resort only has 2.5 stars. I stayed here for a weekend with my family for my man's 32nd birthday, and overall it was a good experience. The biggest downside was that it's not kid-friendly at all. I brought my daughter's swim gear thinking we'd hang out at the pool while the rest of my family went to the casino, but the pool is 21+, so that wasn't an option. The only truly kid-friendly spot was the sports bar to eat. I ended up having to get creative and let her play in the shower with her toys and bubbles. Aside from that, the staff was great. very helpful with bringing up our bags and accommodating requests like extra water and pillows. The rooms were nice and comfortable as well. I would definitely come back, but without kids next time so I can actually enjoy the pool (which looked amazing and even had a bar). One thing I did notice was the amount of security in the casino at night, it felt like there was someone at every corner. They also stop serving alcohol at 12am so that was super lame to me because once I was able to put my kids down and come play I only had time for one drink so maybe that's why they don't have a lot of stars read more

It's taking a while to fully or completely remodel being more machines in but it's gotten a lot more to play. I love their graphic lights and carpet. Some people were winning but not me I never win that big here. My mother does so I take her here to play her slots. It's a 2 br drive but enjoyable because of the pch route. read more

The only thing that is open 24 seven if you're going out late with your friends, they have OK food but they have numerous of games you can play. Be worried that this is a smoke in the casino type of establishment so you will smell smoke everywhere you go. read more

My first home actually coming to Chumash to gamble and check it out forreals!! However, it's just decent. The best part is the sports bar and nice steakhouse they have. I feel it's small inside and the process to gamble/ play games is annoying. You have to always enter your card and put the balance every time you go to a new machine. The service is also not good!! It took forever to learn how the shuttles work To go to Solvang. When we did ask no one knew anything!! Security Employees etc. The location is nice and it's only 10-15 minutes from Solvang. It's good to check it out and come. Many in my group won so that's a plus :) Overall 3/5 for me! read more

There's always smoke lingering in the air here - and every casino I've been to - assaulting my nose and threatening me to go on a coughing fit. It reminds me of the smoke-filled haze of the 1990s before smoking indoors was made illegal. Here, I think there are designated smoking areas, but the smell still lingers. You must be 21 years and above to enter, as they sell alcohol. The machines are updated, but are very tight. I could play for 40 bucks for half an hour to an hour years and years ago. Now, that same 40 bucks is "gone in 60 seconds." But the reason why I enjoy coming here is for the Bingo Games. You can spend $30-100 bucks (or more) here and play Bingo for hours. The games usually last a minimum of 4 hours, up to 6 or so. The machine tells you when you win, so I've managed to knit a scarf and watch a movie while I played. Most recently, I've also started playing with the paper pack and daubing as if my life depended on it. I have won some pretty good money playing Bingo. The air is tense as people yearn for their number to be called, and know someone is about to yell BINGO out loud, although you're SO close yourself. It's exhilarating! Please give me a nice hot chocolate and a blanket/jacket while I play BINGO, and my day is complete. So come to Chumash. Inhale and reminisce about the 90s through smoke-filled reminders. So plan ahead & check out their social for any upcoming events. Don't forget to sign up for a players card. That way you earn points when you play, stay or dine here. They have a few players card tiers, depending on how much you accumulate. Im surprised that they actually give out some great gifts. That's if you're one of those that get the promotional gifts. Im still trying to figure out if it's how much you drop or how often you visit smh... Because, Im pretty sure I've been donating here & haven't gotten any gifts recently smdh haha. I haven't stayed at the Resort recently, so I can't comment on that. I did have a good stay several years ago & had access to the pool. That was fun! The casino is looking better than it did. It was our first time visiting here, and it's nice to know we don't have to drive all the way to Vegas to play. The casino is like a maze, and I honestly got lost a couple times. They have a large selection of different games, some of which I've never even seen before. Restrooms are extremely clean and they constantly have somebody cleaning. Casino itself is also pretty clean. Looks like they're going through a remodel right now, so I would love to see it once it's finally complete. This casino is beautiful and has the perfect number of slot machines and table games. They have a nice selection of restaurants to choose from, too. The only thing I did not like was that the security did not know anything when asked a question. All their shuttle bus took a long time to come pick you up. Other than that is cool place. read more

Our first time at Chumash resort, this is actually the first hotel/casino that actually smelled really clean walking and out of the hotel. We were able to check in 2 hours early with no extra charge. The staff were extremely friendly and assisted us right away. The only issue I had was the shower knob, it was very hard to turn, felt like it kept getting stuck. Once again we returned and gave you another shot at redemption. We opted to dine in on a Saturday night. The place was not packed. However there was a 45 minute wait. Why? As far as I can see one were were seated there were over ten tables un used. Three were reserved. My only guess was that y'all were understaffed again on a Saturday night? Sad because the food and drinks here are actually very good. Bummer that you can't get this aspect of the resort right. great casino in Santa Ynez! on the smaller side of casinos I've visited but none the less a nice casino. we loved their sports bar area so many screen tv and yummy food. you can find plenty of bars in the casino as you make your way through. what impressed me the most was that they had water accessible to every guest no need to wait for a server just simply walk to a vending location and grab a bottle!! employees were helpful and friendly. it wasn't until the second day that we discovered there have shuttle services to and from the maverick saloon. which was a huge thing for us to continue the fun. would definitely be back again. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in our beautiful room at Chumash! Lots of special touches within the room such as chocolates, jellybeans, 2 lovely balcony areas, robes, a spacious tub with jets, overhead waterfall spout in the shower, and so much more! Really VIP feel for the room. There are multiple gift shops, a sprawling pool area, eating options, and of course the casino itself. So here's my breakdown for my rating, averaging out my overall experience: The room itself, a five, the Eggington's Restaurant (check out my separate awesome review for them on their page), a five, and the gifts shops, a five. The casino itself...its unfortunately a three for me. There were, what seemed like coolers throughout with water bottles that were complementary, but most were either empty, and/or not chilled. Beverage servers were few and far between. Lots of older machines, along with newer of course, and the main floor is smoking. There was one non-smoking area, but not a great variety of machines. Yes, of course people smoke, but ventilation is not noteworthy here, your clothes and hair will smell (but both the tub and shower in the room work some wonders!). A suggestion, a casino in the Central Valley of California, Table Mountain, when rebuilding, opted to have high ceilings, a non-smoking main floor with a smaller smoking area, and effective ventilation throughout. As I could see Chumash was under a bit of a remodel, I would hope they could address the ventilation and openess of the main casino floor. Though it is a resort, and they have kid's meals in restaurants and kids toys in shops, you must be 21 in order to enter the pool area. Also, under 21 dining options are Eggington's and The Willows, not the newest dining addition. In past years they had a huge, amazing buffet, that welcomed kids, but unfortunately that is no more. So for the overall extra locations to visit at the resort, a three. Obviously it is not a kid vacation spot, I know, but it was nice in the past having the option to take turns visiting the slots and tables, and the kids feeling welcomed as well. Would I visit again, sure! It it just a little more than an hour away from the Pismo/Avila area, and has beautiful room accommodations. Lots of security throughout the property, and comfort, and now knowing the ins and outs, why not stop on by? read more

Smoking is rampant and air filtration is non existent. They care clearly saving a buck by not putting in air filters. This place is nasty!

We stayed at the hotel here while visiting Solvang. The price was affordable and our stay was a pleasant one. As others noted, check in, which starts at 4 was a breeze and the staff was friendly. That was really the extent of our interaction with folks at the hotel. No complaints. The rooms are nice and very spacious! Modern, updated with lots of bedside plug-ins for devices on your nightstand, and new furniture. The bathroom is huge - there's a spacious shower, a double sink, plenty of fresh towels and toiletries. The television though didn't have chromecast, and I couldn't stream Netflix. That was a bummer, but I suppose they want you to spend your time gambling, not binging the new season of Squid Game. We really only walked through the casino to get to the Starbucks. We did not gamble, but all of the games all look modern and updated if that's your thing. My partner noted that they don't do as good a job of filtering and masking the odor of old and new cigarette smoke as they do in Vegas, and I agree. But all of this is to be expected in a casino, and I think I did spot a smoke-free area. Overall, we had a nice stay here, and I would definitely return. read more

I went to Chumash Casino Resort this past Friday and had a great time seeing WAR -- the show was amazing and the overall vibe was fun and lively. The only downside was the women's bathroom next to the stairs. It was closed twice while I was there. The second time, there were only three of us waiting to use the restroom, and we were told to leave because of a medical emergency. I completely understand emergencies happen, but the staff member handling it was very rude -- no "please" or explanation, just telling us to get out. It would have been nice if we were allowed to quickly use the restroom since people were already finishing up, or at least spoken to with a little courtesy. A bit of kindness goes a long way.. never again to me it's ridiculous let people finish up if they're already in the bathroom. I had a look and walk to the other side of the casino just to use the restroom. read more

I admit we have stayed here before. First experience was ok hotel was nice and slots were loose. When I heard they added bubble craps to the games. I wanted to see it for myself. The casino is going through a remodel so I understand the mess. My concerns are the Bubble crap games both crapless and regular craps. Wow...how do they get away with it. Nothing was hitting long session everyone I saw was loosing. I was thinking that I must be mistaken. I tried several time throughout the day and then I tried playing the following day. The worker goes to the back, comes out, and says, "Oh, it doesn't have an expiration date, so we can't honor it." Huh?? It's an active card. I drop thousands gambling. Just because it doesn't have a little date printed doesn't mean it's expired. Y'all advertise tier match, then pull this nonsense? That's false advertising. Do some homework before wasting people's time. It's honestly *pathetic*. Whole experience felt like a joke. Wouldn't come back even if I hit a jackpot. read more

First time and it was fun and Chumash gives first timers $40 on a card to start your winning journey. All the staff were extremely pleasant to deal with and the casino is clean. The non-smoking area was a tiny room (this was the only downside). Upon arrival parking was easy and the shuttle was fantastic and very convenient. First time coming here so we opted for the bus trip. Bus costs $40 and they give you $40 to start the fun in play money. When you get your players card you can then spin a game for more money. Important tip! When you get there, go all the way to the other end of the casino for the no smoking room and you will have a great time. Tip number 2, the Video poker machines are in the back of the no smoking room, and yes, you can actually win big if you play Dueces Wild and Jacks or Better. The restaurants are all upstairs and there is no smoke there either. I will have to do a separate review for the amazing Sports Bar, its actually a bunch of restaurants put together so everyone can get whatever they want, from sushi to tacos to burgers and anything else you can think of. The servers in the restaurants and the players club representatives are all very friendly and helpful, and if you have trouble getting your points to match up with your slots, they will help you out. They recently upgraded the decor which is very clean and simple and very beautiful. The buses have morning or afternoon start times, and, with these gas prices, its worth it to take your time getting there, and Tip number 3 you can drink all you want and not have to drive. read more

We stayed here during our road trip up the coast (PCH). Arrival: self parking was very easy, multiple levels with plenty of spots. Just a quick walk to the hotel entrance. There was also free valet parking, but we just self parked. Check in: very smooth; employees are nice and informative Room: clean, well maintained. There were complimentary water bottles, TV was fast and there were decent channels. Casino: Very much like any typical casino. (if you sign up to be a member (free), you get 30$ in credit to use at any of the machines. Overall, it was affordable, only about 30 minutes off the PCH, clean, and nice! read more

We played at the roulette table for quite some time and then hit up a few penny slots to redeem our losses.. -Cost of food is pretty steep, but the sweet potatoe fries were worth it! Not overwhelmingly sweet and very crispy! -I'm not sure I like the layout of the slot machines alongside the wall or entrance to main floor of casino. Could be a safety issue when everyone crowds the narrow hallway, playing or not. And as soon as you get off the elevator from parking garage, the machines are readily available so I guess that's a plus for the eager gamblers or a last minute stop for those that can't seem to go home on time. -I know casinos are known for their top notch security even the military commends them for it, but why were the card dealers or the managers not wearing any ear pieces? I only noticed one female security guard walking around with an ear piece. Ratio of guards to these gang banging tatted visitors were uneven. Not to stereotype, but you'll know when you see them. Maybe my observation was off and the real guards were dressed incognito. I did see some khaki wearing pants and black collared shirts regulating the alcohol, warning us to finish by 1 a.m. and I think it said security on the back of their shirts? Regulating alcohol consumption and also closing off the food court after 1 a.m. is pretty lame. I think they only have the small cafe near the entrance, which is open 24 hours. Compared to Bay Area or Central Valley casinos, the food court is always open, but not this one. Besides the lacking of the food court hours/ food selection and having physical security, I may come back here and recommend this casino. Stayed for a night. The elevator in the parking garage didn't work. Arrived at when check in was "supposed" to be at 4pm. However, the room was not ready and when asked we were told they couldn't give a time and that they'd call. They were able to take our bags while we walked around. I had to ask, it wasn't volunteered. When I overheard another customer complain that their room was not ready, they were told that check in times are not guaranteed. Anyway, back to the room. We checked back at 5:45pm and they said it was ready. No call or notification. The room was nice enough with a great view of the top of the parking structure. Also, welcoming was a sign listing the prices if you used or took anything in the room--right down to the pen and paper. The casino was smoke filled, but to be expected I suppose. There was a smallish non-smoking room in on the side. Beneficial info that would have been good to know: there are EV parking spots. Not to say there isn't any signage saying do, I just didn't notice any. If you are a hotel guest, valet is complimentary. The sign for that is in the lobby. To be seen after you've parked your car. The sports bar was probably the best feature of the casino. Customer service not so great. read more

I have been here a few times over the years but never spend the night at the hotel until this weekend. I'm pleasantly surprised how nice the rooms area here and how great the customer service is. The casino and the hotel is currently decorated for Christmas and this gives very cozy and fun vibes. I love it. .... My family and I decided to take a short trip to Solvang with the kids and I chose to stay here. We got really good rates and spacious rooms. The valet parking is free for guests which is a big plus. So convenient .... Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. That is a big plus to this casino and hotel. read more
