Like that they provide fridge and microwave
    Roya J.

Simple lodging in the heart of town with a complementary breakfast at a bakery across the street. If not for the breakfast I'd give it three stars. Pros: it was clean, the outside was cute, he room had a refrigerator and microwave, they provided sufficient towels, hairdryer, iron and the bed was fairly comfortable. Cons: for the price, it was very minimal. Only thing they provided was soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Hand lotion would've been nice. Breakfast: some complained about the breakfast, we however enjoyed it. We were offered our selection of danishes, provided bread rolls with butter, jam, and cheese. the drink options were tea, coffee, or juice.

Glow sticks as back up lighting during power outage...

I'll start with this: our room was clean and newly updated. The vouchers for free breakfast at Olsen Bakery across the street were nice. The location was great. And those are the ONLY reasons for two stars. Here are the remaining important details from our stay: I've been traveling to Solvang since I was a kid. It's always been a memorable and nostalgic place for me. I like to stay at different locations when I travel to get a feel for different establishments, and see the town from new angles. This was my first time booking a room here. The room was tiny, the "queen bed" was actually a "full" and extremely uncomfortable. The AC worked great until...THE POWER WENT OUT. The young man who worked the front desk handled all of us disgruntled patrons with grace...so this message is NOT for him, it's for the owners of the business. I learned from a local hotel that these power outages happen EVERY YEAR. Even the city lights, restaurants, cell phone towers and stop lights were out. The food we had was slowly spoiling in the mini fridge, and the tiny room became a furnace. I am six months pregnant and the heatwave was absolutely unbearable. What could the Solvang Inn and Cottages have done about it? Let me tell you. We learned from MULTIPLE local businesses that this should be an expected at this point. Like I mentioned, this apparently happens every year. So, the businesses who care buy back up generators. Several establishments in town have them on deck for this exact event. In fact, it is so anticipated, that the hotel carries glow sticks so you can somewhat see while cooking in your room. Picture attached. We literally had to drive around, and eventually leave town for our cell phones to work, and to frantically look for places with AC, and back up generators. According to California state law, it's illegal to charge people any amount of money if you cannot comply with providing habitable conditions. Via Google: "occupants have a right to habitable hotel conditions, which means the hotel must comply with state and local housing and health codes, including providing essential utilities, proper sanitation, structural soundness, and safety. If these conditions are violated in California, occupants can document the issues, contact local housing or health authorities, or seek legal assistance from tenant rights groups or lawyers to pursue remedies like demanding repairs, withholding rent, or even breaking the agreement. What are Habitable Conditions? Habitability is a legal standard that requires a rental unit to be fit for human occupancy. In a hotel setting, this generally includes: Essential Utilities: Functioning plumbing, heating (especially in cold climates), and electricity." I left our contact information and we have not heard a peep from anyone. Lesson learned. If you plan to go to Solvang during a heatwave, do your homework and ONLY book a room where they care enough to have a generator, such as the Vinland, and many more. Do better Solvang Inn and Cottages.

The Solvang Inn and Cottages motel is an inexpensive option if planning a stay in this quant Danish-themed town. Our room was clean and included amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, free wifi, a coffee maker, and even a daily voucher for a continental breakfast at Olsen's Danish Bakery across the street. Let me begin by noting that we were pleasantly surprised at the site's general condition. Based on its price, we figured our accommodations would be older (and the room was dated by a popcorn ceiling), but the two-bed room we booked was spacious and well maintained with plenty of moving space for my wife's mobility scooter and a tiled step-in shower with good water pressure. The gentleman at the check-in desk was pleasant and courteous - and he even came out to assist me after checking us in. We were able to park right in front of our room - and additional weekday parking was available on site when my brother joined us the next day. Also, the room cleaning service was thorough and left fresh towels despite the fact that we hung our originals up after our morning showers. There's a small pool and gated common area, including a shaded canopy with seating, in the central courtyard. Additionally, though on the western entrance to the town, it's within walking distance to all the shop's restaurants, and local attractions that help define Solvang as both an eating and shopping destination. I'm not sure what the cottages are like (obviously larger), but I can assure you that our motel room with a hit with all of our occupants. Next time we come to Solvang for a visit, we'll happily return to the Solvang Inn and Cottages for another stay!

    Location is wonderful

Great location and very clean. Love the continental breakfast. Warning line gets very long so go early. Room is an ordinary motel style room with separate w/c and shower.

    The 'Motel' feel.

The pictures make this place look a lot better than what it truly is. I was disappointed with this place. Let's see, where should I start? For one, the A/C is terrible. It won't set the temperature below 60 F and when you do, the unit turns on and off for about 10 - 15 seconds at a time. Imagine trying to sleep through that noise all night! On and Off, On and Off. The room never got cold and we (wife and I) kept rolling around the bed and taking off the comforter because it was to warm then too cold when the cold air blast would hit you for the 15 seconds. Two, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Never found the sweet spot. Three, the place looks a little on the ghettoish side. We didn't get good, safe vibes when we arrived. Four, You can hear every conversation of the people walking right outside your room. It's more of a motel than a hotel. You know, rooms that all face the outside with the common outside walkway (See picture). The most painful part of it was that they charged us over $270 for one night. Of course, one night was all we could take.

Great location! The room was quite spacious and very clean. Loved we had a microwave and fridge. The only thing about the room that I knocked a star down for was the bathtub wasn't draining well. It was late when we used it and we only stayed one night so not a big deal. The front desk for check in and out were very friendly. Also, love how they offer a complimentary breakfast at Olsen's. The price is right when staying here!

I read through some of the negative reviews before booking, and honestly, I think they completely missed the mark. This hotel sits right at the beginning of the Solvang strip, and in my opinion, it's the perfect location. You're just steps away from all the shops, restaurants, and even one of the local breweries, but far enough from the center of town that you can actually enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. If you're someone who insists on staying right in the middle of all the action, this may not be the spot for you--but don't expect much quiet over there! The hotel has been newly renovated, and our room was adorable, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond to anything we needed. They truly made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The property itself isn't huge, but they did an excellent job making the most of the space. There's a cute full-service bar with indoor and outdoor seating, a café offering breakfast, pastries, coffee, and a surprisingly good selection of food throughout the day. The lobby also has a convenient grab-and-go market, and outside you'll find a cozy fire pit lounge with games and a relaxing water feature that makes for a great place to unwind in the evening. There isn't a pool, but honestly, that's not why you come to Solvang. If you're looking for outdoor adventures, you're just a short drive from Lake Cachuma and the beach. But let's be real--most people come here for the amazing food, wine, shopping, and the charming Danish village atmosphere, and this hotel puts you close to all of it. I'm actually surprised there aren't more reviews for this property because it was completely sold out during our stay, and now I understand why. Out of the several Hilton properties I stayed at during my trip this week, this one was easily my favorite. Great job to the entire team! You all set the standard for hospitality. Hopefully, the San Francisco Hilton team can take a few notes from you!

It's a super cute Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel in an ideal location -- walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and sights in downtown Solvang, with easy and free self-parking. We were able to use points for a free stay and were pleasantly surprised by every aspect of the stay. The pool area was a highlight, especially with kids. The pool was clean and well maintained, with plenty of towels, umbrellas, loungers, and cabanas available even during the peak afternoon sun. The staff came around with cold waters and Otter Pops for the kids, which was such a thoughtful touch and made it feel a little more special. Our room was clean and modern with plenty of space for our family of four, plus a large patio facing the pool that we really enjoyed. There was some visible water damage in the bathroom, and you can tell that underneath the renovations the property has the bones of an older motel-style building. That said, it's been updated really well and is probably about as nice as you could imagine a hotel of this style being in Solvang. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. Another small detail we loved was the privacy doorbell system on each room rather than having housekeeping knock loudly on the door -- especially nice when traveling with kids. There's also a restaurant connected to the hotel that offers room service and can deliver food right to the pool, which is incredibly convenient when everyone is having too much fun swimming to get dressed and go out. Overall, Hotel Corque hits a really nice balance: cute and upscale without being stuffy, extremely convenient, family-friendly, and right in the heart of Solvang. We'd definitely stay here again.

I am going to let you in on a little secret…read more... Yeah, I'm going to share with you what i THINK is the best kind of getaway, well, at least in my humble opinion. It's the kind that doesn't abruptly end, but it just sort of.... keeps on going. Let me explain. Have you ever gone on vacation and said to yourself, or to your spouse or even to your kids.... "Gee, I could have really used one more night" Or Let out the exaggerated (Ughh)... "I don't want to go back to work tomorrow, I wish we could just extend our trip by just one more day" Well... On a recent trip with my family, We INTENTIONALLY did just that. My wife booked us a 2 night stay in Paso Robles at a beautiful boutique style/chain hotel. (The Ava Hotel in Paso) (Check out my review for the deets) Usually, when we do these short, weekend trips, I work up until the day of our trip and then go back the very next day once we return... But, NOT THIS TIME! Yeah, This time, my wife intentionally told me, let's book one more night on the way home from our trip in Paso just to break up the drive home and enjoy one more day off of work and time with the fam. Heck, I've got loads of PTO and who wants to be at work anyway, so it wasn't too hard to twist my arm on this one. And just like that.... Solvang, Here we Come! Yes, the cute, quaint town of Solvang is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or even just for a one night stay like we did. Of course, my wife, the Queen of finding the best places to stay/eat... (AND I AM THE ONE WHO IS THE "ELITE" haha) booked us a room at the Landsby hotel and it was nothing short of a treat. Here's why: The Landsby is more than just a room... Inside of a hotel... Located in the heart of this Danish town known as: SOLVANG It wasn't just, "let's build a hotel where the people can stay and explore the town while they are here". At least that's not the impression it gave me! Instead, The Landsby has a Charm about, it has Character and most of all it gives you the impression that you are in a modern-day Dutch village. But one of my favorite parts.... The Room Key, keyword, "KEY" Yeah! The room key is an actual Key!!! A metal, lock and key, just like the good 'ol days! Ain't no digital, pre-programmed, modern day, technologically advanced system like every other hotel does it.... And I liked it! And to match the old school style key... The t.v is in black and white, the internet is run on dial up and the telephone is a rotary dial..... JUST KIDDING!!!! But wouldn't that be cool! Aside from the small town European vibe that the exterior of the building gives you, once you step inside both the hotel and then your room, you are immediately transported to a place that feels welcoming, familiar and most of all comfortable. Because this was a short stay (just a one nighter) we didn't take advantage of the amenities like we normally do, but next time we will. A lobby bar (our favorite place to check out), an onsite restaurant (Mad & Vin which loos really good), an outdoor courtyard to sit and relax, and complimentary cruiser bikes to explore the town. The Landsby is Pet friendly, so definitely check out their webpage for details for your furry friends. So....... Now that I've let you in on my little secret, I don't want you to keep it that way! Spread the word! Pass it along! Tell a friend! Come check out the Landsby in Solvang!!

When we got to the room, the smell was awful. It smelled musty and moldy. We opened the window and turned on the air, that helped not one bit. So, we asked for a different room. They accommodated this request quickly, which was great. The hotel advertises electric vehicle charging stations. While this is true, they are NOT the fast charging ones, rather they are the type you install at your house. This means charging can take several hours. Thiscreates an annoying backlog situation - no one is going to sit around for hours while their vehicle charges. Inevitably, you go into town and return when you're ready, at which point your car is either still charging OR it has finished charging, but is now taking up a charger that might be needed. No one is going to run back to the hotel to unplug and move their car. Also, there are only two chargers and they are in the tightest, most inconvenient location in the parking lot. When I opened my trunk to put my bags in, the trunk lid HIT a large pipe running above the parking spot. They need far more chargers installed if they're going to advertise this amenity. When we returned to the hotel on our first evening, we got ZERO sleep. For one, the AC is very, very loud and goes off and on all night. On top of that, and this is what spoiled things actually, a dog in an adjoining room barked loudly ALL NIGHT LONG. It was unbearable. I called the front desk several times, and they didn't really seem to understand the gravity of the situation. They just said yea, it's very frustrating, we're trying to contact the owners, but nothing really resolved. We got no sleep and it was so frustrating. Operating on no sleep, we went out the next day to explore the town. When it got hot in the afternoon hours, we returned to the hotel to relax and get a nap in before dinner. But guess what? MORE DOG BARKING. For hours. And the same spiel from the front desk and management. So, no naps for us. It was beyond frustrating. After all that, the management offered no compensation or anything. They really didn't even address the dog barking except when I made the phone call to the front desk. It was all empty apologies and no action. All in all, it was a frustrating experience and I would hesitate to book there again.

Atterdag Inn - This double bed room is nice & spacious. It was helpful to have a full sized dining table & additional seating options other than the bed

Quaint but quirky - part hotel, part airbnb. A decent (and reasonably priced) last-minute find…read more You check in by key code (no front desk) and have a number to call in case of any problems. We had to call several times: For more towels, for more instant coffee (there's an electric kettle in a small kitchen with a microwave), and to figure out how to work the TV (which had a box literally hanging off of it and dangling down the wall), apparently not an uncommon issue since there's a note saying to call before 9 pm if the TV won't work. We also had to specifically request the breakfast and 2-for-1 wine tasting coupons advertised. That said, each time someone helpfully turned up (or offered to do so). But each time it also felt like the bare minimum (how many towels do you want; how many coffee packets?) Also had ants in the kitchen and had to text several times to get that taken care of; returned to a room smelling like unpleasant disinfectant and ... ants. Room was otherwise clean and cute. Bed was big and comfortable. Sheets / linens somewhat basic but not at all bad. We were in No. 2, which had a nice sitting area and lots of light if you don't mind everyone walking past on the street seeing you. And they kindly moved someone else who was just arriving around so we could stay put for another night and not switch rooms. Surprisingly quiet from the outside, though. Inside, another story. I don't know what they were doing above us - one can only imagine - but it went until well after midnight and started up again around 7 am. Tromping and banging that made our whole room shake a bit. Didn't hear our neighbors to the side or anything from the courtyard (also cute and a nice place to sit in the morning). All this said, I'd recommend, and I'd stay there again. We looked at a few hotels before choosing this one and it was by far nicer than most of them, with bigger rooms and just a better vibe.
