We stayed here for our first time for my husband's birthday. Upon check-in, we were surprised to be upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was FABULOUS! The rooms are well insulated and quiet, the back patio with fire pit was perfect. The heated pool was indeed nice and warm and the bar/restaurant not only had tasty food and drinks but the price point was nice. We were only there for one night, and never left the property in order to enjoy all the amenities. We didn't partake of the mini bar items so I can't speak to the prices, but the selection was amazing! 10/10 recommend read more

We were in Los Olivos doing some wine tasting and decided to finally stop here for dinner since we pass it all the time off the 101 but had never actually tried it. Honestly... we should've just kept driving. When we walked in we were greeted with a blunt "how many?" and then told they'd seat us at a table to accommodate "the big boys." Not exactly the warmest welcome and definitely came off pretty rude. Since there weren't many other options nearby at the time, we decided to stay anyway. Unfortunately the experience didn't really improve from there. The food and drinks were pretty mid at best, and the service throughout the meal wasn't great. The only positive thing I can say is that the space itself is really cute... It's definitely Instagram worthy. But beyond the aesthetics, there wasn't much substance. The whole vibe honestly reminded me of Dick's Last Resort.. except I don't think that was the intention. Will we be back? Definitely not. Next time we'll just keep driving to Santa Maria or AG instead. read more

The nicest part of the place was the Lobby. The woman behind the desk did not get up the entire time she checked us in. There were chairs in front of the desk but we were not invited to sit. She informed us the pool, which was to be opened that day was, in fact, not opening. She informed me we would receive a $25 dollar credit at their restaurant for the inconvenience. This was 1) not adequate on the hottest day of the year, 2) not a restaurant I planned to eat at and 3) the restaurant was mediocre at best. I made a return visit to the desk, hoping to get a more satisfactory compensation and the attendant was indifferent, saying she would pass my disappointment along. She said she sent emails to everyone in the. I received two emails that morning but none stating the pool was closed. The following morning I received a text apologizing for the pool being closed. We booked an upgraded room with a fire pit and patio. Only one love seat for relaxing, we could not invite our friends to enjoy it with us. These rooms are TINY with limited storage. A small coat closet, the bottom halves was a shelf over a mini fridge. I have had bigger roooms in New York City where space is at a premium. There is a self in the bathroom about 4"deep and same under the TV. These are open at the back so things roll off to the floor. There is hardly a flat device to sit anything on and no drawers. The was a tissue holder in the bathroom holding exactly two tissues. I understand my review is colored by the "no pool" thing, however they have really cut the service and room size and sacrificed comfort. They service the room daily. The patio is a nice quiet place to sit. You can see horses and hear birds. I left a pair of glasses and the maid found me chatting in the parking lot to return them. Los Alamos is a cute little town with excellent options for dining. Next time we will chose one of the Inns in town, walking distance to restaurants. read more

Where do I start? This little gem is a short trek north on the 101 or 154 if you're daring like we were. The lobby is filled with great, specially curated merch and sprawling views of the valley. We checked in just before 6pm. We brought our family dog. They let me know he was welcome on leash anywhere on the property except inside the actual pool. He's not a swimmer so perfect. We had dinner by the pool which eventually turned a gorgeous color of blue-purple at night. The stars were plentiful and the moon practically full. The fire pit was a great spot for after dinner. It's a quiet property. There was a rocket launch the next morning and it was too cloudy to see it but could hear it. Parking was terrific. We got a great spot and unloading/loading was a breeze. The staff was terrific. Alex was in the lobby in the morning and kept the coffee pot and half n half full. Gorgeous views and a few hours poolside the morning before headed to Los Alamos for a little browsing. Perfect stay. Highly recommend for a little reset. read more

This "Motel" was such an unexpected surprise! Yes, the rooms are (very!) small, but are also really cute, and they made great use of the space, especially the bathroom, though I would've liked a counter for all of my stuff. For the price (we booked on Hotel Tonight for about $180/night), it's a screaming deal! The property has clearly been recently renovated, the staff is super friendly, it's at the top of a hill, it has an amazing view of the surrounding hills, and it has a cool mid century modern vibe. They have a nice restaurant on the property, and, while we didn't eat there, we did have some cocktails, and they were great. There is no gym, so getting a workout may have to be a hike on many of the nearby trails or a short walk to town to try some of the fantastic food the town has to offer. Bonus: a heated pool and FREE TESLA CHARGERS, and nobody was using them for the two days we were there. Is it the four seasons? No, but I would totally stay there again. read more

We loved everything about our stay! First, I want to address the items that I read in other reviews to clarify: The pool is 21+. For my husband and I (DINKs), this is why we came. No, this is not a very family friendly place, and that's why we came. So if you didn't feel like everyone was super excited to see your kiddos, that's why. We came for the peace. If you are traveling with kids, this is not your spot. The business will probably tell you kids arr welcome, but sensible parents will book elsewhere. No breakfast; the restaurant is open at noon. Bob's Well Bread is a 3 minute drive away, highly recommend. Someone spoke of cleanliness. We didn't have any issues. However, they should put makeup removal wipes in the room because my clean white washcloth did have makeup stains. But the room was clean. Someone complained of the poolside service. Our drinks were about $15-$18 per drink. It is not poolside service, you have to go up to the counter and get it. It's not a big place, so not a big deal. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, maybe book at a full resort. Pros: No kids. Pleasant grown up music playing in public spaces. Really friendly and kind staff. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Gorgeous grounds, well maintained. Great decor in the rooms and public spaces. Community firepit. Cons: Next to 101. Can't do anything about it, but the freeway noise reminds you every second you are outside. There are great private patios in the rooms overlooking the vineyard--right next to the highway. The heated pool is amazing for relaxing--right next to the highway. Again, nothing can be done about it, but anyone considering this for a quiet getaway should know. That is the only downside. Otherwise, for a relaxing grown up getaway, I love this place and I will definitely return. read more

I felt obligated to share this for other families who may be considering this motel. Possibility of bed bugs. We were so looking forward to our stay at the Skyview. Our friends had visited a few weeks prior and highly recommended it to us. The motel is renovated and the views are beautiful. The room decor was cute and the staff were friendly. The motel states that children are welcomed, but the pool is adults only. We didn't mind as the weather wasn't great. Although this should've been our sign that it might've not been the best fit, it was the only motel that had consecutive days available and to be honest, we wanted to stay here because it looked so aesthetically pleasing! This could be a plus or negative depending on your party. We had a two and four yr old and albeit they are fairly well behaved, they are children. We met a few other guests that enjoyed them and were friendly, but the majority was not. It gave us more of a getaway for adults so we didn't feel relaxed and comfortable with our little ones. For this reason we ordered room service. Very unfortunate because we paid a little over $800 for two nights. To top it all off, as I was checking out I overheard a customer discussing a possible issue of bed bugs in their room. The staff seemed to be helpful and accommodating of the situation. I asked if I should be concerned and the staff said that although, they can't discredit any concerns, they don't believe it to be bedbugs. I didn't feel confident in this situation and we took all the necessary precautions just in case. We washed and deep cleaned everything when we returned home and that was entirely too much work for a short stay that wasn't very pleasant to begin with. I had a few items that needed to either be dry cleaned or just thrown into the laundry with the rest and accept that it would get damaged. Another tacked on expense and inconvenience. Again, over $800 for two nights, we expected more. Take this as you will, but I wanted to share our experience for families that may be considering a stay. It was one of those trips that leaves you feeling like you need a vacation from your vacation. We most likely will not be returning. Also would like to share something else we encountered. I guess another family had checked in a day after us and their kids were running about in the courtyard a little after 7AM. The guests next door to us went outside and sternly asked the kids to keep it down as they were trying to sleep. I'm understanding of both parties, but again something to consider. Personally for us, this just validated our feelings for the place. Other notes to consider: - The beds are cloud like. We loved it, until we both woke up with achy backs. We are firm bed people so this may be different for you. - Great parking situation. We have an oversized truck and parking is tricky for us, but we had no issues here. read more

All style absolutely no substance. Anyone with Verizon will get no cell service. That wouldn't be an issue if there was any semblance of reliable Wi-Fi. We Had to give all my family the hotel phone number if needed to get in touch with us because we couldn't reliably get any phone calls. There's no fridge. When went to the front office there would be nobody there. I waited over 30 minutes calling and sitting in person in the office. Ultimately, I needed to walk over to the restaurant and grab an employee there to help me in the front office. Extremely extremely expensive. Would've had a better experience than any other budget hotel. They did have bathrobes made of recycled jeans and antique tequila glasses for purchase in the room.. Beautiful spot right off the 101 in Los Alamos. It certainly has a cool vibe. They're located on top of a little hill which gives you some beautiful views. You'll have to drive up to reception and then back down again so you can go up the other side of the hill to your room. Our room was a little small. Not much room to stretch or do yoga. The bed was firm and comfortable. Shower and bath were clean and really nice. It was rainy and cold on our trip so we made use of the fireplace. It certainly warmed the room up and kept it warm the whole night. There's a restaurant on site. It's convenient but was nothing special. The most memorable part were all the flys in the restaurant. Traveling up the 101 at Los Alamos we would see the mid-Century SkyView Motel. We decided to stay a night. What a treat! It takes you back in time to the 1950's (in a great way). Single level rooms, thoughtfully remodeled and designed. The brochure said sound proof wall snd they were. Didn't hear a sound from the rooms next door. Beautiful central courtyard filled with a fountain, fire pit, and inviting seating areas. There is also a beautiful deck off the reception office with views over the vineyards. Very nice bath supplies. Here's a bit of interesting trivia, THE BEATLES stayed here in room 33. Imagine yourself back in the 50's lounging by the pool with a cocktail reading a fabulous book. The perfect place for the perfect escape. This little Motel has been remodeled wonderfully, with very comfy rooms, a fun desert garden/courtyard area, and the restaurant Norman on property. All the true comforts of home (but on a fancier scale). And so centrally located to all things in Wine Country. We even hiked down to downtown Los Alamos for some incredible baked goods, and picked up a fantastic lunch. Even though tasting rooms in Los Olivos, Solvang, and Buellton are take-away only, we still got to experience talking to the different staff people, as well as a couple winemakers. We definitely will be enjoying the many bottles we purchased. Everyone up in that Valley area are so appreciative of visitors, and it shows. Next time we visit we'll be sure to have our cameras ready, lots of beautiful nature surrounds this cute little Motel. read more

A nice find along the way to SB from up north after our awesome road trip. Upscale boutiquey 1950s motel. Would give this place a 10 stars if there is one! Found it online last minute, one hour before checking in. Priscilla took care of us and made us feel so welcome. Such a sweetheart. The service was excellent and we even received a welcoming rose at the restaurant! Thank you Priscilla. The room is small but beautiful, super clean.. luxe feel. 24 hour service! The only minor complaint- we didn't like the pillows - too thick and firm! Hard to sleep with such high pillows. The views of the property overlooking the wineries are simply spectacular. Had my eye on this spot after seeing friends' post Instagram photos from a recent staycation. Then learned of Bell's Los Alamos (Michelin Star restaurant) nearby, and decided to make a mini-trip from LA! Just as cozy, well appointed, and lovingly decoarted in person as the photos show! Spoke with Mitch via phone prior to the stay and he was so helpful. In person, he ended up being just as helpful- and took photos of us on the deck overlooking the hills! Norman, their bar/restaurant, was lovely and sits poolside, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Breakfast was included (though our only bummer was we did not know this as it was not mentioned by the front desk when we arrived). Menu item I loved was a Yellowtail Crisp of some kind. We had wine outdoor on the deck, lovely view. It was a bit too cold when we stayed to enjoy the benefits of the outdoor shower on our room's patio (we upgraded to this room for that reason), but could not have been more gorgeous to wakeup to cherry blossoms lining our patio deck looking onto verdant green hills. Los Alamos, the small stretch of road which has the shoppes, is actually closed on TUES/WEDS every week. So be aware of this if you book, because we weren't! Cute stay and short drive from LA, a nice sleepy town alternative to driving to Joshua Tree or Palm Springs if you've done that weekend getaway a lot. read more

False advertising, lack of communication, and a general lack of care for the guests. We used to really love this place and have celebrated two separate birthday trips and special occasions here. Unfortunately our latest stay was a sharp downturn from the place we knew and loved. We decided to come for the "stay and dine" package as last time we visited we really enjoyed breakfast on the patio. The "stay and dine" package was advertised as a $50 credit at Norman, which we were excited to use for breakfast. The website says Norman is open for breakfast Monday-Friday, 8-10:30am. However, when we went to the restaurant (during their posted business hours) for breakfast, we were surprised to find it was actually closed. My husband and I are big fans of breakfast and love going to diners- it's sort of our special thing we do. If we had known, we probably would've opted to stay somewhere different. Or if they had informed us, we could've used the credit for some fun cocktails the night before or whatever. It would've been fine if we'd been informed about this, and/or if the website accurately reflected their dining choices & the limitations on the credit. I think the thing that irked me the most is when I let them know their website is out of date, the restaurant is actually closed, and we were unable to use our credit, they gaslit me and said it was "an improved experience to guests". I actually found it to be disappointing. I asked if there was anything else we could do to redeem the credit (maybe some waters at the mini bar) they said no. I would have to say that having up to date website info, and informing your guests accurately about the services/amenities that are available is crucial. Anything else is really false advertising. Side note- they provided the wrong information about our room as well. We were told there was no fridge in our room, but there was one. (They also didn't know the correct code to their own bike locks!) Due to this, I will not be returning here. I'm going with the 5 stars. Kind of a stretch given it was $315 a night on a weeknight. We stayed in the superior room which wasn't that big but can't imagine being in a smaller room. The little patio off the back is super nice and private with a great view. Bathroom and room are nicely renovated and very hip and no need for a larger room unless you have guests visiting but plenty of outdoor spaces to sit and with fire pits. Nice pool with spa vibe but no jacuzzi sadly. The restaurant on property (Normans) is really nice with quality food. Nice little $10 breakfast credit and room has Nespresso Machine which equals higher end experience. Nice little Bluetooth speaker in the room. This Motel is much nicer than most Hotels. read more

We only stayed here for one night in September, but it was wonderful and cozy! I think if you manage your expectations before booking, you'll have a great stay. Is it small? It sure is. (They're updated motel rooms, of course it's not going to be big.) But the rooms are clean, well decorated, and the on-site restaurant was great (thanks Zack). Priscilla was SOOOO welcoming when we checked in! She was lovely and inviting. The person who checked us out wasn't as friendly, but wasn't rude either. It's a quaint place with some charm. If you're looking for something more high and spacious, then maybe this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a weekend getaway in this small town, then I think this is just the place. 4 stars because it is a little pricey, but not by much when you compare prices in the area. read more

My salad today just felt bad. Picture attached. It was $30!!! And it wasn't anything special at all as shown. And it was small. I felt taken. Alcohol is extremely stingy as well. What happened? Doesn't need to be huge but the wine pours are super tiny (the size of a generous tasting maybe). And I ordered an aperol spritz and it was terrible because she was measuring it all out and it ended up not tasting the way it should. But they still charge prices as if they made great food with normal proportions. Finally if your eating at the pool, bring it in a nice tray on a nice pool safe plate and fabric napkins. Paying $30 for this mound of arugula in a cardboard box was not right. Other then that it was consistent. Front desk staff was 5 stars and wonderful service. Bathroom felt a little dirty. An absolute hidden treasure in the valley. The receptionist and manager were so nice! They helped us upgrade to a Deluxe room with an indoor and outdoor fire pit. The king sized bed was very comfortable, and all of the hand soaps and shower stuff was so nice. Although it was cold and rainy, we still tried out the pool which was heated! The only downsides were the super uncomfortable robes and the parking situation. Otherwise everything was wonderful and I can't wait to come back! read more

Stumbled upon this gorgeous Motel on none other than TikTok. Our anniversary was coming up we figured why not. This beautifully renovated motel is everything we expected and more. We arrived 30 min or so before check in, greeted by Lauren who is an absolute sweetheart she made our check in so easy. She was very informative with the motels restaurant, parking and pool hours. She even walked over to our room with a complimentary bottle of champagne which was delightful! The room was gorgeous! Very clean, the decor was creative with a cabin feel to it. The fireplace in the room was a nice touch controlled by a remote. Cable television which is always great. They also have a full snack bar with plenty of snacks and liquor for purchase. I didn't bother checking out the price because I never touch anything in the room that's for sale lol. The patio was so nice, outdoor shower, fire pit and plenty of room to lounge. The restaurant normans was ok we ate breakfast there I had the avocado toast without the egg because I'm plant based. If I could change one thing about the restaurant it would be to offer more plant based options. The restaurant was gorgeous was well very clean, decor was amazing. Staff was also friendly. The pool is located on the patio. I loved was the views and the MOTEL sign it makes it look so unique. The views is social media approved for pictures lol. THIS place !!!! Hidden in a place that I consider so cozy and a place like home. They created a space that feels luxury but at the same time it's so boutique. The attention to detail on things from outside showers to the soaps in the shower. The staff was so friendly at Normans and the food was fresh and creative. We literally just checked out and I couldn't wait to leave this review. Me and my boyfriend end up having last minute getaway and he found this gem. Located in Los Alamos, it's kinda in the middle of nowhere but close to everything. Maybe 15 mins away to mosh wineries, 25 mins to solvang, and 45 to SB. Hotel is beautiful and intimate. It's has about 33 rooms and very well taken care of. Rooms are clean and vibey. It's not very big but good enough for two people and a dog. We had room with fire pit and outdoor shower which was magical. I really want to give special thank you for Pricilla who made our stay absolutely magical. She is an absolute angel on earth. She is the sweetest person ever. She made sure we had everything and more. She makes this place special and reason why we will be back. Thank you Pricilla! We had the best time and feel so refreshed after 2 nights stay! They also dog friendly which is huge plus; our dog loved it here! I can't recommend this place enough! I booked online and made an obvious mistake on the date. When I arrived I was told "I can get you in tonight for same rate", however I paid $299 and she offers me $399. Then I explained the discrepancy and was told "not my fault and there is nothing I can do". Then I asked are you sure I obviously made a mistake and we're here now and want to stay here. She then said "not my fault maybe I can give you 15%off. I obviously made the mistake on the booking date but she was so rude and condescending. I would have paid extra but she smiled and was not willing to try to rectify the mistake at all and seemed to enjoy her power in this situation. Found this amazing gem by chance as I needed a 1 night getaway. Located close enough to LA (where I live) for a night or 2 stay, but a world away in feel and vibe. The motel is small and intimate. Perched on a hill (hence the Skyview name) and surrounded by vineyards and rolling fields full of live oak trees, it really is a beautiful setting. But the best part is the motel itself. It's beautifully landscaped and maintained, with a pool, restaurant/bar, many common area seating areas (even a lovely firepit area with plenty of seating around it). Rooms are very nice- clean, well furnished and true to the 1950's vibe but also modern and fresh. The best thing though is the way the staff treated me. Warm, friendly, and truly invested in the enjoyment of my visit. Very special shout-out to Priscilla. She checked me in and instantly made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She really went the "extra mile" to make sure my stay was special and memorable. Thank you!! This place is a hidden gem!!! I've seen the "motel" sign for years off the 101 but never stayed until now; I'm glad I did! It's a great place, clean, comfortable, great ambience, Covid compliant and great value. - covid-19 protocols: they have an easy to understand system that is compliant to health regulations. - social distancing comfort: plenty of outdoor space for sitting and lounging that is safe yet comfortable. The space lends itself to social distancing - rooms: clean, stylish shower, and very comfy - decor: contemporary take on 50/60s mid century style. - staff: friendly and efficient. - amenities: year-round heated pool, WiFi,fire pit, bicycles, plenty of outdoor seating, - dining: "Norman" their restaurant provides room services, wine and cocktails. We absolutely loved our stay at the Skyview motel. The check in was easy and our room was very clean and updated. We were able to use the pool, and enjoy some munchies while hanging out. The dinner at Norman's restaurant was delicious. The restaurant is also such a cozy place. Finally ended the evening at the firepit with other guests who were very friendly. The next morning we enjoyed the continental breakfast in the restaurant which was a buffet. I am really glad we stayed here and looking forward to returning. read more
