The Hadsten is a decent motel just a short walk from the downtown area of Solvang. The rooms are spacious and have been recently renovated. The bathrooms (single vanity) are large with a nice walk-in shower. There's a coffee/tea service in the room (paper cups). The room lacked a luggage holder. Overall I'd describe the Hadsten as an upscale motel rather than a hotel. Service was perfunctory and not particularly friendly. read more

Terrible value for money, and not in center of town. You have to drive to get central. We paid nearly $400 for one night, and it's just a basic hotel I'd expect to pay $200 tops for - nothing luxurious or unique. Service was terrible. Paid extra $50 for breakfast that ended up just being a bottled juice from concession rack and continental style yogurt, oatmeal, or bagel... unreal. We thought we were getting breakfast at the restaurant when we booked. This should've been free and included.. And it took 25 minutes to scoop the oatmeal and yogurt despite the fact the restaurant was deserted and lots of staff around. A male worker also unlocked and walked straight into our room at 10am, despite us having a do not disturb sign on and check out being 11. Scared my wife and kids.. fortunately everyone was dressed. Place is clean and modern, so that is the good side. Just not anywhere close to being worth the money spent. I fully regret booking this here. read more

Our new go-to hotel for our visits to Solvang! It's a very short distance into downtown and is right next to the liquor store. We were placed on the second floor, in a room with a side room & TV. It was great! Staff was fast when we asked for different pillows & a microwave. The restaurant and bar is a perfect hangout in the afternoon with all the Solvang shops are closed. They also have games like a large connect four and corn hole. Also a gym. If you have a kid, it's nice cause it's right across the way from a children's museum and crafts. In short, cozy hotel with Hilton benefits at the end of the main road, walking distance to everything. We came to Solvang the first weekend of December to enjoy all of the Christmas festivities. We wanted to stay somewhere central that was walking distance to everything in the town. To this end, the Hadsten Solvang worked out great. The hotel is on one side of the town, but you can walk directly across to the other side and back with no problem. I had no trouble finding parking here, and check-in was easy. I am a member of the Hilton honors club, so I was able to do everything, from booking the room, checking in and out all through the app. The hotel itself was nice and cozy. The grounds were clean, as was the room that we checked into. My king bedroom was roomie and everything seemed new and up-to-date. The bathroom was nice, the bed was soft, and they included, complementary waters, and wine that you could purchase as well. The place was great, and I had no complaints, and if/when I return to solving, I will definitely consider this place again. read more

Our room was nice and clean..The shower was amazing. There's a fridge in the room which was convenient. The service was good. The best part is, we went during Christmas and the hotel is walking distance from everything. The light show, shops, the big Christmas tree, and restaurants. There's even a market nearby for snacks and supplies. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar which has better food than Coast Range by the way. The bartender was nice and the service was good. We stayed here almost a month ago now. The accommodations were nice enough. We did encounter a problem with fleas though. They devoured me, about 30 bites all over my feet and legs. Needless to say they moved us to another room and comped our two night stay. Staff and management were friendly and helpful. I would just plead with people, leave your pets at home! This is a human hotel! Clearly someone broke the rules and I paid the price! All you have done is make me hate pet owners that much more. read more

Overall a pleasant stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We asked about the possibility of losing our parking space if we drove to dinner and he offered his parking space if we couldn't find a space upon our return. We asked for more towels upon arrival and they were immediately brought up. The room was clean and comfortable. This is motel property branded by Hilton. It borders one end of the downtown Solvang and the town is walkable from this location. I arrived and checked and was not acknowledged for being an Honors member. I had booked two rooms and was set-up with neighboring rooms which was nice. The rooms were clean and was decorated nicely. I went to a local place for dinner and was not satisfied with the vegetable selection but was happy that the restaurant on-site had asparagus there. There is no pool or hot-tub but they do have a small gym with limited hours. I was able to work-out before they closed. The gym had a treadmill and an elliptical with a dumbbell rack, one bench and a cable machine. The gym does offer complimentary bottles of water for your workout. I was able to check my luggage after check-out so that I could explore the town. Four stars! read more

From the beginning of the trip, reception was very friendly. We went to our corner room and opened the door to a spacious room. Two queen beds on the right and tv/minibar on the left. There are plantation shutters with a window that opens fully and an oversized body length mirror. In front of you is a barn style door. That leads you to inside your oversized bathroom. The countertop is on the left and the toilet with shower to your right. What we thought was a bit odd was that the A/C: Heater was inside the bathroom. Granted, it got cold/warm if you left the bathroom door open but, I've never seen one in the bathroom. The bar is really good. Great bartender. There was a food menu as well. There is a beautiful outside area with seating, corn hole game, and a serene water feature. Also, about a one minute walk is a well stocked market. I'd stay here again!! read more

We recently stayed at the Hadsten for a one night staycation and were disappointed and underwhelmed. It's by far the loudest hotel I've stayed at in town. There is no sound proofing and you're right on the main road so it's very loud, early. Plus lots of sounds from housekeeping which woke us up very early. We had the do not disturb sign on the door and they still knocked at 9:30 AM. Checkout is not until 11 AM. I "picked" my room with online check-in and was put on the complete opposite side of the building and very close to the road. As Hilton Gold members, I was surprised they didn't take our preference into consideration. Marissa at the front desk was very friendly when we arrived. She gave us a packet with lots of 2 for 1 tasting room locations, many of which were walking distance. There's a gorgeous bar and patio, plus free parking onsite! It's a very quick walk to all of the restaurants and shops so you don't have to drive once you're there. The rooms are very clean and modern and I liked the layout of the bathroom. Rooms have a mini fridge, but no safe. There is wine for purchase but I recommend getting something in town for a better price. There are also small water bottles - free for Hilton Honors but $2 for nonmembers. No pool or hot tub, although it looks like the patio is where there might have been these amenities before. I love staying at Hiltons but we probably would not stay here again. We've done a few trips to Solvang and this was by far my least favorite hotel. They are also not dog friendly and many other places in town are. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant and bar, so I would definitely come back to try those since it was beautiful. You can hear and see everything through the sliding barn door. So if you're traveling as a new couple or don't enjoy hearing bodily noises --I do not recommend!! Tapestry = Travesty $400 a night for a motel room. Paper thin walls and the only window looks out on the parking lot. No sunlight and no artificial lights - only two dimly lit lamps. No closet. Literally an open box against the wall with two drawers and a small rod. We were here for a wedding so my gown was crumbled. No iron no ironing board. No makeup mirror. No door to the bathroom - a sliding farm door that came off the rail and trapped me until my husband came back to get me out. I will say the staff was accommodating thus the two stars and not a one star. read more

I've stayed at this hotel twice, and both visits were excellent. It's a high-quality property with a thoughtful design--your door opens directly to the outdoors, which I love. The rooms also have windows that open, so on nice days you can create a refreshing cross-breeze. The bed linens and pillows are very comfortable, and the bathroom, while a bit narrow, is modern and well-appointed. The hotel is relatively quiet, reasonably priced (especially for California), and located in a charming town with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Solid five stars. We actually came to this place before Hilton bought it and updated it. They did a great job in updating and modernizing it. It was charming then, now it's Hilton level charming. While it's a bit sad that the kids don't have the indoor pool to enjoy; they covered it up and converted it into a fun outdoor lounge space. We do love the new way they have utilized the space; a bar with nice areas to lounge and play. Chris who checked me in was friendly and approachable. Great person to be placed in the front to greet guests. Our room was clean and well maintained. The grounds and the whole place are well kept. Overall, we have always loved staying at the Hadsten when we're in Solvang. Its on the outskirts of the town but walking distance enough to shops and restaurants. We love walk from our room, down to Sanger's have some flights of wine and then head over to our dinner. This brand "new" hotel is located in the heart of Solvang. As you enter Solvang from the 101, this hotel is found on the right just as you enter town. This hotel just opened up under the hotel chain after an extensive makeover! The hotel consist of two floors center around the courtyard/lobby. The hotel resembles a motor coach hotel as at one point it probably was. Once you enter the hotel rooms you'll feel the Hilton touch. The rooms were nicely upgraded but not overly fancy. Beds were super comfy. My biggest gripe about the hotel is location to the main road through solvang. This is a blessing and a curse. The location of hotel is central to everything but heavy traffic crosses in front of hotel. Traffic starts early in the morning. The rooms are not sound proof so unless you are a deep sleeper you may want to think twice about the hotel. Pick a room as far away from the main road. The room orientation is a half circle. The other issue is that the hotel does not have a pool. The pool was removed and replaced with a nice courtyard. Off the courtyard there is a nice bar with a secret menu. Lastly the shower are nice looking. I wish the shower had more water pressure and heated up quicker in the morning. Great to have a Hilton in town that matches the surroundings! read more

I really loved my stay at the Hadsten Hotel. The design is beautiful, and I especially loved how the lobby and common areas have been redesigned into a welcoming hub of activity. I didn't get a chance to have a drink at the bar, but the cocktails looked amazing. Our room was spotless with very comfortable bedding, and the staff was friendly very accommodating. Since our room was set back from the road, we didn't hear any traffic noise. We were also there midweek, so the common areas were fairly quiet, though I imagine it could get lively on weekends. The motel-style layout was a refreshing change from the larger hotels we stayed at during our road trip--so convenient for getting luggage in and out. Free parking was also a big plus. Overall, it had some of the charm and feel of a boutique hotel but at a very reasonable price and without a lot of fuss. A couple of quick notes: there's no elevator, so if mobility is a concern, be sure to request a first-floor room. Another review said there was no safe. In our room it was in the nightstand. I was pleasantly impressed with my one night stay here. It does feel like a step up from a motel. Regardless, check in was easy, parking was plenty at the time I was there. There is a bar in the same building where you check in. The location I felt like it was good. Just about everything was accessible by walking. However, the one small thing is when you do try and leaving the hotel, it can be a little tricky getting out depending on the time. I was able to choose the room with the Hilton honors app. I chose the 2nd floor hoping because I knew that if I chose the 1st floor I would hear foot/car traffic. Inside the room was modern and looked nice. The restroom door is a sliding barn door style. To lock the door it didn't quite line up so I had to lift up the door and lock it. The a/c unit was in the bathroom which was interesting. The walls feel like they are thin. Could hear my neighbor whistling and having a phone conversation through out the day. But was quiet at night. Overall, I would stay again. read more

Another perfect score for a hotel. We spent one night in Solvang and booked through hotels.com. We got a room with 2 queens. The hotel is old with charming European traditional design on the outside but modern on the inside. The room was very clean. The beds were soft and I was concerned they would be too soft but 4 of us stayed in this room and all of us slept well. The bathroom was one of my favorite designs. Such a huge shower with rainfall shower head. Loved the amazing citrus smelling body wash and hand washes. Also nice quality linens, towels and bathrobes to use. I love the personal touch of having my name on the TV screen greeting. Best feature of the hotel besides being at the end of the "strip" for Solvang shops was the huge communal outdoor patio and astroturf area. There are lots of sitting areas with fire pits and a lawn area for outdoor lawn games. Inside is a bar that serves drinks until 10:00pm. After exploring the evening walking in Solvang, we were ready for bed about 8:45pm. Our neighbors were quite noisy when entering their room. And then after they got into their room but luckily by 10pm they were quiet. So that was really our only complaint. Had they not quieted down at 10, we would have called the front desk that is there 24 hours. It's a great location. You do not need to drive and park into the Solvang strip from the hotel. In fact with all the crazy pedestrian crowds, I would recommend ONLY walking. We parked at the far end of the Solvang strip and it was difficult to find parking. Next time, we would just walk it. It's about a 3 minute walk to Paula's Pancakes and about a 10 min walk to the far opposite end where The Little Mermaid fountain is. Also, Hilton charge of $3 at check-in that is not a temporary charge and no explanation of what it was. Would stay here again. Highly recommend! read more

The room was very nice and clean. Unfortunately they decided to start cutting metal early in the morning Friday a.m. before 8:00am. Working on outdoor patio of bar. This was in parking lot in front of our room #105....My husband (diamond member) and I were vacationing and hoped to sleep in :( Noticed they were done and gone by 12:00 too so not necessary to wake patrons. As for the breakfast. Ordered the avocado toast. Got a very small piece of toast cut in half with a smear of avocado. Shaved Parmesan in a pile on the side and a very small pile of picked radish. NOTHING like description. Waiter came asked how everything was. I told him my toast was missing tomatoes, his reply, "oh yeah, we ran out.....(then a pause) Do you want something else, like fruit?" I said "yes please." NEVER brought the fruit!!! We couldn't sit on the patio for breakfast due to them working on the patio cover. No apologies or acknowledgement! My husband has been a member of Hilton for years. So most the time we try to find a hotel by Hilton. This place is really nice and has been totally remodeled. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner and a nice bar. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, and the bathroom is beautiful. They even had a nightlight in the bathroom, and the lighting is good for make up. The shower was spacious and had a grab bar. I also love the fact it had a refrigerator. We ended up eating breakfast, and it was extremely reasonable. Our server was Maria and she was friendly and helpful. I had a cappuccino, sausage and sandwich on a croissant. It comes with home fries, and I also added some fruit which was great. You get real cloth napkins, which I like. My husband had the tri-tip burrito and said it was pretty good . If we had more time, I would've eaten dinner there and also had a drink at the bar. read more

Chumash closed the Hadsten House a few years ago and remodeled the whole place. They just reopened and it Looks great. They have a lounge with full bar and dinner service with tasty items. The hotel reopened as a Hilton Tapestry, so you can earn rewards or spend them if you are a Hilton Honors member. If you have family coming to Solvang, it's a home away from home as the team is friendly and customer service is their #1 priority. We had an amazing stay here! We arrived on a Thursday, during the off season of Solvang and the hotel was sparsely occupied which seemed less than 50% of the rooms in the small two story hotel. The entire property, including the guest rooms have been recently renovated with a fresh and modern look. The beds were very comfortable and I loved that the heater/ac unit was tucked in the bathroom because these units can keep me up at night when the fans run all night long. I need a quiet dark place to sleep an the Hadsten had both of those needs met. The property no longer has a swimming pool, which was fine because it was quite cold at night. Instead it has a nice seating area courtyard with games like cornhole, giant Jenga and connect four to entertain yourself with drinks from the adjacent bar or you can just relax by a firepit if you desire. Great feature of this hotel. The fitness facility is modern with all new equipment to burn off those Aebleskiver calories or too many glasses of wine from the night before. Rooms are equipped with a Keurig machine for the morning but if you need more of a pick up, fresh brewed coffee is available in the lobby for limited hours in the morning only, then you need to visit the bar/restaurant. Both the bar and restaurant are open until 10pm, I tried the burger and it was very good. Overall great stay, I hope I get to return again soon. read more

We popped in to the lounge at the Hadsten House recently and it was so fun! Their outdoor area is so perfect for kids to run around while the adults enjoy a beverage. I opted for the Solvang Sunset and it was delicious! Such a beautiful presentation. Their bartenders were really friendly and quick to attend to us. Their decor inside was awesome. This is a Hilton Brand Tapestry collection hotel. It did not disappoint. The outside looks like a Danish building. It is 2 levels and it looks like it used to be a motel/Best Western. The building is U shaped. The entrance to the rooms are outside. I was skeptical because I am used to a hotel where your room is inside within the dwelling. Enter hotel lobby, check in at the front desk, take stairs/elevator to your room. At Hadsten, you check in at the front office/lobby. You head back outside to your room.and you enter your room from the outside like a motel/best western. Once inside, the room is modern with a rustic look The bathroom was modern, has awesome lighting, bright with Gray rustic flooring with a sliding barn door. The windows had big white shudders that you could crack open for sunlight to peek in. Too much shudders? You can open them completely (like french doors) for a full view out of your window. Gold, Diamond and or Platinum members get 2 free small bottles of water with each day you have house keeping. The bar /restaurant is behind the lobby. Behind the bar is an enclosed patio. I read that the patio used to be where the pool was. The area is perfect for large groups. Well lit with pretty strings of light. There are a couple of outdoor games for kids & adults. It was a busy night due to a large party in the patio area. The server did warn me that they're really behind and it was only 2 of them working. He was right because the service was slow as a sloth. I never got my soda refilled. Never got my bill. I had to get up to request it but ended up paying at the bar and leaving. Overall the food offerings were limited with good selection of bar food. Makes sense since there are plenty of places to eat in the Danish village. I have stayed in other hotels in Lompoc and Buellton. Hadsten is by fat the best hotel I have stayed at. It is a farther drive to Vandenberg but worth it. Don't let the Best Western/motel look discourage you. The rooms are beautiful and the bed & pillows are comfortable. Highly recommend getting a room towards the back to avoid the street/car noise or late night tipsy partying people excitement. read more

Our overnight stay during our foray into historic Scandinavian themed Solvang was truly made memorable by staying at The Hadsten Solvang, part of The Hilton's Tapestry Collection. The architecture and design of the low laying hotel blended well into the quaint small town atmosphere, set apart by gracious modern design and well curated amenities. The front desk and welcome area was small but decidedly elegant and modern with an attached bar/cafe that opened up to a spacious courtyard with fire pits, seating and outdoor games, nice! Our room was top nonché with elevate decor and bedding. Best of all the pillow and mattresses were luxuriously plush, a cut above the average Hilton stay. The Hadsten is located just walking distance from all of the Solvang sights and amenities. With the welcoming staff and such a wonderful environment, The Hadsten is definitely a top notch place to stay! read more

From the outside, you'd think this place is a solid 5 stars with the newly renovated decor and modern outdoor areas but looking from the inside, you start to uncover the not so glamorous side of the hotel. The good: - amazing location just at the end of the Solvang Strip. Ideal for travelers who wants some type of privacy and less foot traffic - food selections at the "pantry" .. had cheesecakes, variety of juices and energy drinks, green tea, salads, sandwiches and even poke bowl! So cool. Variety of snacks for purchase like pistachios, haribo, jerky and candies. - outdoor area is very open and relaxing-- perfect ambiance for a glass of wine or intimate chat - like all Hilton, they have digital key but only offer tv room control through the app - convenient and plenty of spaces. We went on Xmas wknd so it's the busiest it can possibly be and had lots of spaces for guests. - love the easy access from car to hotel room as there are many stairs across corners of the property The bad: - extremely thin walls where I can hear all guests on the floor opening and closing their doors and their conversations. You will definitely hear kids running around and we were on the 2nd floor. - noise to where you can't get a good nights sleep - pillow was too high (but this is personal preference) - air con unit was dated and made the room feel "old" and broke the consistency of modern decor - staff is a bit new so I think some may still be training as some of their info was incorrect Total for the room was around $400 for one night but used my Hilton pts to bring down the total so felt like it was OK worthy. To me, I feel like the acceptable total for a room & amenities like this is worth $300 on a Holiday night. Anything else, I feel like it's worth around $200 a night. read more
