It immediately became my go to spot, I get the sesame chicken, add vegetables and cheese wontons it's always super fresh, and high quality!! It's different than the standard greasy heavy breaded chicken than most of the Chinese places, way nicer quality and lightly breaded. The service is always amazing, super nice family owned and ran! My husband and I stopped in recently for lunch while in the area. We really enjoyed it! We had Oolong tea and egg rolls. Both good. The homemade spicy mustard served with the egg rolls was delicious! I ordered the Yu Shiang Chicken and my husband ordered the Yu Shiang Shrimp. Both were spicy dishes and were made to order with a level of spiciness 1-10. Mine of a level 5 and my husband's a level 10. We both enjoyed our dishes. I wish mine had some veggies with it but I just ate some of my husband's vegetables. The woman I assume was the owner was alone in the restaurant, and let me know they were still working on my order. Yes, it was a long wait until the food was ready, but it came out piping hot. I ordered the egg rolls which were epic -- very large, crisp, and packed with meat & veggies. I ordered the shrimp with stir-fried mixed veggies, which was good and filling. People who complain about the service here may not understand it's a husband and wife team and a least recently don't have other help. So be prepared for a long-ish wait if they're dealing with lots of DoorDash orders at the same time you're dining in. But the food is always fresh, no globs of fatty sauces, greens are bright and cooked just right, though could use a bit more depth of spices. The wife/hostess/waitress/bus duty is very nice and charming if you bother to engage with her, but she clearly is working her butt off. This is my Aunt and Uncle's favorite place. read more

I usually get my food to go but sometimes I sit in. They know my order which is awesome I love, love, love the egg rolls. I get the peppered chicken when I go and sometimes get chicken friend rice. Two of my top criteria are the quality of the food and the service. I can forgive some other factors but if one of these two qualities are low, it's unlikely that we will be back. This restaurant scores high on both for me. It seems like the standard choices on most Chinese restaurant menu but it was fresh! Comes out hot and I bet that they prepare each item only when it's ordered. Not sitting in back in a bunch of pots that just get reheated when you order. But of course this means that it's a bit of a wait. It was worth it to me. But if you have to wait, the server better have a lot of personality. And that's the case here. It was crisp and delicate and not the typical thick breading. The sweet and sour sauce was also not obnoxiously sweet, it was good. I ordered the bbq pork for myself. Simply delightful. I liked the brown sauce. But wished chicken was not breaded. The menu lacks description so ask the owner lots of questions or other customers what to order. The duo that runs that place really serves high quality food at decent prices with great service. I have tried several items from them (BBQ beef with snow peas, Governor's Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken) and all of them have been amazing. Chung Ching is an "old school" Chinese restaurant with dark walls and typical decor, so don't go in expecting anything fancy schmancy. This probably won't be found on any Zagat list, but once you try it, you'll think it should. Joyce greets each customer with a friendly yet down-to-business demeanor, and as you sit there, you'll notice a constant barrage of take-out customers coming in to get their dinners for the night. But amazing part is that she calls all of them by name. Chung Ching has been in this College Hill location for over thirty years. EVERYONE knows Joyce and she know just about everyone. It's a great neighborhood eatery that just happens to serve some of the best Chinese food in town. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to recommend any other Asian restaurant before Chung Ching. EVERY dish I've tried there so far (and it's been quite a few), I've loved!!!! This is truly one of Cincinnati's best kept secrets. I was very happy with the Governors Chicken (I think that's what it was called) and the BBQ pork as well as the green beans. Everything is hot and seems pretty fresh. We visited Chung Ching yesterday for lunch. It was a great experience for our group of six. Joyce is the owner & took great care of us. She has worked there for over 37 years! Her personality was really fun & nice to be around. The food was very good & each thing we requested was individually prepared & made at the time of order...even the egg drop soup! The food was flavorful & fresh. The servings were generous in size, & Joyce was unbelievably attentive to taking good care of us. As people came in she seemed to know most of them by name. If I lived here, I'd be back & I have no doubt she'd know me by name. I ordered the Szechuan shrimp. The shrimp was plentiful, fresh, nicely deveined, plump, & accompanied by a great sauce & excellent assorted vegetables. Another person ordered Ma Po Tofu.
