Fresh ingredients including fresh vegetables, made from scratch sauces, and very friendly customer service. I recently moved back to Cincinnati from San Diego, and this place reminds of the excellent Chinese food I used to get out there. I've had really good food here before, but we just ordered and I got Chicken Chow Mein. Just wanted to give people a heads up that their version is just veggies and no noodles. Every picture I google of chow mein has noodles and their's looks nothing like it. I cannot eat what they served. It has no flavor and has a gel like substance on it. The ordering and payment was done online and I didn't mind the small surcharge for online payment, which made the order truly "contactless" during the Corona pandemic. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Shrimp w/ Vegetables, Spring Rolls, Chicken Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon. The food was hot and fresh. They have set up "contactless" pick-up window in their former vestibule that's very clever. I think it would be helpful for the online menu to have a description of the dish, instead of just the name. For example, if the protein is sauteed or batter fried. Whoever the young girl is that is doing deliveries needs to keep her eyes on the road, not her phone. I understand you have a business to run and time is of the essence with deliveries, but she almost ran me over two steps out your front door. Saving 5 seconds in the parking lot isn't going to make or break the customer experience. I have half a mind to call the cops on her for her reckless driving. Even after I walked past her car after she had to slam on the brakes to miss hitting me, she still peeled out kicking up rocks which hit me. My go to for Chinese food, two years and counting. The food here is fresh and delicious! We typically pickup and it's ready in 30 minutes. The one time we ordered delivery, it was 75 minutes before our food made it to the house. That's the only negative experience. The crab rangoons for $4.75 are the best I have. It comes with 8 good sized rangoons, completely full with cream cheese and crab. They include a cup of yummy sweet and sour sauce. We always get the special combination for just under $8. It comes with meat, white or fried rice, spring roll and fortune cookie. The meal always lasts me two days. I've had the General Tso and the Sesame, both are awesome. The general tso isn't spicy at all, if you're into that. This may sound gross but in the past, I've had Chinese chicken that is often grey in color. You'll never find that here. It is always good quality chicken. Taste, portion, service... you can't go wrong here minus the delivery time. read more

They run a tight ship and are extremely busy with delivery orders so the food is 100% made to order and as fresh as it gets! - The atmosphere is a step up from other strip mall joints. - Lunch specials are all $5.75 and includes a meal, fried rice, and a drink! Whhhattt? - Everything is made fresh in house. I asked the owner the recipe for the sweet and sour chicken we ordered because I could not believe how pipping hot and fresh it was and she said they cut and prepare the chicken the night before with spices and just drop each one to order the next day until they run out, and then they do it all over again. - Our total bill with egg rolls, spring rolls (which were delicious btw), two lunches, two drinks was only $16 bucks! SO CHEAP! NEGATIVES: Only one -- I ordered a level 10 on the spice of my General Tso's and it came out a 2. Weak sauce but still incredibly tasty and fresh. FINAL THOUGHT: It's actually really sad that we have become accustomed to bad Chinese food, and we settle because we think that's all there is. 100% a hole-in-the-wall, but Young's is a decidedly fair fix if you're craving Amer-Chinese food. I would strongly suggest takeout rather than dine-in (they do not even offer tap water, you have to buy bottled), since this isn't a spot you come to for fine service or ambiance. I REALLY appreciate that Young's has a "Weight Watchers" menu, i.e., food prepared without salt or fat, and choice of brown or garlic sauce on the side. Usually I avoid Chinese American fare because it hurts my stomach unbearably with all the grease, salt and MSG (and I'm a girl that loves her burgers and fries). But this was a perfectly lovely option to have, and my steamed shrimp and broccoli with carrots was delicious: the shrimp were huge, tender and plentiful (no 3-5 skimpy little pieces). The broccoli and carrots were crisp-tender and colorful and getting to add the sauce on the side to taste was perfect. We went the opposite spectrum with the other entree, my childhood favorite of General Tso's chicken (served with fried rice and an egg roll). This was your typical greasy, satisfyingly flavorful overload of deep-fried sugary-salty American Chinese. The egg roll was mehhhh, not great. I tried several bites of the chicken and can attest to how crunchy, steamy hot and fresh it was. However, my daughter and I both found the sauce to be overwhelmingly sweet, sticky-gluey and jamm-y. Surprisingly, we both preferred MY healthier entree - so I consider that a hugely successful feat for this restaurant. Also, I tried a bowl of the egg drop soup and thought it was one of the best that I've tasted. Overall our 2 entrees, 1 soup and 2 bottled waters totaled $23. This place is just up the road from my sister's new place, and after a long day moving her in, we just needed some quick dinner. Reviews online for this place range from great to awful, so we knew we were taking our chances. She had the cashew chicken combination, which was one of those rectangular takeout dishes evenly split between the fried rice and the entree. She's picky about too many vegetables, and this was a lot of celery and zucchini, plus a scattering of carrots and baby corn. A decent amount of chicken, which you can't always rely on. She said it was fine, nothing special. "A Monday night chicken cashew, not a Saturday night chicken cashew." I got mu shu pork and for the most part was pleasantly surprised. Excellent flavor, the traditional plum sauce, and a substantial portion that will feed me for at least one more meal. The one thing I found odd and off-putting was that they served it with flour tortillas, rather than the mu shu pancakes I expected. It worked, I guess, but it didn't make me happy. read more

Wife and I had this a few nights ago for takeout, just now getting to the review. Food was good, price was right. We both ordered egg drop soup and an egg roll and for entree I ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and my wife had orange chicken. My thoughts: the food was good, but I was not blown away. I enjoyed all of it, but I'd be interested to see how it stacks up against other local takeout joints. I wasn't overly impressed with the egg roll, but the egg drop soup was good. For the entrees they give you a good portion size but I was not impressed with the amount of rice they give. The rice came in a very small styrofoam container and I was hoping for a little more to balance out with the size of the main dish. Overall I was happy with my meal, but I would like to continue my search for that go-to take out food. I would certainly order again if I was in the mood and wanted to play it safe! Don't eat here, especially if you are some variation of vegetarian and/or are allergic to meat products. I asked kindly over the phone to have fried tofu and broccoli prepared- no sauce. Simple enough right? Apparently not. The guy who answered didn't know what to ring on so he asked the kitchen staff who told him homestyle bean curd and vegetables. I said, it isn't really the same thing because that comes with sauce and other vegetables other than broccoli. So, he confirmed that he understood broccoli and tofu only. I go pick up my order and the guy that answered the phone was at the counter. I paid, tipped and he gave me my meal and said "enjoy. I wouldn't, but I'm sure you will"... I leave and then when I get home I realize there is SAUCE on the food when I clearly stated that I wanted none. I go back and the counter guy and kitchen staff member/owner make exchanges. The owner tells me to take the original mess up home and I said I cannot because I am allergic to chicken and know they use chicken broth and bones in their "vegetarian" sauces. They offer to remake it, but the owner then says next time, order steamed tofu and broccoli from the Weight Watchers menu because the sauce comes on the side- just specify that you want the tofu fried. That to me seems counterintuitive and it should be simple enough to convey that a customer only wants fried tofu and broccoli, but duly noted. I get my new food, take it home, and while there is no sauce, there are a bunch of other vegetables and a few pieces of broccoli, which is NOT what I ordered. don't waste your time/money. read more

I am disabled and have ordered from Young's Kitchen for a very long time. My mom was the owner's teacher so we have been very loyal. I called today and tries to order for the lunch special I was told they NO longer do deliver but if I order dinner anytime of the day they would deliver that to me. She also said that they dileliver to disabled for the lunch special after I stated I was disabled but refused to deliver to me. She changed it to just nursing homes. I am a disabled US Air Force Veteran. I require 24hr care, have a ramp and a chair lift I am not able to just go out very disappointed. Don't go!! read more

For a little strip mall Chinese place, they excel definitively. Most Chinese strip mall places have the same suppliers, and heat up the same stuff, they might as well be a chain. Young's doesn't do that. They apparently have their own recipes and kick it up a notch. I've been going on and off for years, and it's always been really good. Usually I stick to "Americanized" Chinese food like General Tso's Chicken and the like. I got the Mu Shu Pork tonight and I was blown away. I couldn't stop eating until it was gone. Not only is this dish a different Chinese eating experience, with 'pancakes' but it was so flavorful and delicious. I was making Mu Shu soft tacos, and digging IN! Trust me, this is a power to be reckoned with. I chewed until my jaw wore out. Good stuff. I have a new go to. You know, when you find a place that is the only place that can scratch that itch? Definitely tops on the list for Chinese food in Cincinnati. The best part about this place is that the food is made fresh to order. You'll have to wait, and that's 100% A-OK with me. This means no chewy, hard as a rock, or cold food will be coming out of this kitchen. The Sweet and Sour chicken is by far the best I've had in the city. They do something smart which is keep the chicken and the sauce separate from each other. This means no soggy chicken. Simply dip (like I do) the individual pieces or pour over when your ready to eat. I've also had the General Tso's Chicken and I can't find much wrong with it at all, except maybe it's not quite spicy enough for my taste, but nothing a little spice from the cupboard can't take care of. They obviously deliver as well though I'm not sure of their delivery area. Overall, this little storefront tucked away from the road isn't on a busy restaurant row or hoppin' area of the city but they pump out some of the best Chinese food in town. read more

I have had the hardest time finding good chinese since moving to Cincinnati. After seeing all the high reviews I thought that this was what I'd been searching for...I was sadly mistaken. I'm not on that side of town too often, so although I saw that most people talked about carry out, my husband and I decided to eat in. It looks like any other strip mall chinese place: small, dim, nothing to write home about. I honestly wasn't surprised by any of those things and that has no effect on my rating. I ordered the general tso's chicken and was super disappointed in the quality of the chicken. It was grisly and unappetizing. The sauce reminded me of the kind you you can buy from the grocery store that is kind of reminiscent of a restaurant, but heavier and not as good. The man that was working, who I believe was the owner or manager, was very nice though. I was turned off by another employee who was talking to that nice man, but it was more like a step below yelling. She just kept asking if he was going to let her be the store manager of his next restaurant. She asked him at least 7 times while we sat there for 30 minutes. I have been a fan of Chinese food for as long as I can remember. When this place first opened up I tried it and was blown away! No Chinese food I have had before or after can match Young's Kitchen. Why is it so good? Many reasons. 1.) Quality and Taste: Everything I have had from here is at such a higher level of quality than your standard Chinese place. The sesame chicken is always soft juicy and tender with perfect sauce thickness and taste. The Crab Rangoon is always flawless and tastes perfect when dipped in the sweet and sour sauce. I have had many things from the menu: sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls, crab rangoon, chicken lo mein, white rice and fried rice. Everything I've had is better than the same item at any other chinese place in terms of taste and quality. 2.) Staff: The staff is very friendly, they remember their regulars and will work with you if you have specific tastes or diet. 3.) Prices are your standard Chinese prices, however with how much higher the quality is I feel your dollar goes so much further hear than other places not to mention very generous portions (I'm always full and I'm a pretty big guy) 4.) Delivery: How can you beat having food coming to your house? When you don't feel like going out Young's Delivers! They are very quick and only charge $1.50 delivery charge. They deliver to the Mount Washington and Anderson Township area. To sum it up anybody who likes Chinese and can should try this place.
