The noodles with beef sirloin changed my life. I could just end it there. Also love the zajiangmian sooo much!! Other favorites are the green beans, general tso's is amazing (might be the best I've ever had), and sometimes I double order the cashew chicken because it's so damn good. I also get the shiitake mushroom with tofu very often, it's so savory and nice. I've never actually eaten in here. But this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the metro area. They actually have 2 menus! One for the casual Asian eater and one that is more authentic. Located in a small strip mall it may be easy to pass over because you can't see it from the road easily. Every item I've ever gotten there is flavorful and fresh. The menu has many options. We had takeout from here the other night. We had 2 egg rolls, 2 sides of rice (white and fried), Mongolian beef, and sesame chicken. First off, the amount of food we got for the price was awesome! With the price of eating out and groceries right now, this place gives you a lot of food for a fair price! Now onto the taste, the egg rolls, sesame chicken, and fried rice were all 10/10 amazing! The Mongolian beef and white rice were a solid 7/10! We will have to eat here in person to check out the service and ambiance of the restaurant! The restaurant is small, but clean. The bathroom was clean, which I always appreciate. The waiter was okay, but not super friendly. He steered my daughter away from ordering the mini hot pot because he said it would be too spicy. She ordered chicken with garlic sauce from the Chinese menu. It was tasty and had a slight amount of spice. She ended up disappointed that she didn't get the hotpot, even though she did like her chicken dish. Her boyfriend ordered pepper chicken. I didn't try this one, but he really enjoyed it. I wasn't in the mood for jalapeño flavor, and it was covered in jalapeños. For myself I ordered sliced ear, bo-bo beef, and dry chili chicken. I was also warned that the bo-bo chicken would be very spicy. I sperically told him I love spicy food and I know I can handle it. I even mentioned that I didn't find the food in India spicy at all. The sliced ear was very tasty. My daughter liked the flavor, but not the texture. The outer portion has a texture similar to tendon, which was fine with her, but the rest was more like cartilage. I loved both textures personally. The dry chili chicken was perfectly cooked, although I could have handled some extra chilis in it. It was crispy and tender though. The bo-bo beef? Honestly, I did not find it overly spicy. It was spicy, but not what o would consider a 3/5. I didn't even feel a need for any type of drink during the meal. When the waiter asked me how was the spice. I had to tell him that I expected more. The dish though was delicious. The beef was the most tender beef o have ever tried. It has zucchini in it, which I love. Very good. The question is, do I just have that high of a spice tolerance, or did they give me "white girl" spicy? I seriously think it must have been less spicy than normal. I didn't even break a sweat and barely had a runny nose. Overall, it was very good. The portions were a good size. I went here specifically because if I could eat here I would be the Queen of Spicy in the Dayton area. I still don't know if I earned that crown. The spice level and the waiter not really believing me almost got them a 3, if I could do 3.5 I would. I know there are people that order it spicy and then they want to have it remade, so I'm not totally upset about the attitude. We had been to the Menards In Evendale, then decided to stop for a late lunch at Sichuan Chili. Their food is incredibly good - I traveled through China on business so I know the real thing. My wife ordered shrimp lo mein, I got a deep-fried seafood (shrimp and scallops). Both excellent. I nibbled on one of the deep-fried red chili peppers and found it had a delicious nutty flavor. The service was friendly, accurate and prompt. The helpings were abundant - we both needed to-go boxes, which this lovely kind lady insisted on filling, which was so nice and helpful. It's been a while since we've been here and even after my last review 7 years ago this place doesn't disappoint. I'm also super excited that they managed to keep the prices almost the same despite inflation and every other restaurant in town upping prices like crazy. Still the same great service and great food. Had our go to wontons in chili oil then the staple Sichuan fried fish fillets. We added some spicy eggplant in garlic sauce and ma po tofu which they have with or without (vegetarian) pork. I love me a good Szechuan restaurant. So far this is the second city I've moved to (and that's not counting where I am originally from) and I'm always in search of a good Szechuan restaurant. I found this restaurant on Yelp because it had really good ratings so I had bookmarked it and needed to come here. My husband and I came here for a nice low key birthday celebration and it was nice. I would definitely call this an authentic Szechuan restaurant because it has two menus. One menu is the American menu and the second menu is the Szechuan menu. We ordered from the Szechuan menu only because I'm in search of a really good twice cooked pork dish. It's literally my favorite Szechuan dish. We ordered three dishes and they were... Twice cooked pork, this was probably our favorite dish out of the three that we had ordered. It was pretty good but the only thing I wish was that it was actually spicy. My husband enjoyed it because it wasn't spicy for him and he's not a person who tolerates spice very well so it was the perfect amount for him. But for me I would have loved a little bit more of a kick. Pork was tender and flavors were good. Braised beef brisket in soy sauce, I actually really enjoyed this dish because the beef was really tender and that deep soy sauce flavor was really good. Not a lot of people like tendons in their dish, but I actually really enjoyed it because it's actually really good for you health-wise. My husband on the other hand said that the flavor was just okay to him he thought it was a bit different. Green beans, I feel like at any Chinese restaurant you have to order the green beans because green beans are just so good especially Szechuan style. The green beans here were just okay. It lacked a little flavor and saltiness. But I would recommend this dish if you're new to Szechuan. Overall it was a good experience, the customer service was really nice and incredibly attentive. Found out it's just located beside CAM, so we came early, did some shopping in CAM, then walk in the restaurant around 5:30pm, guess dinner time is not started yet, we are the 1st group to arrive! Got some lunch with a friend after dropping off my laptop at microcenter (this place is super close just for everyones reference). We got the crab rangoons which came out pipping hot and while the filling was a little gooier than I am used to - it was delicious. We both got dan dan noodles and while they were okay, I feel like they were lacking that peanut flavor I associate with dan dan noodles. They were also a little oilier than I prefer, although I will say I did eat them all and just added some peanut butter to my leftovers. We also got some sweet potato little rice desserts which I liked a lot - they had a similar texture to mochi. I would definitely try this place again and try another entree, especially for their dumplings with chili oil that were sold out. read more

RUN! Don't walk here. MY GOD this place has the best food I've ever had in Cincinnati. There are about 15 tables and two servers. This place is a well oiled machine and everyone knows what to do. Sichuan chili has been our go- to for great food over the past 9 years! We are known by the friendly staff there and always receive delicious food and great service. Today, we had many of our usuals. The red dry chili fish fillet was, as always, hot, crispy, and flavorful. We also had the Sichuan tengjiao chicken. I love the pickled vegetables and the black peppercorns in the dish which add layers of flavor to the chili oil. Finally, we had the pork and egg in soy sauce. This is a great dish for those who don't tolerate spicy food but want something that isn't boring. The rich sauce and fatty pork belly are positively decadent! This suburban Chinese joint offers what I really want in life: spicy vegetarian food. They promise Sichuan style cuisine, which when done properly has a lot of bright red chili, but also a variety of bitter and astringent herbs. They had a wide and appealing menu, but I went ahead and tried a mapo tofu because that's the archetypical dish. And I found it drowning in oil (as it should be), with a variety of spices on top. It's comfort food. Tofu with mustard greens was fried and sharply sour, where as my dry tofu with numbing spice and peanuts delivered another contrasting flavor. And while I do like well-prepared tofu they certainly had other vegetable dishes (with vegan notated on their menu) as well as some more typical American Chinese and less spicy options. They have a 100% takeout set up with a walled off kitchen and a little door they built to hand out food through. Mine was ready promptly, and lasted for several satisfying meals. The suggestion I would have for them (and for a lot of Chinese places) is to have some more alternatives to white rice, as I would happily take brown rice or noodles or vegetables instead. read more

"Go beyond your Americanized distortions of Chinese food: your insipid Stir-Fried Rices, your silly General Tzo's Chicken," he challenged us all.. Stop whining about what you've never tried, open your mind and your mouth, and just for once, out of respect, try the heat, he taught us. This Evendale strip mall storefront mom and pop is imho "Sichuan Gold" for novice and experienced star Anise-lovers alike. Notice what layers and combinations of earthy and floral flavors unfold with Sichuan peppers--if you try them. Here's my unsolicited advice to the sadly Americanized Chinese rank and file who might be secretly hankering to step up and try big-boy, real-deal Sichuan: 1. Leave your wife and kids at home. Take a brave-hearted food buddy with you. 2. Do not take the American Chinese menu the waiter will hand you if you're a rookie. Leave and go down the street to Panda Express if you must. 3 Ask for the separate Sichuan menu. Look like you know what you're doing. 4. Confidently point to and order one of the three "Sizzling Sichuan" mainstays: Chicken, Beef or, gasp, Lamb. 5. Pay no attention to those silly little red peppers beside the item on the menu, or if the waiter sizes you up and reminds you how terribly spicy and scary these dishes are to most Americans. 6. Remember, you will not die. 7. Prepare to have your mind blown. After the first rush of heat ascends thru your mouth, nose and head, notice please that in fact you are still among the living, and that you can ACTUALLY TASTE NEW FLAVORS--like the intense earthy and floral notes unfolding upstairs in your brain with each bite of meats seared perfectly with star anise, red and green Szechuan peppers and other Asian mysteries. Welcome to Sichuan Heaven, hope you like the place. I'm working my way thru the menu. Mostly I'm solo cause my wife finds it too much for her Scandinavian sensibility. I am however thrilled and amazed each time. Their signature Dan Dan noodles are celestial and highly addictive. Tonight I went wild and asked the guy behind the cash register to recommend something beyond the Sizzling Holy Trinity mentioned above. He ordered me up Sichuan Dry Stir Fried Fish. It was out of this world, swimming in crispy veggie and fish oil goodnesses which put me in mind of Chef Anthony Bourdain of Blessed Memory's epic challenge to us all to get outta our culinary comfort zones and try something magical. A truly all-purpose Chinese restaurant that takes pandemic concerns seriously. They have closed all in restaurant dining and passes takeout meals through a Jerry rigged counter portal. Safety first for customers and the staff. Also, a great value with large portions and most dishes costing still in the low teens. We like spicy food so we ordered 2 spicy dishes: mapo tofu and sichuan style fish filets, and 2 noodle dishes: beef chow fun and Singapore fried rice noodles. The heat level on the spicy dishes was 4 on a scale of 5, leaving a nice tingle on the tongue. Also, plenty of spicy sauce to flavor the white rice. The noodle dishes were above average, but were sizable. Feeding 4 people with enough food for a couple of leftover lunches for under $50 is quite an accomplishment. One of my best friends in grad school was from Shanghai, and Sichuan Chili was easily her favorite place to go in the Cincy area when she wanted food that reminded her of home. I feel like that speaks volumes. I would sit on my side of the table silent while my friend and the server spoke in Chinese, and not once did I ever doubt her order In our two years of grad school, we came here probably ~50 times, and not once did we have a bad experience. We never ordered American Chinese food, so I can't comment on that, but their more authentic dishes were absolutely amazing and truly spicy as we both love. The cumin lamb (or beef) was the one dish I had to order every single time--super spicy, and it comes out sizzling hot. It never disappoints! I also recommend the shareable fish stew that comes out with a burner underneath to keep it simmering. We also routinely rotated adding Chinese eggplant, bean curd, tofu, and jellyfish to our main entrees! More adventurous eaters not sensitive to texture should absolutely experiment with pushing their food horizon; I promise you won't regret it! Also, parking is always a breeze (unlike most OTR restaurants), and the service was always prompt and polite.
