If you're looking for a classier hole in the wall, this is your place. A more mature crowd, no fuss or ruckus at all. The music was amazing when I went, but I'm told it's not always the same. So maybe do your research. I'm from out of town so I'm not familiar with the local talent. There was no food to my knowledge. But the drinks were on point and the service was great. We ordered cognac French 75s and their champagne choice was in single serve bottles. So it was like we got a 2-4-1. They were out of a lot of cigars but it was a very busy night. Plus I think we made good choices. I'd absolutely go back and absolutely recommend it. I saw a few other reviews and honestly, I've been a bartender for over a decade at various venues and events. Don't waste your time if you are visiting this place on game day. This is not the Churchill I knew years ago. Expecting the LSU game and Southern University too be on the screen, was informed they are having technical issues. Also no ambiance of music after 5 pm on a weekday that I have visited. Looked like an intriguing concept, and I decided to visit while I was in town on business. Unfortunately, the bartender was completely focused on looking at her phone and chatting with what were probably regulars. I was ready for 3 martinis (Gibsons actually- but they did not have cocktail onions- how hard are they to stock?) but could not get her attention for drink #2. Had to walk over to the register to close the check and leave. I would have gotten a cigar and had a $50+ tab. What really killed it for me was there is an automatic 20% tip added automatically. I was planning on leaving a 5% tip. Places like this are all about service, a positive customer vibe, and feeling welcome when you are visiting from out of town. However, I did not expect to be charged an exuberant (a $10 up-charge) amount for a French 75 that was incorrectly made at a place that is known in the BR area as a "cigar lounge bar." Their so called French 75 was merely a glass of champagne and gin. If anything, I expected this bar's bartenders to knowingly make a French 75, a classic American & Louisiana native drink with four ingredients. But....considering it was a cigar bar I guess that's not such a horrible thing. It's a pretty cool spot for a night out though. They have a store up front where you can purchase anything from hard liquor to wine and cigarillos to cigars dipped in bourbon. They are more than happy to suggest the cigar option for your liking. Great environment to relax and chill with friends. They have 2 bars and an area to purchase cigars of every flavor and size to your liking. They serve food. I ate the bleau burger with chips and it was really tasty!! Obviously the place is really smoky . I would suggest they have an outside area as well. I'm not a smoker. Management needs to take accountability when mistakes happen. A friend of mine visited here recently and the bartender (Laikyn) stole an additional $5 in tips on top of the 20% gratuity and $1 tip left to her. When my friend went to the establishment to inform the manager, he came up with excuses instead of apologizing and then proceeded to lie on Facebook and say it was a pre-authorization charge. When my friend commented a video with audio from her banker saying it was indeed NOT a pre authorization charge under their post, the business blocked her on Facebook. It's not about the amount of the charge but the dishonesty associated with it. A bartender stole from a customer and all management had to tell my friend was "don't come back when she's here". Ha! I stumbled upon this place on the suggestion of a bartender at a nice restaurant. It was a great recommendation. I went to check it out, and had a great time hanging out listening to a jazz/funk band they had playing live. The ambiance is great as well as the setting. I'm a big fan of Scotch/Whiskey so that was big perk. I also partake in the occasional cigar (very rarely) so it's nice to know there's a place to go for that. I did deduct one star because obviously you will come out smelling like smoke. I'm not sure whether or not that requires a star deduction since obviously it's also a cigar bar, but I did get into my car the next day and it smelled like smoke (I don't smoke in my car) from my drive home the night before. They do have some new looking machines on the ceiling that do a decent job of removing the smoke though. The scotch/whiskey prices were fair in my opinion. But I am comparing them to Austin and Houston prices which tend to be on the steep side. In fact I'm sure I'll be returning frequently to enjoy a night cap. Great place to go even if one time to check out. Will be one of my go to spots when I'm in town. read more

It's a bit divey, but still a little classy in a speak easy kinda way. It's a cigar lounge in the truest form, kinda like what I would like in California where I can order a bourbon and have it served to me by a pretty waitress. . . same thing in CA except no waitress and no booze... so when I found myself in Baton Rouge I couldn't help but come here and share in the awesomeness that is a Cigar and Whiskey. It's open late and they have a great variety of cigars and drinks - They have the classics of cigars - macundos, cohiba's and the like, as well as the smaller batches -brickhouse and gurkhas, and their bar is nothing to slouch at, whatever they sell out front they have in back. Only downside, kids. In the truest form of it's a college town with a lot of nothing to do, they find themselves here in groups and the annoying thing is how loud and obnoxious they are - I'm a bit judgy when it comes to people who come to these kinds of establishment that don't get what they're doing - this isn't a "sports bar" it's a cigar lounge - maybe they can establish a dress code or age limit. This of course will not deter me from going back here, but if there's a group like that I may not stay as long as I'd like. Enjoy! read more

This would not be my favorite place! I order a Blue cheese Burger Med came out over cooked! And it took 20 min more then my husband's order because the cook told us couldnt fine the blue cheese! I hate to tell him he never did find it! It came out with a white melted cheese on it was not blue cheese! And the bartender, was to busy serving herself at the end of the bar doing shots with the costumers! and it was only 6pm! And the burger were frozen not fresh, It's not a surprise that they don't put Prices on their menu! Not worth it!!! I'm from Oklahoma City. I have smoked cigars from DC to Del Rio and from Oregon to Mississippi. At the Cigar Box here in OKC and every other cigar establishment I have been too across America, the guy behind the counter always gives a patron personal attention in the selection of their cigars inside the humidor. They want your cigar and experience to be great so you will come back; ESPECIALLY if it is your FIRST cigar. I went to Churchill's 1/19/14 and the service was excellent and the facility itself was top notch. The guy at the desk asked me if I had been to Churchill's before and personally led me to the cigars I told him that I preferred. I had a Camacho 2014 Liberty. A friend of mine and I went to the Churchill's 10/10/16. This was my friend's first cigar bar/store experience. The service at Churchill's SUCKED! Normally when you bring a new smoker into a cigar bar/store and tell the guy behind the counter they are eager to spend some time with touring the new smoker through the humidor explaining cigars, teaching them about cigars and assisting him/her in selecting the right cigar for their first experience. I asked the guy to do so, but he would not budge his lazy butt or have nothing to do with giving my friend or me a little personal attention. Then when we went to the bar, the bartender lady was too busy texting or playing on her phone to wait on me for 5 minutes. Finally one of the customers who knew her name call out to her to get her attention to get us a drink. If I were the owner of Churchill's, I would find out who was at the counter and the bar on the evening of 10/10/16 6:11 PM and make sure that they treat EVERY CUSTOMER like they pay their salaries and keep the Bar in business. read more

Every site says they open by noon or 1pm on Sunday. Went by on a Sunday at 1:20pm. Doors locked, no lights on, no signage posted as to why they'd be closed. Called in sitting in the parking lot at 1:22pm and nobody answered. Voicemail says they open at 1pm, which clearly isn't the case. Complete waste of time. If you aren't going to open at your posted hours, there should be some form of notice; a sign on the door at the very least. Bought a half a box of cigars and a cutter from their competition, Don Juan, which is right up the street. read more

Churchill's is the test case for those who say, "don't judge a book by its store front." Why? Because of course like many places around Baton Rouge, little gems are found in plazas and strips malls, outlets and so forth. Needless to say as a woman who is NOT a huge fan of cigars, I still find myself checking in here quite often. For starters, the staff are really nice and patient and whenever I stumble in looking for a specific cigar for my boyfriend they take their time to help me find it and of course school me, a teacher, on cigar 101. Some weekends, they have live music in the back room or you can mix and mingle and watch tv in the front lounge. Honestly, ladies if your special friend wants to take you here, don't cringe like I did. The drinks are nice and after a few sips you'll notice that time is no longer a concern. You'll love the mature atmosphere and ambience and even if you're not a cigar connoisseur you won't die an early death from smoke inhalation. Don't believe me? I've noticed prices migrating from fair to pricey over time, so I don't visit as much as I used to. The single malt selection is a solid A, and the bourbon and rye selection is pretty solid as well. They tend to get the limited release stuff that I crave, so I'm always up for a visit when I need an excuse to go to Baton Rouge. read more

I should start this review by saying that I am not a fan of cigars nor do I like being around people smoking them. That being said, Churchill's has a lot to like. It's filled with large comfortable couches, friendly bar staff, decent food, and a very large well stocked bar. If you like wine this is probably the best place in the city to come to as you can buy a bottle from the shop and open in it in the bar. The shop is filled with lots of high end liquors (probably the best place to pick up a bottle of scotch in the city), wine, cigars, and smoking accessories. It's a bit pricey, but it's a very nice place. If cigars don't bother you, this is a great place to check out. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! Despite the stale cigarette smoke (we we're thinking cigars, so our bad), we had to listen to the bartender's yappy little dog bark. The ultimate insult was having to approach the bar for a second round; only 5 patrons in the bar: us, another group of 2, and one at the bar, AND the bartender added an automatic tip. THAT SUCKED!!!
