Hayride Scandal is a sophisticated boutique bar experience. The atmosphere perfectly blends vintage charm and modern elegance. The attention to detail in the décor--warm lighting, plush seating, and antique pieces--sets the tone for an intimate and memorable evening. The cocktail menu is nothing short of spectacular, showcasing expertly crafted drinks that highlight creativity and quality ingredients. The menu changes during different seasons and occasions. We tried the classic Old Fashioned or ventured into one of their signature creations, such as the Purple Fez. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their work. Hayride Scandal is clearly more than just a bar; it's a celebration of craft, culture, and community. I only gave bar three stars because of the concerns I have: 1. The rugs are curled up in the boutique back room, and several of us tripped on them, which is a hazard. 2. The women's bathroom only one other bathroom and the other has been out of order for a very long time.

Spent Christmas with Hayride & it was such a great experience! I couldn't be with family so they made it feel right at home with vibes & laughter! Real mixology going on here I love it ! You'll love the French 75s but it's so many wonderful drinks I suggest trying a few / bartenders have great recommendations based on your pallet taste as well.

Quiet Speakeasy Vibes Spent a weekend in Baton Rouge and decided to check this place out. We did not try or ask for food as we had dinner plans already. But the service was awesome! Sadly our bartender was moving on to another career but I will be back for sure. On the interior, you will find PLENTY of seating with chairs and couches to create little pockets of relax zones. There was even a back parlor for additional seating out of the main space. Dimly lit but not dark really gives that speakeasy vibe We tried the Champagne Cocktail and a French 75 to start. I have never tried a CC, but it's essentially bitters, brandy, sugar cube and topped with champagne. Very fresh and I love a bubble ! To close out, we got an Old Fashioned and a Dirty Martini

One of the best bars in Baton Rouge, or all of Louisiana, for that matter. Great Gatsby-esque atmosphere and presentation of the great pre-Prohibition Era cocktails, and terrific modern interpretations. We never miss a chance to hit up Hayride Scandal for after dinner drinks whenever we're in Baton Rouge.

Great vibe, atmosphere, and friendly bartender staff! Happy hour drink prices until 7pm. Thursday has jazz music 7:30p-10:30p. These bartenders are very experienced and know what they're doing. No dinner options (sometimes charcuterie board). Great place for drinks and music!

It's hard to believe I have been coming here for almost 4 years and never written a review for my all time favorite bar. First off don't be fooled by the location. This is maybe the closest thing to a speak easy / high end bar as can be. Every bar tender is amazing and I have tried them all. The owner will always take time out his schedule to chat and tell about a new drink or new project. Don't be scared to try something new you will not be disappointed. Oh yea Monday is free Red beans and rice and oats always spot on. #lowcountrycajun

This is Baton Rouge's classic speak easy with amazing service and a divine menu. Low light romantic venue, some nights they have live music and three areas, two inside for two different feels and the outdoor area out front.

Not enough bar tenders, slow and trashy attire! Needs to be more professional and nicer personality. They gossip a lot.

OMG... what a yummy spot that has been sleepy secret until NOW…read more... The food is so fresh, authentic and delicious. Dinner starts with complementary chips and salsa that are super yummy. Got the trio dip that has this cheesy gooey queso , corn with herbs and cheese and chunky guacamole. We order the carne asada and poncho mixto. The freshness of the food. I will go back and continue to try a new dishes ! But they also have tacos and burritos. The drinks were good too!!! Service was awesome. Gloria was our waitress and she provided some assistance with the choices made. We ate in the bar area. The ambiance of the restaurant is super cute for a girls night out or a first dinner date or a date night with that special someone.

It wasn't spicy like most salsa that I taste, but it also had a different flavor. I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was, but it was really good. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was 10 out of 10 for presentation. The dish came steaming, sizzling and smoking as they sat it down and it continued to do so for over a minute. While the steak was cooked properly, medium well as I requested, it was very tough. Maybe it was an angry cow. Regardless, the staff was very attentive. And the service was very fast. Ambience was nice and it felt very comfortable although it was a bit cold so I had to go and get a jacket for my mom and my sister-in-law. I would give them another try the next time I'm in the area. The menu had a few options that I would be interested in.

One of Baton Rouge's hidden gems, my coworker raved about this spot leading me to come here with…read moreher and try it out myself for dinner. Now after dining here myself, I'm a firm believer! Apparently, they have an annual limited fixed-price menu ($48) with excellent options over three courses. Unfortunately that option was not available when we dined here in early November. So we went for the pimento cheese balls and I ordered the soup de jour which was a butternut squash bisque. Both items were savory and delicious. The pimento cheese balls is fried and served over some hibiscus pepper jelly which gives a nice sweet kick to the creaminess of the cheese. The bisque is creamy and has a nutty squash punch. We loved both very much! For entrees, I debated between the pork chop and sous vide rabbit. I went with the rabbit since I never had rabbit before (weird right?) and I'm glad I went with it. The rabbit has a nice crispy texture with a gamey taste yet the meat was quite tender when cutting into it. The apple chutney compliments the rabbit well and the butternut squash side and purple cabbage garnish make it a well-rounded dish. My friend/coworker ordered the grilled gulf fish which comes with a creamy risotto. The fish is super tender and pairs well with the risotto with an olive oil finish. We were both satisfyingly stuffed from our meal although we wish we saved room for dessert. Definitely next time! They have an extensive wine and cocktail list. The Strawberry Oaxacan is a favorite along with the Kiwi Daquiri due to the exotic fruit flavors. Sadly I couldn't snap any pictures as I was caught up in sipping my Century Oak Zinfandel. I'm glad they have a Red Zinfandel which is my preferred wine of choice as it's easy to sip and not as full-bodied. Gotta give my friend props for bringing me here. We're already talking about coming here again next time I have an assignment in Baton Rouge. I can't wait!

Once in the restaurant, we went to the bar and got their amazing Golden Gatsby cocktail. It was sweet and fruity and had a nice kick to it. The bartender made great drinks our entire visit. I also got an old fashioned which was great. We ordered the beef wellingtons minis and the duck confit tacos which were very yummy. There were not a lot of people there at all. When you read the reviews below, most people know what this restaurant is and how it works. My…read moreresponse is less harsh about the service or it's overpriced charcuterie board concept. I have lived in BR for 6 years now. Many departments at LSU take guests there and in that time, Building 5 has done nothing to improve its parking lot. The restaurant sits underneath an overpass and the parking is pothole marked unpaved gravel. This means that there is no room for wheelchairs or accommodations for anyone who is differently-abled to get into the restaurant. The whole restaurant makes no room for handicapped persons. On the occasion I did get food, the food is slightly overpriced. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.
