Shannon, the receptionist, sent me email saying that their new Comcast phone service was not working properly, and that my phone was the problem because she could not get through, although she had left me voicemail after 5PM. I gave her my work number and got another voicemail after 5 PM. She said I could try the Ventura office on the day that it was open. Straight to voicemail again. I was using the same phone and same carrier that I had before their office move. I was sick of being blamed for their failure to take a call or return a call and I needed a new crown, so I went to another dentist.

I feel it's important to share mine. I waited over an hour past my appointment time before being seen, and unfortunately things only went downhill from there. Months after my visit, I received a surprise notice saying I owed a lot of money, with no itemized bill attached. I then spent months going back and forth between my insurance and the office. My insurance was incredibly helpful and patient, and they told me the office did not file the claim accurately, which created ongoing issues. The office staff, on the other hand, felt scattered and disorganized every time I called. They also billed me for several X‑rays, including a panoramic one they couldn't provide proof of ever taking. Because the information I was getting from the office kept changing, I ended up keeping pages of notes with time stamps just to track everything. I simply didn't trust Riviera Smiles to keep accurate records. After reading other reviews, it seems like my experience wasn't an isolated one. As someone who is extremely sensitive and terrified of needles, this was nothing short of amazing. She numbed me flawlessly and then replaced my old crown, created a temporary one, and scheduled me to return for the permanent crown in three weeks. Thanks to Dr. Attar, I no longer fear going to the dentist. I feel so fortunate to have found her--she's not just skilled, she's a blessing.

The dentists (3 different now) have been chatting very loudly about their personal lives and Netflix shows that they like to watch while in the office. I was also screamed at while standing halfway in my car in the parking lot that I needed to have a mask on during the end of Covid times & then while in the office right before they were going to examine and begin my teeth cleaning that I needed to have the mask over my mouth. It was very rude now the situation was handled & seemed unnecessary to keep outing the mask up over my lips when every couple of minutes they were looking inside my mouth. Was not able to get my x-ray of my tooth while pregnant the day they my tooth broke and I had to go elsewhere for an emergency appointment to have it fixed since tribal health couldn't get me in here. So I was forced to get an x ray while 8 months pregnant in order to have my completely cracked and broken off tooth fixed. There should be a way to help people regardless of a document sharing policy in case of emergencies. Perhaps, options to a system that uses facial recognition or something for emergencies could help all people and hopefully some Indians.

But the referral isn't actually a real referral--just a piece of paper with phone numbers. When you call, they tell you you need a proper referral. So, I reached out to the dentist again asking for a real referral, and they told me to find a new dentist. Which I did. Now, I need x-rays, but they won't send them to the new dentist unless I pay for them. This place is a joke.
