In early February--during a rare Miami cold snap with temperatures plunging to the 30s and wind chills in the 20s--I went bundled up like the Michelin Man (lol) to grab the ultimate cold weather comfort food: deep fried, sugar-covered, fresh churros con chocolate. But, the pursuit of comfort turned to discomfort. Fast. The service was atrocious. In terms of efficiency, I waited in the cold for ~20 minutes for the churros (mind you, there were only two people in the queue). Two. The attendant's energy and attitude? Aloof at best. I was waiting in line for a few minutes when there was no one in line; apparently I was in the pickup line instead of the ordering line (there were no signs??) and they let someone order before me who had just walked by which is not cool after waiting my turn. The service lady had no personality, very unapproachable. On top of it all, I was charged $3 more than what the menu stated. Who doesn't like Churros? I had not had a churros in a hot minute. After all it is pure fat and sugar. But who doesn't want one? It's pure fat and sugar! Came to the wheelin and dealing food truck gathering at magic city. Wanted to take the kids and try it for one. Was so happy we did. Got there early and hit this food truck up first. Dessert should always be first. Got the 8 count churros covered in chocolate. Was not disappointed of course. The churros were crispy and hot. Made to order in front of you. Chocolate was poured right there and handed over. My kids of course loved it and ate most of them. I had one and so did hubby. Was worth the calories. The Churromania truck made its debut on 12/7/10 at the Miami Street Food Court at Bird Road and 65th Avenue. The menu contained the basic items you'd find at one of the Churromania locations in one of the area malls (International mall, Dolphin mall, etc.). While the Churromania truck seemed to be a big hit on this night (probably because it was cold and people were hoping the warm churros and hot chocolate would warm them up), to be honest, I wasn't thrilled by the few things I'd ordered or tried. While I was having some food from another truck, someone who's Latin and should know her churros came over next to me with an order of them, tried one and said it tasted off to her and that it maybe tasted old. Later I tried a cup of their hot chocolate and again, wasn't thrilled at all with the taste. Maybe it's because I'm a gringo and expected something different, but a friend who was there with us that night had some hot chocolate that his dad had made (not the watered down, boil a cup of water and add a pack of powdered hot chocolate stuff, but the real thing made with actual melted chocolate with milk added to it). The hot chocolate my friends' dad had made was worlds better than what they were serving from the Churromania truck. Later in the evening I got an order of Churros. I found that they were OK, but I only finished about 1/2 of them before tossing the rest. Again, maybe I was expecting something different, but I thought they were just OK at best.. I still give them 3 stars, as I give them props for starting up a food truck, and their truck did seem to be very popular. Also, tonight was their debut and perhaps they're on a learning curve and will improve for their next outing. The ChurroMania truck made its debut on a perfectly freezing South Florida night, and I was glad to have the opportunity to check it out with fellow Yelpers. I have to go with the 3 star rating. While they were pretty efficient in having enough churros out to minimize the wait time that was also their downfall as the ones I had got cold pretty quick. As I am a connoseuir of Churros (:) to Patrick L.) The taste could have been a little better. A good churro should be a little firmer and these broke immediately after dipping them in the thick guava filling (which was itself just OK) or the very thick chocolate. That too: while the thick chocolate was OK for dipping, it was a little too thick for drinking. Insulated cups would be good, as the paper cups they were serving were too warm for your hands but dissipated the heat quickly. I do wish them well, and hope the owners check out our advice. I know nothing about churros. I don't think I could discern a good churro from a bad churro. In fact, until last night, I don't think I'd ever consumed a single churro. There were sticks of light-fried dough, and these were drenched in caramel swirls. You know what one of those sticks tasted like to me? Fried dough drenched in caramel, that's what. How fried dough could ever taste any different, I'm not at all certain - but then again, please remember that I am not a connoisseur of churros. I tried ChurroMania for the first time last night, and despite the A-Ok reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I'm going to have to go a bit higher. I loved my churros! They were crispy and doughy all at the same time, and it tasted like I was at a carnival or fair. I also loved the simplicity in their menu. They don't have twenty things like some of the other trucks. They have $3, $4, and $5 options and you can have them with various drizzles, fillings, cinnamon, and sugar depending on what you order. We got lots of churros for the money, and it was worth every penny. My only complaint was the wait. For something that seems so easy to make (dough + fryer = churro), we waited for about ten minutes. I hope to see them at future BTTRs to try different combinations. read more

I went to this particular truck today and while I waited in line I looked at their menu, the screen that they have right there in the truck, and chose what I wanted. I was just craving something sweet and the churros looked good but I wasn't looking to have a lot. So I chose one of their simpler and less expensive items. Well, once I ordered and went to pay, they charged me $3 dollars more than what their menu indicated was the price. When I asked the lady if she was sure that was correct, she kind of fumbled, changed the price, and came back to me with another price that was still $2 more than what the menu indicated. I assumed their menu was wrong and since there was such a long line, I didn't want to bring up the issue anymore. So I paid, waited for my item, and left. However, I really should have insisted on her explaining to me why they had a different price on their menu for the item I wanted. Why? Because you're not really getting a lot for your money when they charge you that much more for that item. If I had known, I would've changed my order. It's too expensive for what you're getting, and I don't even know if that price was correct. If prices changed that much, it is their responsibility to not have a current menu with such outdated prices. On top of that, I have to be honest, the product itself is not that great. When you get to the actual churro dough, it is bland, and a bit soggy. This could be a matter of just this one particular truck. But all in all, everything about them was a disappointment. read more

My friend was dying to try this truck and we she ordered a huge order of the guava and cream cheese churros. They were pretty good but both of us said the same thing..something was missing. The churros were not rolled in sugar so it was missing its normal sweet taste. They were still good though..you really can't eat a bad churro unless it is burned to the crisp. read more
