Right off the 605 freeway, there's a row of street vendors and food trucks, and Churros Don Abel is one of the standouts. We arrived around 8:00 p.m., and there was already a line and for good reason. The churros are delicious, fresh, and not stale at all. The perfect crunch on the outside and the soft middle. I even had one the next morning, and it was still amazing. The only downside is that you can't order the cajeta or lechera on the side. We wanted to take everything home and eat later, but having the toppings added on top made the churros soggy. If you're planning to eat them right away, it wouldn't be an issue. Another small frustration was that they had handwritten signs posted advertising arroz con leche and champurrado, but when we tried to order, we were told they didn't have either. If items are no longer available, those signs should really be taken down to avoid confusion. Overall, still a great stop for fresh, delicious churros. read more

Seriously? I ordered a strawberry churro. I'm handed a skinny ass churro. I take a bite expecting to taste the strawberry filling.. and nothing! Moments later, the lady brings out a little cup containing strawberry filling. I asked why isn't the filling inside. She answered as she was walking away, so I didn't understand. Right off the bat the gentleman working was really nice and helpful. We ordered a #4 with sauces on the side (came with 3) . we also got a Chocmil and was gifted a free hot chocolate for my little. My dad was craving this specific churros so we went and saw that they now have a big food truck that you can see how they make the churros in the transparent glass. It was just a grab and go kind of thing. The line was long but service was fast. Another plus is that they give out free coffee or chocolate drink I think that you can just grab while you wait for your order or when you are standing in line. read more

Churros Don Abel is our go to when we are craving something sweet. We would first visit their first location in East LA (Commerce Center) and once they set up in Whittier (Pioneer HS) we would go here as it was much closer to us. Parking is WAY better too! The churros are always fresh; they are warm, crunchy outside with a soft inside, just delicious! Tonight, we also ordered Platanos Fritos (fried plantains) and they were tasty! They do offer free cafe de olla on the weekends, and today's batch was great. We also ordered a chocomilk (en bolsita) and it was delicious; you could smell and taste the banana that was blended into it. Their staff were friendly and they provided quick service too. If you come through the weekend it's understandable there's a big lines specially, on Fridays I have had the opportunity to try this Churros multiple times can deny there are a bit oily but overall the taste fresh. I love supporting small businesses specially, when their mom and Pop shop you cant deny when someone is ordering approximately a large quantities the wait time could be a bit l but it's quite understandable. This place does get a little pack but you won't regret it how they taste after that. Went a while back and it was a man there with a lady taking orders. Ordered what I thought was the churros prepared with cajeta and when I got my order it was only plain churros. I asked the man if they could add the cajeta and he looked at me rude & annoyingly added cajeta to my churros while very rudely telling me "pa la otra ordenalo asi!" and pointed at the menu that showed the churros with cajeta. I was so caught off guard by how rude he spoke to me, that I didn't even get to explain that I thought that was what I ordered. I wasn't trying to get anything for free and I literally even had $5 cash ready to tip after I ordered to put in the tip jar after receiving my order. Even after he was extremely rude to me I still showed him the $5 and put it in the tip jar as a way to show him that I wasn't taking advantage or trying to get anything for free.
