I have been enjoying the mouthwateringly delicious churros from Churros Don Abel at their other location for years now. It was only recently did I notice their cart off the 605 and boy was that a pleasant surprise. As expected, the churros were oh so delicious, just like the ones at their other location. Best part: little to no line. Pretty much I was able to walk up and get my favorite churros in a matter of minutes. Talk about a win-win. First time I've tried them.. had seen them on Insta but wasn't about to drive to Whittier just for churros lol. Saw them here in Garden Grove ( Haster & Lampson) however and I was so excited to give them a try! I usually wait about an hour for churros over on Anaheim Blvd and Cerritos w Don Churro Gomez but I hate the line!!! When we went Don Abel's truck there was no line at all but I drove by again the other night and there was a line of about 10-15 people. Still not bad. We waited about 8 min for our order to be ready. Tried the churros and the plátanos fritos. Plátanos were so good! Well cooked and super soft. Churros were so delicious as well. Very crispy and soft also. Churros aré 5/$6 and plátanos $7 And I believe they're there all week!!! Ughh the calories ( crying face) lol There was also a sign that said they have complimentary coffee on the weekends! The workers here are very nice! We stopped by for some fresh churros and the sweet platano frito. They tasted delicious, the churros were a good size and had a good tasting sugar with them and the platano frito was great with the lechera-cajeta mix! I cannot get enough of these churros! I write this as I'm already planning a trip back AGAIN! Seriously it's the third week in a row I'm truly obsessed. Churros Don Abel are the closest thing you will get to being in Mexico at your favorite park eating churros. Their churros trigger some of my favorite Mexico memories because they are truly authentic churros. I dropped off 20 churros to my parents as a quarantine pick me up treat and they too are obsessed. You can't help but eat until you feel like you can't eat anymore. The crunch on them is perfect, the sugary goodness. They are absolute perfection. Optional but you can get them with cajeta (basically Mexican caramel) and fresa (strawberry) yo elevate them to new heights. My favorite which really brought out the nostalgia was the fried plantain. As a kid my aunt would always make them for me and I never got close to her excellence until I had theirs! It is the perfect warmth and gooey flavors to make my tastebuds explode! Well I have to say that Don Abel still serves the best churros around, however I also notice that with expansion also come lower service, quality and attention to detail. Really..... For regular churros, meaning cinnamon and sugar, the best! For the fancy churros with creama or cajeta....sorry charlie! Crema or lechera obviously give a different flavor and sweetness and you cannot go wrong with lechera on practically any latino dessert. As for cajeta, what kind of crap are they pulling. What they put is not cajeta, NOT EVEN CLOSE. It is some kind of artificial corn syrup with sugar and other chemicals. Cajeta should be made with milk and sugar. Anyway, I recently found 2 places in the OC and rival Don Abel, but have to make a couple more trips to make sure they are consistent. Much Love! read more

Taste texture was pretty decent had a nice crunch like freshly poured cereal in the morning. These churros don't have deep ridges so they don't hold a lot of sugar cinnamon mix.
